It will walk all over your neon or civic or whatever on a track. The 8 is a handling sports car of epic proportions. When you come up on a curve and slam on the brakes, the 8 cruises right through the turn and leaves your FWD wiggling and wobbling trying to get traction.
i bought a 2009 rx8 r3 last year and i love it. I had 30k to spend and i could of bought any car in its class that i wanted. i did my research and even read 1000's of douch bags shitty comments towards the rx8. After test driving a 2008 350Z gt convertible which was one i was considering after reading all the nasty comments online. i then drove the rx8 and wow it was a a bette car in every aspect. i now read the comments and laugh cuz they prob never even been in one let alone redlined one.
I've always liked the looks of the RX-8, neat to see one in action (well at least the speedo) with Nitrous. I'm way too much of a chicken to put NOS in my car, at least as long as it's my only car. Feel free to check out a video or two of mine, I have an almost-stock 08 Mustang GT. What other modifications have you made to your engine besides the Nitrous? My next step's gonna be a nice throttle body to replace the stock one.
@Cclebron It becomes addictive actually, I find it only gets annoying on a track when you're staying in the high revs a lot. But when you own one, you end up loving a good old beep.
My saloon (2011 S4) would still win on a track or the street. But I run autocross and yours would rule there. Except you'd be in the modified category and thus up against harsher competition than me.
RX-8 is an amazing handling car, but a bit slow. Pity they won't do turbocharged Wankels these days. Also a pity they're a bit ugly, but very aggressive-looking.
@ImportDreams500 Remember.. most people that drive stock turbo'd cars say dumb shit like that, "i have a TURBO in my car even though its a stock POS!". Which still adds anywhere between 60-75 HP, bring that engine down to a N/A engine then run it N/A vs N/a, if they tried taking a rx7 twin turbo they'd cry as they watched the 13b 3 rotordrive away.. Just leave the little kiddies alone that dont know the first thing about the basics of cars, and your right, supe up a neon its still a neon..
engaging n2o is like a mild boost from a turbocharger... from 230hp stock it might get to 270-280 at higher revs... great difference, but n2o is expensive and needs filling every time
Nice but it's a shame these cars don't have more power. You seem upset with mustang or Z28 owners but these cars can and do handle well and would be miles ahead of you even on a longer track. Short track you'd have a chance.
I should add not all Honda or Mustang owners are douches, it's only the ones that make themselves known and talk shit because they "heard something" or because it's cool to talk shit on a Youtube video, or even because they are flat out jealous. @Brutality110 This was taken 2 years ago. I no longer have this setup on my car. The reason I couldn't go higher then the 65 jettings at the time was due to ignition issues. The ZEX module is not able to adjust ignition timing on the RX8 and the ignition timing needs to be retarded to accommodate higher shots.

@ITS4390 When you have a car that red lines at 8800 RPM, it honestly gets a little confusing on when to know when it's time to shift. I own an RX8, and I wish I had some sort of audible sound to tell me when to shift. You can't always look at the tach....

@07Pyro False. It beeps before you hit redline, which is 9000, but it beeps at 8500. The rev limiter is at 9500 and when you hit the limiter you feel it...

Now I know I can run nitrous in my RX8. It gets tiring hear people talk bad about the rotary. Always talk specs but yet they have never driven one. hp is made from torque and rpm and VE. yes torque comes from displacement but your rx 8 can woop ass because of the high rpm's it achieves. now u do have that 1.3 which is baby but with it bored out and with or even just VE increase you can def kick ass. also u can handle torque better than the 5.0 because u have tall gears. u wont lose traction as easily. remember guys power is useless unless it can be transferred to the tarmac. soooo go rx 8 and fuck the mustang which is a drag car

without turbos, rx8s are pretty disappointing. I've ridden in RX7 turbos, and those were a lot of fun on the straights or turns, the RX8 just wasn't ballsy enough. Nitrous makes anything better though, so you have the right idea. Amazing cars in the curves though.
The automatic RX8's are just pitiful, and there is no excuse for it. A stock 1997 accord automatic can keep up with them, and take them off the line (I've done it).
They are underpowered, but still fun, and certainly interesting.
i've posted a 14.14 in my rx8 with a 55 shot compared to the fairly consistant 14.8 i was getting without it. it makes a big difference for the money. now with the tune from pettit i'll post more times soon, almost garaunteed in the 13's :)

65 hp jettings translate to about 50 whp.
therefore i'd say that put me at about 240whp in these videos.
nitrous is NOT what F&F leads you to believe.. your vision doesn't blur. obviously you can't feel the effect in a video.. but there was definitely is a noticeable bump, particularly from 6k-upwards.

True story, 'finding' another 65 FWHP out of the blue will put you in your seat though. There's just nothing like nitrous.
MY friend is running 100 shot in his totally empty CRX. going from 190hp to 290hp in that little dragster is downright terrifying.

Look in his desription it's only a 65 shot. he doesn't have "enough nitrous in there to blow himSELF up". lol. one of my old buddies had an IS300, it's got a much larger and more capable engine but here's for comparison. Stock he ran a best of 16 flat. after a 75 wet shot and some high performance 275mm rear tires he got a 15.0 on his best run. so it's not like fast and the furious and make your surroundings blurr out with tunnel vision. lol

the only difference is about 10 mph for top speed so it helped a little bit with acceration how much did you spend in mods? for the nos

Had the chance to get an RX8. Got a 99 BMW M3 instead, for less than half the price of the RX8. Couldnt be happier.
Nitrous seemed to make very little difference btw

of course now ive moved onto an E39 M5, 400hp :O quite a handful, but one hell of a car!

Now I assume you are talking about a Mustang 5.0. The motor in my car is a 1.3 liter. 1 point fucking 3 liter. You are comparing that to a 5 liter engine. Are you stupid? Do you know that torque is an element of displacement? Of course you are going to be quicker, retard. Don't embellish in physics.

@alz0rzz I freakin love it when guys get on here talking about how fast there mustangs are haha. I look at it this way, the RX8 destroys in high rpm. Thats what I love about my 7. If i wanted to take off super fast I would just drive my 72 chev around. I prefer my 7 for driving everyday.

hp is made from torque and rpm and VE. yes torque comes from displacement but your rx 8 can woop ass because of the high rpm's it achieves. now u do have that 1.3 which is baby but with it bored out and with or even just VE increase you can def kick ass. also u can handle torque better than the 5.0 because u have tall gears. u wont lose traction as easily. remember guys power is useless unless it can be transferred to the tarmac. soooo go rx 8 and fuck the mustang which is a drag car

The RX8 is more then capable. Yes it is underpowered compared to most of what its compared too but then again it is faster then 90% of the shit you see on your daily commute.. and probably better then what you drive.
That said the RX8 shines everywhere else, if you feel the need to post here and berate it on one aspect you are not a car enthusiast but a hater. Get lost and enjoy your Civic's.

without turbos, rx8s are pretty disappointing. I've ridden in RX7 turbos, and those were a lot of fun on the straights or turns, the RX8 just wasn't ballsy enough. Nitrous makes anything better though, so you have the right idea. Amazing cars in the curves though.
The automatic RX8's are just pitiful, and there is no excuse for it. A stock 1997 accord automatic can keep up with them, and take them off the line (I've done it).
They are underpowered, but still fun, and certainly interesting.

i've posted a 14.14 in my rx8 with a 55 shot compared to the fairly consistant 14.8 i was getting without it. it makes a big difference for the money. now with the tune from pettit i'll post more times soon, almost garaunteed in the 13's :)
