  • @0Weblas0 I just thank the Lord that my parents were never abusive or anything and I was never even spanked or hit as a kid and no male in the family or anyone period ever abused me sexually in any way. Watching that movie made me so sad for Precious and so angey at that crazy mother. But MoNique did play that part very well.

  • Mo'Nique really played that part so well she made me hate that character, that mother was really insane and really was a monster. That movie was really deep and disturbing that someone can even be that way.

  • monique played this roll on point. she actually made me scared in some scenes

  • @jaeOneS2 Exactly that was some deep scary stuff!

  • She so desreved her Oscar!

  • 07042011911 MANDATORY YOUTH PROTECTION WE WILL RISE! CALL 911

  • @astrophysicist40 why on every video about Gabby or pertaining to Precious you you comment about she doesn't need to be in the lime light "but you like her"?! Your mentality is why women are sticking their fingers down their throat! Smh Do me a favor get a life a learn about true beauty because Hollywood ain't baby!

  • She TOTALLY deserved her Oscar. I was even surprised about Mariah Carey. I had this pre-judgment that Mariah is just a Diva/Awesome singer...she can't act. Monique, Carey and Sidibe were FANTASTIC actresses in this film.

  • @lambyiii And Paula Patton...(:

  • Her character may be fictional, but I've seen people just like her. Their families have long histories of incest, family violence, and other disgusting habits. The only feeling they have is anger.

  • Mo ROCKS!

  • ah hads to axe him a qweschan :D

  • I'm sorry if this comment offends anyone, but I honestly believe that the scene where she says, "he" (her husband) didn't stick it in the ass as a response to Precious's concern for her regarding an Aids test was absolutely hysterical.

  • @Mugensenpai LMAO I totally agree!!!!

  • Dayuuuum Monique lol.....they really made her look rough in this movie but it was worth it :)

  • In the movie, she is someone i wanna kill! But here, she seems to be a good person :)

  • she's lucky to look so pretty without makeup.

  • Excellent answers, she's has a very eloquent with explaining things, and is well-spoken. She does any amazing job explaining and describing how she feels.

  • Mo'Nique totally fit the role .. I hated her in the movie which means 'job well done' :).

  • I LOVE MO'NIQUE!..SHE'S SUCH A HUMBLE PERSON!

  • @lilpimpok (Y)

  • @westkiller1234 What do u mean "Y"??..I have had the honor of meeting her in person and she is as she appearss. I just think she's real down to earth and represents well for (us) her black people ..thats all I meant...I know a good soul when I c one and Mo' definitely has a good soul.

  • Woaaaaah Mo. She's brave for getting on camera raw-faced like that lol.

  • i love mo"nique

  • This was probably the best acting job I've ever seen. She played the FUCK out of that role.

  • Mental illness--she has it! lol

  • i liked the title push a lot more then precious, but precious is good too in its own way

  • lol I just saw this movie and she was amazing!!! I still hate her as a person in this interview!! That's how convincing she was.

    Amazing.

  • Monique deseved EVERYTHING she got in this moive she played dat damn role

  • mo'nique is so bad ass

  • i love her

  • When i Watched The Movie I Tried So Hard Snot to Crie!!

  • Monique speaks well, like she knows when to be cool & down to earth & when to be serious

  • abusing mother~ yeah.,.she's a good actress~ she can do her role well :3

  • i love Monique, i wanna hug her

  • I could easily tell that Mo'NIque had a very difficult time talking about her role in this movie because of its nature. She was amazing in the movie though. You go girl!

  • monique is so incredibly beautiful but they seriously made her a new face for this movie. she was phenomenal in precious!

  • is it me or monique looks bleached?

  • @BlaqueBelleza I was thinking the exact same thing. Maybe its make-up to make her lighter skinned for the part, i dunno.

  • ashenesha

  • Love Mo'Nique. She killed that role

  • Cant look at her the same way

  • she was incredible in Precious

  • i smell collard greens while watching this

  • @truwoman01 i smell wet dog...

  • @TheMacro49 LMFAO!

  • do yall see that wool on her head

  • @ fucked up English turtle: you are a gooddamn animal!

  • Mo'Nique is a brillant actress.. Im so happy she wins the oscar! She deserved it! Great movie!

  • What the fuck is wrong with you Hippocrates. stop commenting shit about the movie GOSH! it is fucked up the movie was good

  • "but at the same time...you almost feel sorry for her"

This bitch is an idiot. I never felt sorry for that lady. I despited her throughout the whole movie.

  • @EnglishTurtle you have to look past what she does and think about why she does it. all of us are born innocent babys and know one is born evil, evil has to be intruduced to them.

