The first collector's edition is worth quite a lot now, but I'm sure a lot less were made then the TBC/WoTLK one. I have bought both normal and CE and I did not mind paying extra to get the ingame pet, a cd, dvd, book and a new mousepad.

I guarantee no one will be searching the internet for a copy of the picture book from WotLK on Ebay in 10 years (at least not for any amount of money worth commenting on). The original Millennium Falcon toy from Hasbro still in the box? Collectible. The WotLK picture book? Not a collectible.
