  • nice ty!

  • no need to argue about the vintage, it was damned good music, and yes it must have been the right blend of opium and coke that produced the best music ever!

  • burned alot of chiba to this stuff.

  • Awesome - thanX.)>>

  • always had a sound of there own, loved em sence i was a pre teen, remember my sis boyfriend playing the candy o lp,the first time i heard em, followed em every sence, new lp is good too

  • actually they did form in the late 70's and their debut album was in 1978

  • yeah !!!

  • This wasnt a "70"'s band.

  • These 70's bands cannot be reproduced, they are the best!

  • I am 28. Always listened to the Cars, in part because of my parents. But my parents never knew how much they rocked. One of my fave songs on Candy-O. That album is filled with greats

  • If I remember correctly, this was used as a promotional video for their debut album, The Cars. Chock full of hits, btw!!! Great band. Too bad about Benjamin Orr...

  • Candy O is one of my favorite albums and this is my fave from that album. I still love this tune and think the Cars were just a wee bit ahead of their time.

  • such an exotic, entrancing song....nothing remotely like it

  • Power pop huh? I would love to hear a corporate runned reviewer read his snappy shit review while elliot easton is tearing up a stratocaster!

  • Awesome, thanks for posting.

  • I LOVE the dangerous type!

  • Elliot Easton is not underrated...just not discussed a great deal because his band was not totally focused on the guitar.Elliot is well known to be a VERY good player.

  • love it.

  • Bill Gates can really rock the maracas!!!

  • saw these guys back in 82.I went to school in boston with ricks nephew who hooked us up with backstage passes.memories well lived

  • Gawd, Ocasek was a strangely sexy guy-really magnetic. Would like to have been his or Ben's 'dangerous type'. And Ben is mind blowingly beautiful through out but never as gorgeous as in those last few seconds. OMG, my heart skips beats.............I miss you Ben.

  • Great band! Candy-O kicked ass.

  • "Oh can i touch you...Are you out of touch?...I guess i never noticed that much"

  • Their first two albums were masterpieces.

Very important to rock history. A top drawer band.

  • This is the song that made me a Cars fan. Still my favorite Cars song.

  • greg hawkes is fucking goofy looking.

  • I missed this vid; great upload Slance! The Cars Totally Rock! My Fav Band.

  • These guys could make any song sound good. So much talent in one band. The fact that Ocasek was a damn good song writer made it even more incredible.

  • Dangerous Type!!

  • The Cars are one of the most under-rated bands ever! They're so skillful and influenced many.

  • Too bad for the rat!.....Hear it for Boston...

  • God, I love this band.

  • @acm7673 these guys were freakin great.the were a big part of my youth!

  • I want Ric Ocasek!!! He is so sexy. I love his smile and the way he licks his lips. :)

  • Ohhh Ben Orr, you beautiful, beautiful man! miss u much!

  • @sunsungoaway

...only the good die young !

  • I think that the CARS were one of the BEST BANDS OF ALL TIMES

  • @tedboeing Most definately ♥

  • Comment removed

  • The Cars were so harmonic, but not without Ben. RIP.

  • KICK ASS SONG

  • Bill Nye the science guy on keyboards!!!

  • Ben and Ric, the 80's version of Lennon and McCartney!

  • want to crack your crossword smile, can I take you out for awhile now that's some great lyrics, one of Okasik's best.

  • Oh those great, great 80's. Wish they were back!

  • @MehMeh66 they are

  • Put up a vocalist poll...Ben Orr or Rick Okasik? Both were fantastic....

  • @keyspotjoe I vote Ben Orr Rick is o.k. but Ben has got the voice

  • @keyspotjoe Ben Orr gets my vote

  • Keyboard player looks like Wormser from Revenge of the Nerds. Seriously. But I LOVE this song and this band!

  • These guys are just DAMN GOOD!

  • This is probably one of the greatest songs of all time.

  • this is what i considered talent then and now

  • one there best, i personally dont like the new album at all, what happened guys

  • 18 people arent dangerous...

  • howard stern singing?

  • I just love those Elliot Easton guitar solos.