  • She was brilliant in that role. She totally deserved the Oscar. Totally. And even though at the end they let her tell her story and made her a 'sympathetic character', she still got no redemption. She lost everything and could not recover from her mistakes. GREAT writing.

  • I read the book 2 weeks ago and watched the movie last night. Is the story based on a true story then?

  • @hazelwitchhazel Not necessarily. The character "Precious" is actually a combination of students Sapphire knew during her years as a G.E.D. instructor. She also combined elements of her own life into the book.

  • why she says "aks" instead of "ask" ???

i thought it was only about the character of the movie but she says it here too???

  • @MissVTime Well, "aks" is regional dialect. It is not considered "proper" English by lexicographers, but it is dialect nevertheless.

  • @tantzer thank you

  • @acpenn09 i so agree u see these people day in and day out and wonder how does this happen how is this possible its crazi

  • I think some people never come to terms with the abuse that they have allowed to go on

  • The female abc teacher is super hot! so is conswayla!!

  • And the fucked up part about this is that I work at a grocery store and I see her character in real life and it hurts me when I see it. You won't believe the type of people that exist in this world.

  • Not trying to battle you or anything but... You cannot base someones life and reasons on looks and split second on conversation that includes plastic or paper.

You shouldnt not pity those who may look similar to her and may have a sassy attitude because their life could be better than yours even though they may not have as much money as you.

  • Her hair is short in this clip.

  • OMG! I cannot believe these ignorant fools writing crap. Blondie, it is NOT your world, your ancestors came in the bowels of a ship with the rats, and the lice and were treated bad by people like you. All of a sudden is your land? NO, It is the Native Americans' land, NOT yours. Besides, the white race is becoming extinct, haven't you heard? dumb ass?

  • Oh! really - then I suggest you give all your bank account and real estate to your closest Indian Tribe and leave this country...

  • @soniaartist

    Preach, sista!

  • @soniaartist Exactly. Within 50-100 years, there will be no single race. No Mexicans, no Blacks/African Americans, no Asian Americans, no Whites...we will all be one singular race. We will all be recognized as multiracial.

  • does it matter ?

  • @junhuji33: I agree withTasuki335, it sounds to me that you dislike your look and life style. So why sit and bash a celebrity that has a great career and making good money?

  • @juhuji33 Um, I hope you know that the way Mo'nique looks now, is only because of the movie makeup. I hope you know, an is just not a dumbass....

  • @duffymama lol

  • look at Monique, beautiful, strong, articulate, wonderful, strong, and i feel she should have gotten THE AWARD OSCAR, i have so much respect for her, never before as a commedian, thought she was just ranchy, as an actress i love her and respect her, we are giving so much to Precious, understandibly so but MONIQUE character was the true acting, dynamic

  • You people that are trying to be witty with your hatred, it's not working. Look in the mirror. You're pathetic.

  • @blondex21 i know how you feel! i thought the same thing! but then i found out shes going to be on a new SHOWTIME DRAMA ahaha Oprah knew what she way saying ahahhaha

  • Oprah is extremly biased and sees the world through rose colored glassses...If Gaby were white she would have kept her mouth shut...

  • Honey you need to do hopmework before you post things like that. Look at all the book that oprah has backed that have been written by caucasion writers, Look at most of oprah's audience is caucasion. Oprah supports eveyone honey...

  • @TheOnepoeticsoul - and just what part will Gaby play on Showtime Drama?

a fat black maid? a fat black waitress? Oh I just thought of the perfect role for her

The life of AUNT JEMIMA !

  • And what part should you play in? the ingorance of a typical blonde.LOL your funny, put a pic up what do u look like?

  • it doesn't matter what I look like, I am white, it's my world, you just live in it....that sounds brutal

but take a look around...you ARE judged by the way you look...

  • Mrs Blondex In reply To your comment I have left you one as well in video hope you enjoy.Learn something.

  • @blondex21 Do the research on "Aunt Jemima" and find out who she really is. You spoke of her as if she would be a disgraceful character to play. No, "Gaby" can't play the typical blonde, she's smarter than that. She'll make her own way in life and critics like YOU won't stop what her destiny is. Even if she doesn't do another movie, she's made a mark that....ummmm YOU haven't. It might be your world but she sure is running more of it than you are. Can you say RED CARPET? LOL

  • How do you know? what makes you think I never walked the red carpet? As for'Gaby' making her own way in life, she won't have a very long one unless she has a salad now and then....

