In a twist of "The Monkey's Paw," two boys scare an old lady to death the night before Halloween just as the next night they receive a hand granting them wishes with consequences. <---- the summary from IMDB
I've always been amused by how little water it takes to put out the fire at the end. Like, Gary could pour a teaspoon's worth of water on that shit, and it would go out in seconds.
@DuracellEnergizer Who says that kind of thing???? "Retard" is a horrible/terrible thing to call people that have ADHD. You obviously don't know what it's like to have ADHD because if you did, by what you said, you'd be calling yourself a "retard". Be more considerate of other people. ANYBODY: Click 'LIKE' if you agree.
@Gleelover786221 I was using "ADHD" and "retard" as euphemisms for general idiots with short attention spans. But perhaps I was being insensitive to actual ADHD-sufferers. If so, I'm sorry.
@DuracellEnergizer People that have ADHD are not Retards. There are better ways to say what you are trying to say. It't not right that people use that word/term. Thanks for apologizing.
im not gonna lie, if i ever saw kids like that in the woods telling scary stories to each other, id mess with them all the time, haha im such a jerk =P
This show is amazing and never gets old. I remember watching this as a kid; "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" was my favorite show on Nick back then-fun times :D The new shows on Nick are terrible...we'll probably never see shows like this again. They don't make shows like this anymore :( Nick needs to bring this show back!
Am I the only one who is totally confused as to why the cop would call an 11-year-old to tell him his parents were in a car accident and had to go to the hospital? Why wouldn't he tell him in person and take him to the hospital or to a relative's?
I wouldn't have written "Trick or Treat" on that card. I woudl have written, "Think again before you spray shaving cream in my face, you little asshats."
I don't think having a re-done version of an already popular story was a good idea for a pilot. Doing something like this could've made the show look bad. I dunno, I still think the "Laughing In The Dark" episode should've been the pilot.
@FallenGenerations115 "Tale of the Twisted Claw" was not the pilot, "The Tale of the Phantom Cab" was. "Laughing In The Dark" was episode number 2. This one was episode number 4.
@FallenGenerations115 Although, I'm Canadian, and it premiered about two years earlier here, so maybe the released the episodes in a different order in the states, I don't know.
What bothers me alot is that when the story is over...no one gives any feedback! In most episodes the storyteller says "The end" and then that leader dude just bams in with "I declare this meeting of the midnight society closed!" Annoying as fuck! xD
Did you notice how they make a reference to the "monkey's paw" at the very start of this part, where he said he'd wish for a million bucks and take his chances. The same thing happens in the Monkey's Paw.
@jamielovesjesse Oh, my bad. Well its been a while since i've read the "Monkey's Paw" so the details in my memory are a little hazy. Its a good story nonetheless, thanks for the heads up.
wow at the police officer over the phone lol, "I am sorry son but your parents have been in an accident that could be death" Nice way to break it to him lol
She knew it was them all along that caused her to break the vase. So she gave them the claw in order to teach them a lesson. LOL That's why she sent them the vase.
ohh ok, i thought thats wat it might mean, but like i would have thought they dint have to remind them XD i mean, the vase sending...was kinda over the top on her part in my opinion XD
@chidoriookami Because something bad happened with every wish even though they wished for the right thing to happen in the end. The vase was sort of like a "i got you" type thing from the witch lady.
A LOT of episodes of AYAOTD were inspired by other stories. Such as, Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Watcher in the Woods, Word Processor of the Gods, and so in.