  • Just to make things clear people, The Cars released this as a dedication to bang a gong (T. Rex). I personally like this better. It's got a awesome solo!

  • I don't know what the hell Ben Orr is wearing, but I'll forgive him because he's so smokin' hot in this video!

  • @thefuppy Omfg!!! Isn't he? Woot!

  • Oh yeah

    At one with the moment

    My YOUniverse is expanding

The Cars melt the past and the future and put me into the Cosmos!

  • @IVatworky SO well stated. I couldn't have said it better.

  • My 2nd favorite Cars song, right behind Candy-O !

    The Cars.............one of a kind, R.I.P. Ben

  • Wonderful video

  • I'm glad they're back together, but any Cars lineup without Benjamin just isn't complete....miss him.

  • i swear the organ player looks like hes 15 yrs old lol

  • Probably my favorite Cars song. Godspeed Benjamin, you were a beautiful man.

  • I had Candy-O on 8-track. *click - click*

  • dont cha stop and dangerous type are close cousions

  • looking for friends in chicago who also love the Cars......look for me on fb

  • This band had both Ocasek and Orr as lead singers. How many bands now would kill to have either one of them for lead!!!!!!!!!

  • HONKY! (C)ROCK NNNNNN ROLL MAAAAAAN!!!!!!! TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

  • @mrmikespence1964 racist prick, modern music would be nothing without contributions from all people. i can name call too, mind you....

  • I LOVE The Cars!

  • They still sound new! New music now sounds old and crappy. What happened to New Wave? I can't listen to most newer popular bands now. People like Nickelback, what the hell?

  • Elliot Easton...One of the best most under rated guitar players out there.

The kid can just build a lead....& he's a southpaw...

    Rock On Guys...

    RIP BEN

  • @lilstrummerboy77 Totally agree. His leads are all over their music, and they're all blazing. There were two frontmen in front of him. Still, can't feel too sorry for him, he was in the Cars for christs sake.

  • @lilstrummerboy77 he sucks

  • @lilstrummerboy77

absolutely...never mentioned like he never existed...shame on the media music community

  • Late '70's Dean guitars...awesome!

  • At their concert at Midway Stadium in 1981. It was totally rockin' and I was in my late teens. Memories memories, who we were with, what we were doing. I remember they opened for the Marshall Tucker band and they totally killed them!

  • One of the CARS Coolest songs. One of many... Love their clothes in this vid. Where can I get me some for the Concert in NYC on Wednesday,......

  • I love this song. The Cars were awesome!

  • simply the best rip ben

  • 'Gone wrong'? No, obviously gone right.

  • It would be difficult to overstate how freaking good this band was.

  • @milossarian you mean still is... Got the new album, not bad

  • And about a thousand times more wealthy and successful than you

  • 18 assholes didnt like this song ?

  • @k3304 imagine that! How dare they disagree with you. What self-centered morons.

  • what year

  • great song great band!

  • That Ben Orr was sure a foxy thang! (No matter what color his hair was : )

    XX

  • I remember when the Cars broke big...I was in the 6th grade and I begged my dad to buy the record. My mom complained the lyrics were nothing but sexual innuendo MOM: see ROCK AND ROLL). I got the lyrics a few years later but their riffs really got my attention as a 6th grade kid in a Catholic grade school.

  • GREAT song-Wish I could have been at the Rat in 76 to hear history being played!!!

  • This song should have Benjamin Orr on lead vocals. It'd be a BIG, sexy improvement and probably a much bigger hit. Repeating "C'mon and hold me tight" would have all the ladies jumping on stage with Orr singing it!

  • thank you, Ive never seen this. where have I been??

  • Amazing song, wonderfully written. Few songs have a build up which leads to a climatic moment like this one. It must have been wonderful to be in your 20s and to have such rich material to play live.

  • IM DANGEROUS 2 BUT NOTHIN LIKE GOD CAN DO

  • One of my favorite Cars songs- been looking for this video

  • Elliot and Sheena Easton...power couple.