  • Queen Latifah is just as big... and she has and always will accomplish a lot... stop hating sweet heart. If you don't believe me GOOGLE her and you will see for yourself.

You sound like a person who has no confidence in their self and likes to nag on others how perfect they should be because your not.

  • @blondex21 I read the comment you sent about her needing to eat a salad now and again. I agree, her health should be the number one issue..but YOU have taken it to a lower level, her appearance. Having an intelligent discussion concerning health issues is one thing... attacking her because she isn't anorexic and blonde is another. You said how do I know you haven't walked the red carpet? LOL...ummm, let's just say that you give good hints that you haven't!

  • @aids0907 it's obviously a reflection of how you see yourself ;)

  • @olskoolrich i actually laughed at that! ahaha you are to funny! amazing movie though :)

  • VVVVV bucket of chicken lmao VVVV its so true

  • I am not taking anything away from Mo'Nique and her win...

    BUT...

I work and have always worked in the hood...and I've never seen anyone steal a bucket of chicken and run down the street.

    C'mon man!

  • Congratulations Mo' Nique on your win! I am so proud of you! I hope you get to see this post- I will remember this for the rest of my life. You carried yourself like a true goddess-good for you

  • Monique did a great job but I just saw a bunch of hell in that movie... the chicken stealing.....wow....I just loved when they showed that clip at the oscars........the darkness is in the film but the absence of light....meaning God....is a no for me....I've been thru some hell in my life and so have others I know but something can always be learned from it and God sees us thru......WERE WAS THAT IN PRECIOUS.....What was to be learned from this movie besides a horrible look at molestation

  • @reejuice2 The real puspose was to display that everyone is who they are because of/ or in spite of their past...many ppl wld look at a person like Precious(overweigh, illiterate, low self esteem, mother of 2 illegitimate children) and demonize her but all of those things were a result of something that was beyond her control...knowing someones past helps you understand their present

  • congrats on your oscar

    amazing performance

    and movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can't make it up ... so true!!!!!!

  • GENIUS interview!!!!!!

  • Mo'Nique is so cool. I thought she was amazing as Precious' evil as mother.

For sure going away with the Oscar!

  • @ssilva872 i know

  • This movie can serve as inspiration for parents to be more loving and affectionate Not only limited to parents but to everyone as human beings.

  • ITBrandonSilver...

    Excuse me...I stand corrected...MENTALLY ILL!!!

That makes all the difference. You obviously have no vocabulary with all that profanity.

    BITCH!

  • You tell him...lol what you said was spot on. The Oscars always award the films that make us look worst..don't be decieved people.

  • You GOD DAMN IDIOT.

Mo'Nique plays a mentally ill mother in Precious. Not anything you named up there. So if you know nothing about what GOOD ACTING is, then SHUT THE FUCK UP, and get some education.

  • god....I will never understand America...are you (Blacks and Whites) going to be fucked up by the color of your skin forever?

it is true that African Americans have not been represented well through the history of Oscars but c'mon...Mo Nique was amazing in this movie...and you know why it is a triumph? listen to her speech...Regards

  • r u talkin about black poeple dang shut up dont be cussin at god

  • @olskoolrich I kind of agree with your comment

  • Movie was fantastic!!! Hope they get the oscars they deserve.

  • yeahh she was fabuloss

  • Belíssima interpretação... MARAVILHOSA!

  • amazing performance.

  • Shit Mo'Nique

  • monique your so great!

  • On the contrary, I think that they have a bunch of makeup on her to make Mary lighter. It does make sense given the character

  • what's up with her skin? Thats not its normal color?

  • she doesn't have no make-up on!

  • thank you

  • Good interview.

  • ik! the ending was terrific. very emotional tho. yet, outstanding.

  • I LOVE the fact that Monique's hair is natural! She's so versatile...Comediane and Actress...mom and wife... Outstanding.

  • I was really surprised at how well she did in the movie because she's a comedian. Now I know she's also a dramatic actress. Her speech at the end of the movie is terrific. I read some of the prior comments and no not understand the sellout perspective. She's an actress!

  • Monique role reminds me of past clients.

  • I love the fact that she totally understood where her character's head was at. Bravo Mo'Nique!

  • @KatrinaGustavRuled dont you realize she is mad up now to look like "Mary"

  • @KatrinaGustavRuled u r a fool because she's wearing make up right now..

  • no she not they just washed her face...every one in the movie had no make up on

  • @Mssmartypants94 well i still believe she have make up on. she plays a character in a story so of course they are going to make her up like tht..

  • she does have some makeup on. like the pimples and fake hair color are all makeup. it's amazing how much makeup can transform can transform someone.

