@puls4r1 I know both and drive both motors and can tell you the k20 has just as many variants, both motors have a shit load of potential though so I say it comes down to drivers and the length of the race if it's fair on both ends for the cars, civics are lighter and if they have the full supporting mods with a kpro tuned they make 220whp+ easy and they are n/a so no waiting for boost, but sr's can crank up the boost and everyone knows boost+rwd= top end crazy but stock turbo won't last past 300
@DcEvoIX the u13,s13,s14s14a, and n14/rnn14(import) all have sr20det's but all engines are different, for example my rnn14 is very different to the s14/s14a,, with different head, block, cams,cam pulleys, cam cover, headgasket, ignition, injectors, oil pump, manifold, flywheel, crank, rods, pistons, etc turbos are both t28's but rnn14 is bigger as compressor housing is different, rnn14 also has under piston oil squirters, rnn14 and u13 are transverse 4wd, s13 and s14 are conventional rwd,

@puls4r1 yea I've had great experiences with the handling the only place they lack is the wide open throttle bends, I've gotten beaten out by a porsche and a supra because I couldn't stay open throttle with out understeer. but yea the type r is a b18c or b18c5 here in the states I had the jdm b18c in a civic a couple years back still 1 of favorite motors the build quality is amazing I just wish I had the real jdm type r shell to compliment it even more.

@DcEvoIX yeah the laurel is similar to the stagea (wc34) both would make for quite a good sleeper, never see any s15s in the uk either probably only available in aus and new zealand, my personal favourite import sleeper would have to be the mitsibushi rvr evo, basically an evo 3 engine and drivetrain in an suv slightly detuned and a bit heavier than the evo 3 but would be practical and fun with the right mods/tuning, some nice evo kits fit them too
@puls4r1 the closest thing we have to the evo 3 is the old mitsubishi galant vr4, which is still a pretty good sleeper since alot of people don't know it's awd with the 4g63, they are a bit heavier and a little less power but they can make great power and be really fast, I still wouldn't mind having 1, I would take that over the eclipse gsx anyday.

@puls4r1 we had alot but missed out on the really good stuff, we had the 300zx, 240sx which everyone swaps in the sr20, galant vr4, 3000gt vr4, eclipse gsx, honda's with every swap imaginable, toyota cressida, starlet, ae86, supra, celica gt-4, rx7 until 97, mx5. that pretty much sums up the good stuff there might be more I'm not thinking of but that's everything I know off the top of my head as far as cars I would buy.

@nissan240driver not true, if anything honda motors are over engineered. I had numerous stock 1.5 liter, jdm d15b's that I boosted to 10 lbs on stock fuel pump, all I upgraded was injectors, valve springs, and retainers, and seals. That motor came stock 130hp, with 10 lbs I got it up to 200 hp, and that thing ran with me beating on it for 4 years. I have a friend that built a sohc vtec to 400hp, on stock bottom end, honda engines are made to handle good amount of boost stock.

Err theres SR20det, RB20det, RB25det, and RB26det... no SRB anywhere. SR is a straight 4 and RB is a straight 6. Other differences include RB's being cast iron wheras SR's are aluminum (spelling is shit) and RBs haveing a cambelt and SR's having a cam chain. There's heaps more but blah cba listing em. But yes I agree RB20dets suck if you're goina have an RB get a 25 or 26 (if you're loaded), but SR20's are nice engines, light and powerful (if you can mod em right)

@puls4r1 the closest thing we have to the evo 3 is the old mitsubishi galant vr4, which is still a pretty good sleeper since alot of people don't know it's awd with the 4g63, they are a bit heavier and a little less power but they can make great power and be really fast, I still wouldn't mind having 1, I would take that over the eclipse gsx anyday.

@puls4r1 we had alot but missed out on the really good stuff, we had the 300zx, 240sx which everyone swaps in the sr20, galant vr4, 3000gt vr4, eclipse gsx, honda's with every swap imaginable, toyota cressida, starlet, ae86, supra, celica gt-4, rx7 until 97, mx5. that pretty much sums up the good stuff there might be more I'm not thinking of but that's everything I know off the top of my head as far as cars I would buy.

@DcEvoIX we didn't have the 240sx here, our equivalent model is the 200sx but it had the sr20det from factory,only one we didnt have was the cressida, think you missed out on the gti-r's, evo's and imprezas, nice cars worth getting if you can find one, love my boosted 90's jap cars especially with a bit of rally history too,

@puls4r1 I used to have a 03 evo I loved it, 03 was the 1st year evo that came here and 04 for the sti, the wrx we had in 02, some people got the 1st gen impreza rs and swap in the sti motor as well as the 02. we also had the lexus sc300 (jdm toyota soarer 1jzgte) but we had a 2jzge that people either boost or do 1jzgte or 2jzgte swaps.

@nissan240driver not true, if anything honda motors are over engineered. I had numerous stock 1.5 liter, jdm d15b's that I boosted to 10 lbs on stock fuel pump, all I upgraded was injectors, valve springs, and retainers, and seals. That motor came stock 130hp, with 10 lbs I got it up to 200 hp, and that thing ran with me beating on it for 4 years. I have a friend that built a sohc vtec to 400hp, on stock bottom end, honda engines are made to handle good amount of boost stock.

Err theres SR20det, RB20det, RB25det, and RB26det... no SRB anywhere. SR is a straight 4 and RB is a straight 6. Other differences include RB's being cast iron wheras SR's are aluminum (spelling is shit) and RBs haveing a cambelt and SR's having a cam chain. There's heaps more but blah cba listing em. But yes I agree RB20dets suck if you're goina have an RB get a 25 or 26 (if you're loaded), but SR20's are nice engines, light and powerful (if you can mod em right)

This honda was built of course and raced a stock sr20, probably a s13 sr with 202hp at the crank and 180hp to the wheels. congrats a built honda beat a stock sr20... 1 for honda..... lol
