I think Texas has the right idea when it comes to capital punishment issues. No one thinks about the families that have lost loved ones. Why should we as tax payers have to pay to keep people like this alive. They knew what they were doing when they took a life. Did the inmate give the victum a life sentence. No they gave them death! It's not like the convicts were "surprised" with a death penalty sentence. They know what the penalty for murder is, and when they kill someone, they're pretty much accepting the consequences. well he did have a lot of powers. He could ask the board to recommend for or against the execution and the board usually listens to the governor, because thats he is the person that appoints them.
Also he governor has the power to stay executions for 30 days and in many cases where there were inmates with clear new evidence that they might have been innocent and the governor still refused to stay executions for the courts to review them.

I think Texas has the right idea when it comes to capital punishment issues. No one thinks about the families that have lost loved ones. Why should we as tax payers have to pay to keep people like this alive. They knew what they were doing when they took a life. Did the inmate give the victum a life sentence. No they gave them death! But I also believe in an eye for an eye philosophy, if someone makes the decision to take someone's life away, disrupt families, then I feel the same should be done to the murderer. The only way I feel Capitol Punishment is unjustified is when the case isn't proven a hundred % and an innocent person dies. I feel the prisons are over-populated, risking riots.

It's not like the convicts were "surprised" with a death penalty sentence. They know what the penalty for murder is, and when they kill someone, they're pretty much accepting the consequences. To me, killing someone in Texas is like suicide in that you pretty much say you give up your right to life, except you take an innocent along with you.

people who don't believe in the death penalty see a different purpose for inprisonment... it seems wrong to me to murder anyone out of vengence or personal revenge, for it is hyprocisy and ultimatly unhealthy for a society. murderers are almost always people who have delt with serious mental illness, drug abuse, alcholism etc. it would make more sense to simply lock them up forever in a mental hospital and allow them to seek treatment and keep them safe from the public.

well he did have a lot of powers. He could ask the board to recommend for or against the execution and the board usually listens to the governor, because thats he is the person that appoints them.
Also he governor has the power to stay executions for 30 days and in many cases where there were inmates with clear new evidence that they might have been innocent and the governor still refused to stay executions for the courts to review them.

X means that they have been executed and the numbers are their death-row inmate numbers. Since they got executed they don't get to put their real names on their graves, but just the prison numbers they had.

That's so sad they might have committed a terrible crime but the way that they are laid to rest is just as bad, To not have a name on your grave stone is an example how some states in the US have no regard for human life. People should also think about the prisoner's family who are left to mourn without any support. Just because a person in 1 family kills someone dose not mean that people have the right to judge other family members who were related to that particular inmate.

That's stupid logic, if you kill someone you deserve to lose your life. And anyone who says otherwise deserves to lose a few relatives to violent crimes and then we'll see how compassionate they are.

There's a different between killing an innocent person (e.g. during a robbery) and killing someone who has killed for personal gain or out of malice.
So while two wrongs don't make a right I think that killing a murderer is not wrong.

Australia dose not have capital punishment so I may not be as informed as others on this issue, However I do agree that if someone has committed a murder & there is 100% proof that they did it then they should face death I am just trying to think outside the square on this issue that's all.

It was a mistake, not a deliberate state-sponsored murder. Mistakes happen in every-day life. Thousands of innocent people die mistakenly on the roads of Texas each year, but you don't demand banning cars, do you?

Texas executed Jose Medellin, a fuck that was convicted but thought he should get away because he was an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Mexico. He brutally raped and killed 2 teenage girls. The World Courts put a stay on the execution but Texas carried it out anyway.

How many of these activists there have ever had a family member brutally raped and killed? How many have lost a loved one to a sensless armed robbery or a gang initiation? Would they protest the death penalty for someone who slahed the throat of their 7 year old daughter? I cant belive my eyes people are actually Praying for their family members the same family members that have committed the most disgusting crimes imaginable, personally i dont think they should even have a head stone as they dont deserve it, they shud be burn and chucked away, i cant se how you could stand by and mourn one of your family that for example had sodomised a baby or used little girls as sex slaves, if i had a family member that did any such thing id kill them myself.

Numbers for their tombstone is ALL they fucking deserve! obviously they weren't innocent or else they would not be there. How dare these family members try and claim rights for these idiots(I realize they are someone's family memeber...BUT!!!!?!