  • The outro to this song is every bit as fascinating as that of I Want You (She's so Heavy) by the Beatles in 1970. I don't notice the gradual increase in intensity, so much as I'm shocked back to reality when it's over.

  • @lgbpop

Thats what always captivated me about this song from when I first heard it, and I first saw this video at a stereo show in the ealry 80's. Blasted it continuously on my cassette boombox.

  • R.I.P. Ben

  • I love this song, and great video.. BUT WHAT THE HELL IS FILMIING EVERYBODY ELSE BUT ELLIOT DURING HIS SOLO???? And David Robinson is hardly present as well.

  • Ben Orr......none better..............EVER

  • This song, the last on Candy-O, is comparable to All Mixed Up, the last song on their 1st album in that it has that catchy haunting vibe to it that leaves you thinking and wanting to play the whole album over again. All their albums were great but they did not put one foot wrong on the first 2 albums. I'm glad they've reunited, I think Ben would be happy, but there's no way you can replace the late great Ben Orr and they've wisely decided not to. Hard to believe it's been 10 years he's been gone

  • @cudaj2 I could not have said this any better! The long outro to this song is incredible. They way the outro gets layered and louder and mystical all at the same time before slowly fading away is incredible.

  • @johnisallin Agreed. It's a magnificent progression, shown in pieces and kept out of the way during the sparse and slowly developing main body of the song. Then as if a system is sliding out of control, the change accelerates, and the pieces come together. By the fade out, they are introducing new variations in each bar, and with the mounting layers as you point out, they simultaneously fill the sonic and thematic space. The momentum at the end has carried to 2011 so far...

  • @haakondahl amen brother

  • @johnisallin Thank you and yes it is indeed hypnotic.

  • TELL ME, WHERE ARE THE EIGHTEEN JERKS........IF YOU DON'T LIKE, GET OFF THE FRIGGIN CHANEL

  • 18 ppl wouldn't know a clue if it introduced itself, bit them on the ass, took their girlfriend, pillaged their fridge, and took a dump on dining room table.

  • Ric Ocasek...a cross between a lab rat and Elvis's hair. Genetic manipulation experiment gone wrong.

  • @dudefromtherock

    Paulina didn't mind ;)

  • @instuller Money and fame dude, money and fame.

  • @dudefromtherock lol yeah, bad bair...

  • @8834b let me guess...you're an English lit major?

  • Comment removed

  • @8834b Grow the F up and have a laugh once in awhile a hole.

  • @dudefromtherock, considering kids used to tell me I looked like Ric I take offense to that. :P

  • @dudefromtherock If crossing a lab rat with Elvis's hair gets you this, then we need to do this experiment about a million more times!

  • GREAT CLASSIC CARS SONG

  • Cars are back!!!

  • truly nothing greater then the cars

  • Kudos to Ric for scoring supermodel leg!!!

  • Euro bands rock the world!!!!

  • The cars Brill, brings back so many memories

  • Best Cars song. Rik was a strange beautiful creature fronting this band.

  • Wow! This is truly amazing for a live performance!

  • it's also my fave cars song...it reminds me of a guy i knew at the time.

  • Greatness!

  • THEY HAVE A NEW ALBUM COMING OUT THIS YEAR 2011

  • @TheTrex123456 yup. sometime in the spring.

  • @TheTrex123456 iT'S ABOUT TIME!!! wHAT HAVE THEY BEEN DOING ENJOYING ALL THEIR RICHES!!! LOL

  • The first two Cars albums were full of magic. I remember well buying them on vinyl and being blow away from the very first listening session. Sadly, the vibe didn't last. I guess it was the lure of the all mighty dollar. Funny the way the tracks from those same two albums generate a lot of viewing and discussion today. Very good to see the magic wasn't lost with time and to witness the way the new generation is embracing the material released more than 30 years ago.

  • My girlfriend "Kim" turned me onto The Cars in 1980. She went to see them live at Carrier Dome in Syracuse that year and said it was awesome! She was my first love and a little hottie. Now every time I hear any song from their first 2 albums I think of her. They are timeless...unlike me!

