And it's true that for most players there's little to no money no matter how talented they are. In france is a bit better.

Health problems? i spent 5 years in the hospitals doing an entire day of phleboclysis every other day. between 5 and 10, and the existential problems... well.... don't get me started..... but if i had to rely on jazz, i'd have to find another job. Writing orchestral music for movies is a good compromise and it keeps me close to interesting music.

At first having the money to buy the instruments.Talent of course.Then having the time to practise few ten thousand hours.Then having a camera,a PC,internet.But having no mean neighbours,no health problems,no existencial problems.He is GREAT - but if he is not having any further money,right person to know,or a banch of good luck,he can be still starving,or freeze to death.

He is young...and I really hope,he can make it ,and not have to get some crappy job,ruining all his musical technique!

i mostly rented the instruments at first, when i was 13. 14. My dad had an old piano in the house. I only ever practiced piano, the rest came bit by bit, year by year. Luckily enough i'm a film composer, so i pay my bills writing music and not playing it, being a performer is a hobby.