  • @toddstathum I'm a professional working in the entertainment business. I really appreciate your observations when it comes to my craft.

  • No problem. I think it's amazing what makeup can do. :)

  • i just love monique....her comedy is a lil sketchy sometimes but hey she's human

  • I used to be afraid of Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. Now I'm just afraid of Mo'Nique.

  • @Thomistica this movie was chilling to me...her character is exactly like my mom and i daydream a better place just like precious...i didnt realize it was that dark until seeing the film

  • @meneedmoney are u being abused. omg

    gamagan1

  • MoNique is The Best!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that movie was good and mo'nique act ver well she pulled it off very good its like she really did a great job she deserves a award.

    mo'nique is the best

  • im pretty certain that she will be nominated for a supporting actress role, she deserves it this is such a hard role to pull off

  • she answered those questions well

  • she asked all those questions so well. she also played that part so well.

  • i finsih it in i day i loved it

  • Mo'Nique rock this movie she should get a Oscar

  • i just seen the movie monique deserves an OSCAR

  • Mo'Nique, you are a beautiful lady and a great actress! You rock (even if you did play an ornery, irascible, and abusive mom.)

  • Monique definitely needs to be nominated for an Oscar, her performance was brilliant.

  • Monique's performance in this movie was amazing. I'm so used to seeing her in comical roles, but she pulled this role off so well. She definately deserves an award for this.

  • Monquie did a great job she should at least ger a nomination.

  • If PUSH means "Pray Until Something Happens" then it's the opposite of empowerment. People should be encouraged to make things happen not pray for them.

  • i almost shit my pants when she yelled and cursed and ran up the stairs to beat her "daughter" precious. Mo'nique was that great that she made me believe she can beat the shit out of anyone.

  • The director, the cast, and everyone else who had anything to do with making this movie did a phenomenal job. This was a really excellent film and I encourage anyone who has ever felt down on them self to go take this movie in. Moreover, I must applaud Mo'nique, she was exceptional in this movie as was the entire cast but Mo'nique nailed the character so well that even though you hated her and what she was about, you felt bad for her and wanted to know how she got the way she was.

  • This movie is GREAT and I know Monique will win a award! She took my breath away

  • how did moniqure seell her self i don't get it she was great int his movie and showed she can be more then a comedain she be be a true actress i love this movie

  • How in the hell is monique a sellout?!?!?!

This is whats wrong with us! People wake up, shit like this actually happens to kids and the last thing we need to do is shove it under the rug. Stories like this needs to be told. Not every movie has to be a fairy tale, because thats not how real life is. Monique was damn good in this movie and so was the rest of the cast. I loved the movie.

  • she looks scary without make up

  • I think that is her makeup for the movie, notice the stains on her teeth...

  • that is not make up

    the teeth is thou

  • @SheridanBryant I agree

  • When you are making art that sends a clear and important message...NOBODY involved is selling out.

Mo'Nique...I wish you all the best. You've made me laugh (saw you live at Disney World last year) and now you've impressed me in yet another marvelous way.

  • Did anyone who is screaming "exploitation" and "selling out" even SEE the movie? No one sold out anything. The wonderful actors in this movie brought the book to LIFE in the greatest way. THIS STUFF IS NOT MADE UP, ITS A LOT OF PEOPLE'S REALITY. Mo'Nique played her heart out, and so did Sidibe and Carey and Patton. They deserve recognition and praise.

  • i don't understand why it's okay to make movies about white crackwhores living in trailor-trash America, yet people complain when the lives of misunderstood black women are depicted in film. Your argument is ludicrous- calling Monique a sellout.

  • this movie was great!

  • you guys are taking this way to seriously! its a movie! The things that are going on in the movie do happen in real life. they're cruel & harsh but at the end of the day what you need to realize is that these are characters chosen to tell a great story. In my opinion they couldnt have picked a better cast! They told a great story & ultimately its gonna end up helping someone. How are they sellouts?!

These aren't issues that only affect blacks! All races go through abuse!

  • @Futuregoddess2010 Thanx for your comment!! I'm sick of people adding more to things that don't necessarily needs it. I think this movie gave a voice to a lot of people that we see everyday and just write off at times. Incest.poverty, abuse happens. It's the people that are able to stop this cycle of b.s. or at the very least do something positive for the victim of it and does nothing are the true sellouts.

  • thats real life thats what goes on

    white black hispanic asian indian

  • @Prenique I definitely agree

  • she was perfect! what does selling your soul have to do with anything in this movie?? She played a character... the end

  • Mo'Nique did a fin' good job