  • @TheFreeman1963 The hair on the back of my neck stands out when I hear the keyboards at the end...haunting, I close my eyes and it's 1982, I'm driving down main street at 1am with my friends passing the lights and people on the street, looking for gals. The Cars were amazing.

  • @dudefromtherock I echo what you say....dude. I feel the same way... Love the say. Glad we can watch these vids from years past and still remember where we were, who we were with and what wer were doing. Music is special in that way...

  • @dudefromtherock Amen to that.......in 82 I was 12 and old enough to know good music when I heard it. This guys were incredible.

  • @lowflyingcessna I'm same age as you. We are some lucky mo fo's. There have been some good generations and all, but our lifespan has been SWEEEET.

Most of the cool technology of even today is just improvements of what came out inthe 1980's, when we were teens and learning how to enjoy life.

  • @dudefromtherock the music we loved then makes todays crap sewer water for sure. I would gladly rewind the clock 30 years for all of us......only if I could......

  • I agree the Cars were amazing.....I used this audio for one of my cat videos and You Tube took it off - Dangerous Cats- no longer viewable. Then Talking Heads and my video is silent.

Anyway, the Cars are one of the best bands EVER!.

  • @dudefromtherock I remember getting hold of a bottle of Jim Beam when I was 16, then getting stuck in the mud in my friend's VW Squareback. It didn't seem so bad when you had The Cars in the 8-Track!

  • One of my Favorite's song

  • The cars was one of those bands that could capture a basic melody that was mesmerizing and build around it which it seems to me is what tends to sell, it’s really excellent rock music.

  • There's an upcoming reunion tour for The Cars in 2011.

Is this true or just a rumor?? anyone know?? Any links?

  • @mondocaneman The Cars HAVE reunited! That's a fact, and that's all I know on the subject, more or less hehe

  • January 25, 1979: Rolling Stone magazine's annual readers' poll names The Cars as the "best new band of the year." ☺

  • What a boss tune from the 80's, the more I listen to the Cars the more I realize how under rated they really were.

  • @dudefromtherock Your wise cracks are the reason!

  • Thank goodness for the 60's, 70's, 80's and at least half of the 90's. Music today is a bunch of karaoke singing sheep.

  • Its hard to pick a favorite with the Cars but this would be in my top 3

  • I love everything about them... the cheesy organ squeaks and squacks, the awkward rhythms, the weird vocal timbres, the dirty guitar noises.

    Genius.

  • didnt know ben died. i have been a cars fan my whole life but can barely listen any more cuz i have a rare condition called hyperacusis, and extreme trigeminal nueralgia, one of the most painful conditions known to man, well documen ted as that. im hoping to hold on till april and have a surgery thats all or nothing for my pain and so i can listen to the cars again. i love them and am very familiar with their whole 5 albums:) dangerous type is a perfect mix of their talents!

  • By far the greatest song ever.

  • Awesome footage. I got some good information on this from fasteconomicalcars (.) com

  • That sounds like the studio version SWEET.

  • it's so painful when they cut away from Easton while he is doing his solo. His solos are always so good, and he was such a star. In fact, although I love Rick, Easton... influenced me so much as far as style and cool goes. Easton is so underrated.

There was nothing that could ever beat just hanging out watching MTV in the 80s. That changed us all. The younger in ways they don't understand, in the older, ways that make them sad.

  • The lead guitarist plays some awesome riffs.

  • Wish i had hair like THAT! Gotta love those CARS!!!

  • This song sums up the cars for me.I was in my camaro with a girl that i thought i could never be with.High school love B.S. I guess.......Our daughters aged 16 and 14 like rap go figure.lololo.

  • This was from Candy-O right? It came out in 1979.

  • Almost sounds like Benjamin Orr on the album version...I really just don't get how this band didn't make it to the HOF.. They played a huge roll in New Wave, Rock and even Pop to shape into modern music and classic favorited tunes. Too bad theres not a single band like them anymore...but what makes up for that is of course..the cars reunion!! I hope there new album won't be too popish and modern music of today like. If it is then i'll understand why there not the same without the "full lineup".

  • @TheMajorHawke I hear you, without Orr I dunno.
