  • Luc Besson is my favorite director, he takes total control of what he does... imagery, story and music to make it work.. He's a french director, but I can see the impact that Shostakovich had on him.. the same drive for perfection.. and how Shostakovich influenced the music scores Besson would use..

  • This is true music .<3

  • Awesome!!

  • I want this 3 minutes and 48 seconds of pure divine to be played on my funeral.

  • stalins's preferate composer

  • @zebbo1977 not at all true. He was threatened and forced to make propaganda music for Stalin films. Stalin hated his 5th symphony and nearly had him sent to the Gulag. Inform yourself before making such statements.

  • Eyes Wide Shut

  • This music reeeeeeeeeeally travels you.....

  • It is very favorite music.

For Japanese people, this minor key can be heard sadly pungently.

    It is very good.

It is good also at a performance of sax and a trombone.

  • Fedor would like this.

  • reminds me of a traditional jewish song

  • Stunning and moving, powerful yet subtle.

  • lovely ?

  • Heineken....

  • amazing..

  • meanwhile, if the majority of today's generation heard this, they'd probably be wondering if there was ever "grinding music" during this time x(

  • @rainwalker93 Every modern generation had 'wild' music like that. Even so there are some from from the currently 18 year old generation that loves this music, myself included.

  • Eyes Wide Shut.

  • a painfully beautiful song

  • @yukionna26 not a song

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of the Heineken commercial :D

  • @VhUgGz NO. I'm here because Bad Santa

  • @nas1412 Bad Santa is an epic movie.

  • Genius. Genius. Pure, talented genius.

  • he looks a bit like Christopher Walken on this pic.

  • Holy shit!!!My highest respect to the music masters like Shostakovich.

  • Härligt och vilket vemod man känner i valsen!

  • i have been looking for this for so long...thankgod i found it! :D

  • This vid made me grow a Handlebar Moustache...

  • The quintessential Russian waltz of all times

  • Terrific tune.Used very well as a theme in the play 'The Overcoat'. Not a single spoken word of dialogue in the production and not required with music like this to do the talking.

  • Nothing like a beautiful waltz from the great comrade Shostakovich. Spasibo :)

  • This music was played at my mum's cremation, and it brings back sad memories every time I hear it.

  • @NathalieBoynton Ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • My favourite waltz!

  • Bad Santa.

  • Thumbs up if this reminds you of the Heineken Commercial!

  • Solo hay dos palabras para describirlo. Genio Musical

  • I could lsiten to this ALL...NIGHT...LONG...

  • Last Sunday, my high school orchestra performed this piece, now I am HOOKED! Beautiful, and it spits russian all over itself. Nice Music!!!!

  • damn I really want to see Eyes Wide Shut again... so crazy..

  • Really nice music

  • nice video

  • if this was a movie soundtrack, that would be my favourite movie

  • @Azash123 it's the opening music for the movie Eyes Wide Shut. you know that right?

  • @Azash123

IT is a movie soundtrack ))

  • MUSICA ECCEZZZIONALE - AZZECCATA AL FILM DI KUBRICK - VEDETE IL FILM O RIVEDETELO MERITA - LEOCLAN-MILANO

  • I played the clarinet and reminded me of old times

  • Karasho Dmitri !

  • @minamutv

  • @mcpartridgeboy , in your haste to prove how much you know about Shostakovich; you've over looked the fact that lincoln5561 could be ending his message with a little note on where he's posting from. No?

  • @JBestwick1 hi there in your haste to prove how smart you are over me you neglected to find the sarcasm in my message, next time you want to look smart dont try to make a chess player look dumb cuz youll loose EVERY TIME, now fuck off to your pub the footballs on, go play with a ball you fucking uneducated peice of shit trying to look smart hahahah yeah pick on a chess player, WANKER " !

  • ladies and gentlemen that's music >~<

  • @Altery48 moi aussi.

  • First performed by Moscow radio in 1938, the original score was lost in WW2 but a piano score was found by Manashir Yakobov and the symphony was reconstructed by Gerard McBurney.

It was next performed at the London Promenade Concert in 2000.

  • We play this in my orchestra, all strings and it sounds amazing, just like this! :)
