People of my generation have been exposed to The Goodies consistently on one channel or another in Aust - we can't get enough of it (I'm in late 30s). If only they could make some sort of special (don't care if Tim, Graeme and Bill have moved on to other lives!) it would be MASSIVE down here.
Just as great in '89 as they were in 1970. I laughed myself silly over this. I honestly don't think my life would be quite the same without the Goodies.
Lenny Henry apprently really wanted a 10 minute special, but the BBC being the horrid beeb wouldn't oblige and were forced to a limit of 1:30!!! BBC - Bland Bust Cunts.
Back again. I tuned into Comic Relief ESPECIALLY for this and got 1 and a half minutes. AND they answered the phones (well Tim or Bill did). You are so right, what is wrong with the BBC? The Mighty Boosh said in more than 1 interview they were inspired by The Goodies (among others).

The BBC have always been like this. Compare this with their attitude to people like Spike Milligan and Eric Sykes too. And yet they fawn all over people like Wogan and Jonathan Ross.
Britain will do what it always does and ignore the people with the ideas & the creativity (look that Spice Girl & that footballer in America. We're supposed to like them...AAAARGGGHHH!!!!!!!! Don't get me started...)
It's still not working!

Their last show was only in 1982. This was in 1988. And all of a sudden they were old............

I wouldn't say old exactly, tho where graeme's hair went is a mystery

An absolute highlight of the first Comic Relief night, along with a repeat of Steptoe and Son at stupid o'clock in the morning!

You'd have thought the Mighty Boosh would have learned how to be funny, wouldn't you?

@TomRaymondUK they r funny just not as funny as the goodies

It is pretty obvious that Mighty Boosh is the "new Goodies". And the Goodies concept is very well worth building on. Good idea, Mighty Boosh!

I am still so pissed off at the BBC for not giving the Goodies the respect they deserve.

Yeah, it took me a couple of watches to notice that! Nice to see Graeme as a staunch royalist, Tim as an anarchist, and Bill as a loony scientist!

This is so like Humph's ISIHAC intros! I absolutely love it to bits - this is the wittiest piece of writing I've heard for some time.
