1996 is one of my favorite years of Miss Universe. Spectacular opening at that time, great beauties from the batch. I think that the delegates from Venezuela, USA and Philippines were one of the most, if not the most beautiful representatives from their countries. Finland has a classic beauty. Everyone is competitive.

I think they should always do it by continent... i dont like alphabetical order... it makes it seems so dull and dragged out... By region you don't know who they're going to show in what order, so it makes it more interesting... i think they used to do this with the Miss USA too, by like new england, midwest, south (DOes any1 remember that?) maybe im wrong... but miss uni did it in the 90s

this is because the popularity of beauty pageants has started to diminish from the mid-90s up to now. At least nowadays it's a little fair as you don't always see Miss Venezuela and Miss USA in the semis. ( Note : i have nothing against Venezuela and USA ). Asian delegates received very low score in general especially in the swimsuit competition. Why ?????
