Found both of those guitars for bout a grand each.... still cant make up my mind. i like the sg's straight sound but the les paul really screeches (good thing). Are both plugged into the same amp with similiar setting?

Looks to be a mini stack and some sort of mg combo(not exactly sure from the vid) But I think people are missing the point of this vid.. Clearly both of these lads are in the same band. not really a fair comparison. im assuming that the lp is being played through the marshal stack in the back and the sg obviously through the small combo in front. that combo wont allow the guitar to cut through the drums so its unlikely to get any kind of tone comparison. it would have been better to compare on the same amp same player same riff. but thats just me.

I applaud you kids for pursuing your music and being proud enough to put up vids. What's important is that you enjoy yourselves and enjoy music. That being said, I have to say your drummer (friend? brother?) needs to work a lot on keeping the beat steady. His beat is erratic, and he's often really on top of the beat or pushing the beat. All three of you should keep on practicing and getting better.

The Les Paul has better pickups so it's not really a fair comparison. They are both kick ass guitars, it's just a matter of personal preference as far as neck and playability are concerned. Personally I'd go with an SG standard over a les paul studio, but the les paul studio is better than the SG studio.

and the amps both contain the same wattage (15w) theyre the same amp.....just one has 3 pieces and 2 speakers.....and the les paul was plugged into the combo amp......not the mini stack

Kind of unfair. I mean the Les Paul Studio has 490R and 498T pickups, but the SG Special has 490R and 490T pickups. The 498T pickup is a little hotter than the 490T since the 498 has Alnico V magnets and the 490 only has Alnico II magnets. It really does give the Les Paul an unfair advantage.

The SG is harder to play in my opinion.
