Maybe you are just an anti-rift without playin it or you just can´t afford it. Rifrt is incredible gameplay, everithing is awesome, PVP, rifts, invasion, quest, Warfronts (kinda of arenas but much better) Dungeons, i really recommend this game. Wow at all the fanboys and smack talking... I played rift for about a month and was utterly bored. It lacks story and a sense of immersion. The rifts were a huge disappointment, and the rift groups I got were actually worse than the random dungeon groups I used to get in WoW (I didn't think that was possible until rift). Finally the game plays like most other mmos, such as wow. It differs in some areas, but it's still wow with a facelift. Combat is more difficult but not at all dynamic.

also, make sure you have good gear, for example in this vid, the guy was fighting a monter with a yellow numba! that means it is very powerful... you need equipment, get your source engines, or sigils, get good weapons, and... most importantly, use your souls wisely, theres like 1000 diff combinations so... experiment. And no rift is not easy. if you dont like hard games that will kill you if you fuck up, then... choose another one. But dont say rift sucks just cause you died a lot, thats dumb.
so, the way i see it, some people hate rift cause its too hard for them... thats sad... really sad... ok a tip for those starting, if you see that a major invasion is coming, first: go to a settlement or town where there might be a warstone, thats the safest place to start fighting the invasion, second: look in the map and see what you need to do to defeat the invasion, three: find groups of people to fight with, this is not something meant to do by yourself. three: have fun :D

Yeah, I tried Rift, and in it's defense, it's hit and miss. Not very in-depth, and the story line seemed mediocre. Class systems are too convoluted; they do not make sense what-so-ever, but there are some good features as well. Obviously there are not a tremendous amount of good features, so you cannot refer to this game as a WoW killer, or even a contender to be honest. Rift simply does not have the X factor needed to go head to head against WoW.

Yeah this game sucks! I found myself spending more on death penalties during an invasion than I was getting from an invasion. Invasions are overwhelming because no matter how few people there are to fight them, they will always be the same size and difficulty. I played it for 1 week and finally quit today. The new 1.2 patch does fuck all to change the experience except make the game what it should've been in the first place. I'll wait for GW2 so I actually have a chance to progress.
@19Jones91 How is WoW and GW cookie cutter when they were the first MMORPG's that most other MMORPG's follow? All Rift was designed for was to waste your subscription on paying for death penalties. Go ahead and see if you can take on a level 20 town raid at level 10 with only a few people to help. If I wanted to waste my time dying I'd go for the "Defender of Ascalon" title in GW. Thankfully if I decided to try I wouldn't be lining someone's pockets in the process because it's FREE.
@OrionRaw I can't change the mechanics of the game. If an invasion hits a town and I'm trapped inside then I die if there's not enough people to fight it off, which there usually isn't. The game is just another money pit like all those crap Korean MMO's. They said the game was polished an complete out of the box. That's a crock of shit!
