Thank you for this. I'm in the army reserves. My unit is deploying in 2012. My husband will be deploying with me. We have a three month old daughter we're going to have to leave behind. I'm so scared she won't remember me. But thanks again for this. There's not enough tributes to the women that serve.

Hi I'm young and have a very long time..but I want to be in the Army when I get older. I did a ton of research and still never found out if women could go in combat or not? Can someone please tell me?
@Tayshaye17 women are not allowed in anything to do with combat such as infantry, but every job in some sort of way sees combat and what it is like. no i'm not in the army but i'm going into the marine corp, but if you ask anyone they see there fair share of combat oveseas. my suggestion is going on wikipedia or some other website and it will list all the MOS's (jobs) in the army and it should tell you if women are allowed in that field. sorry to make this comment so long lol hope i helped :)
it really goes both ways I have seen female soldiers break down after a incident and start crying when stuff is going on. I have also witnessed a female "NCO"( I use that term loosely because she was having sex with my platoon leadership till she got sent to the board) hide in a truck during a fire fight. Having said that I have seen a female NCO get blown up and lose both her soldiers, pick up what was left of her soldiers SAW and while wounded fight through a complex ambush.
I am so proud of how far we have come as females in the military. I leave for basic soon, then I am off to OCS. Women have so much to offer. Women are just as capable as men and as a woman I am going to do my part. I am so proud of all the men and women in the military, and although I will be leaving my family I know that I will be fighting for something I truly believe in.

War should not be for ANYONE. However, wars must be fought, and if women (there is no 's' on women, btw) can be capable soldiers, why would the government turn them away? I know many female soldiers who are stronger, smarter, and tougher mentally than some male soldiers. They can handle the rigors of war as well as any man.

The only reason that women are not technically allowed in combat units or in direct action is because of Congress and the D.O.D. made it 'law' generations ago.
In these wars the qualified ones are unofficially in infantry units proving their abilites and bravery, only they are 'attached' to them and 'assigned' to a combat support unit.
I am a firefighter who carries between 60 and 80 lbs of gear minimal, so if it's soley about weight then I think women could carry another 20 lbs.
thats is not the only reason. I know plenty of female MP's who have been on convoys with infantry and done just as well as them. The MAIN reason females are not allowed in the infantry is due to HEALTH issues. A man can go 2 or 3 weeks without showering. If a woman did she would get a nasty infection 75% of the time. I myself am an MP and have carried the same fighting loads, been on the same missions, and had the same training as the males!

age 16 with grade 10 for Army Reserve Forces and 17 with grade 10 for Regular Forces in Canada can't be deployed into combat regions until you're 18. For the other countries im not too sure.

but that's the beauty of it...we women in the all branches of the service promised in the oath of Enlistment "to uphold the Constitution of the United States" and that includes people who never served in the military. i have an EXTREMELY high tolerance for pain and went trhough the same thing because I wanted to be ableto say i did it.
I tore allthe ligamentsattched to my ankle and broke two bones in my foot and 2 in the other and finished a half marathon.
My pain tolerance is higher than most marines.
All mothers have a higher pain tolerance than me.
I've stood up to guys who had guns in my mouth. I am not as brave as some mothers

in those pictures its probably the lioness program....it a cultureral sensitive program when woman serarch for weapons on the iraq woman..look it up on here(youtube) it will come up....good luck....maybe ill see you then....SEMPER FI!!!!

age 16 with grade 10 for Army Reserve Forces and 17 with grade 10 for Regular Forces in Canada can't be deployed into combat regions until you're 18. For the other countries im not too sure.

I had a chance to serve with some outstanding female soldiers, they pull their weight right along side the males. I never want to hear anyone trash the female soldiers.

that is verry nice an awesome...Im verry yound am in JROTC in high school and am planing to join the military...allot of people dont understand why I am in it and they just laugh but I wear my uniform with pride and I kno who I am today thanks to wat JROTC & drill team made of me HOOAAH !!!

I'm very pleased to see more and more videos out there celebrating women military members and vets! I served proudly in the US Marine Corps from 1979 to 1982...some of the best years of my life!

A great video, well done. The only point of detraction is the sound track from a cowardly hypocritical country singer who talks a good fight, but has NEVER served a day of his life in our country's uniform.

but that's the beauty of it...we women in the all branches of the service promised in the oath of Enlistment "to uphold the Constitution of the United States" and that includes people who never served in the military. Just the fact he can sing a song like this is proof that we still live in the greatest country in the world with freedom of speech, right?

Great vid and I love the song! I'm tired of hearing sexist pigs saying that women shouldn't even have the option of joing the military, but does that dampen my dreams? Hell no! That only adds on to my determination to join the army!
I have to agree with heflinMAX with the pics at the beginning and end, though.

Thanks for remembering that WE ALSO SERVE! We fight, bleed and die just like everyone else. Thanks for the tribute. (side note: the posters at the begining & and are a bit on the wrong side of the image of women in the military, but I didn't get upset over it.)
