Love it // Me and my son built one // about 4yrs ago / not hard // fun / cool we used a 24hp ariens garden tractor // hydrostatic // it has front and rear hydraulics // fairly is to convert // we used 8000 pd fork truck motor 24v system /not fast about 9mph // but dam thing can pull any thing if can hold it on ground the front end ways about 650 pds / with batteries
and motor 4 foot blade // we can stand straight up in the air / we tied
@TIGHTWADHERMAN Thanks for the comments. You are the first person to visit who has converted one as well and it seems you are having as much fun with your tractor as I am with mine. I would love to see pictures of your conversion. You can send them to my email address "cleanpower@smoothwake.ca"
@rowleysdreamlandfarm There sure can. I am currently converting two PTO equipped tractors, a 35hp Pasquali orchard tractor, and a 23hp Kubota estate tractor. So long as you provide enough electric hp to equal the original diesel power, it will operate just the same as before.
@MrTpengineer Thanks for the Comment. The design of the canopy allows for just that, however the appropriate size solar panel set that can fit are only good for trickle charging (3A) and not enough to make a difference during operation of the machine. I'll still install them to maintain the pack between uses.
The cabin cruiser conversion I have underway will use a large array of panels that will charge the pack @15A .
@Hetman1974 Thanks for the comment. Electric motive power is the future whether it's on land or the water. I have made a 30hp electric outboard motor ( video to come soon ) and I am currently converting a 34' boat to twin electric drive.
As to shipping to Australia, it's not a problem at all. Along with a tractor, I can offer a storage shed with solar panels for pack charging.
hey, my dad got a old lawnmower, and the engine just blown the hell up, oil everywhere and engine was .. very noisy and .. really oily (oil was litterly spilling everywhere on the mower) so i thought about just replacing the engine with an electric motor .. but keeping the rest as it is, so it would be clutch engaged ... but its not even on paperwork, still in my head :D! anyway, maybe i will start doing plan in about 1 week or more..
My tractors' lights are 36v off a Dutch sailing yacht I was repairing, so I don't know where to get those again, but you can get 12v LED truck back-up lights from Princess Auto that should do the trick.
1. There is no motor maintenance required for at least 2000 hrs.
2. It costs far less to operate per hour than a gas or diesel engine of equal power.
3. There is much less noise and no air pollution.
Large industries such as rail, mining, shipping and factories try to avoid using combustion engines for the same reasons and more. With the electric motor, this tractor is lighter and stronger than with a gas motor.
Thanks for the comments davetileguy. Read all the comments first as they contain a lot of info, and you are welcome to ask me specific questions if you still need help.
WOW! good job buuut why put so much work into the tractor then skimp on the production with a slide show presentation? I want video and specs!! how many min-hrs does it go ? how long did it take to make how much $ i'v been thinking of making one for a while since they have E-forklifts!! again good job
Thanks. I design my own projects - that's the part I enjoy the most.( I looked around the internet and couldn't find any designs for hydraulic powered loader arms that would fit a small tractor anyway.)
Thanks. The transmission is hydraulic so the one motor drives both it and the pump.
36 volts all it needed, and is found in most golf carts, so there are more motors and accessories out there at less cost. As well, a 36v battery pack fits into a standard battery box which fit the machine.
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing!

You should add 3, 12volt solar panels to the top for longer battery life :)

How much did this all cost you i red all your comments and it said nothing on it

It took about $2,000CDN finding good deals on components (it would have been $3,000)

Excellent work, A shining example of a machine i'd love to own.
I'm looking for some low voltage worklights for my tractor, where did you get the LED headlights?

Very nice work on the tractor...
And excellent video, the editing and pace are dead-on!!!
Do you have a motor controller, or solenoids to control the motor?
This is worth "subscribing" to...
All the Best!
theworkshopdotca 2 years ago
Thanks for the comments.
With everything being controlled hydraulically, I used solenoids and therefore run the motor at a fixed rpm. Simple and reliable.

You do excellent work. :-)
Where did you get the motor. is it new?
WannaBEEfarmer 3 years ago
Thanks.
I bought the motor as new - surplus on ebay. There is a lot to choose from in the 1-5hp category.
cleanpowerelectric 3 years ago
very nice, are you using 2 motors one for the wheels and one for the hydraulic pump? or just one, how??
it that a 2 wheel drive tractor or 4x4 and what can of transmission it has?
why did not you go with 48v, just curious.
bogron 3 years ago
