A true classic can stand the test of time. Illmatic has not done that in my eyes. It was a good album , and maybe groundbreaking for its TIME, but nowadays it sounds corny. There were some songs however that stood the test of time like Lifes a Bitch with AZ , and New York State of Mind. But however almost nothing has touched OutKast catalogue. Even though Lupe is a good artist, he is not a heavy weight artist by his history. Though I know he will be a high caliber rapper for years to come, he has not dropped enough singles and essentially success like Andre and Outkast. Andre takes this. For a newcomer to overtake a champion calliber artist they must be unprecedentally better than the opponent. Lupe does flow and rap and write well, sometimes better than Andre but he is not significantly better so Andre still holds the title.

I think Andre is better, but they really can't be compared. Andre added so much originality to the game, and there are a lot of rappers now who imitate his stuff. Also if you look at Aquemini, his lyrics are so mature and have a lot of meaning behind them. They are not like Lupe's, who uses sick ass semantics, play on words, etc,. The only reason I think Andre is better is because his career is unfortunately done, and he accomplished much more than Lupe. However, Lupe can potentially surpass

Ever since Atlantic Records started interfering with lupe's music the quality of his art has dropped drastically. Lupe said himself that he hated lasers, I don't blame him. It was garbage but only because Atlantic Records wouldn't let him put out his best work. Over all i think andre and lupe are pretty evenly matched

Even though Lupe is a good artist, he is not a heavy weight artist by his history. Though I know he will be a high caliber rapper for years to come, he has not dropped enough singles and essentially success like Andre and Outkast. Andre takes this. For a newcomer to overtake a champion calliber artist they must be unprecedentally better than the opponent. Lupe does flow and rap and write well, sometimes better than Andre but he is not significantly better so Andre still holds the title.

Lupe has nice lyrics & good flow, but delivery is the same on everything.
Lupe just needs to evolve a bit & he'll be on the same level. As far as surpassing Andre though, I can't see it happening. He can get to when Andre is, but it's hard to imagine anyone better than Andre except Em.
