I give you two reasons :

1/The movie is about a girl who's fascinated by a vampire and who kinda love him (Which is not a bad idea. I love Morse for example)

2/There are fangirls around the world claiming that Lestat is "sooo damn sexy".

Anyway I prefer Interview with a vampire. Lestat is much more creepier in that story.
