  • Love the music!!!!

  • wtf do they fuel thoose cars with? 100 liters of lightergas?

  • do they not know that fire extinguishers don't put out racing fuel fires? its just like a grease fire with a piece of bacon that splatters and gets on the burner... you need some type of powder.

  • The song is 'Nowhere Fast' and is taken from the 'Streets Of Fire' soundtrack.. Not really sure who the artist is tho

  • was the car loaded with napalm? or were the fire extinguisher loaded with compressed air? It took a lifetime to put that fire out...

  • El musico del SUCKO!

    Chango! Reposto!

  • Can anyobody tell me what is this song exactly? The video is really shocking but this song is awsome!!!

  • I only hope the driver couldn't hear the music.

  • Fuck that.

Reminds me of the Roger Williamson F1 crash where the poor bastard burned to death while the marshalls did fuck all to help.

  • That was the worst fucking choice of music man, jesus h christ man.

  • I'm a firefighter...and a racer...and that was PATHETIC!..........

  • There's nothing "funny" about this video!!! Adding music was a bad mistake!!!

  • @FastJandD

bullshit this music rocks, you are just jealous

  • @Theneongray2 I seriously hope you're just kidding there meatloaf. . .

  • if these guys knew what they were doing would surprise me.you never point the extinguisher at the BOTTOM of the flames and drive the flames back into the cockpit where the driver is still seated. first person there should point it at the driver and so one of them who ever can get in to the car and help the driver..Gene was very lucky in this..you need a real fire truck with real trained firemen doing the job to save your ass. to all racers its your life make your track do this for you.

  • I hate Meatloaf, but the song was a funny addition to the video.

  • Just a tip to the safety guys.If you don't put petrol in the extinguishers it makes it much easier to the fire out!

  • Wow, I'm just glad he's alright

  • Most tracks in the US, have volunteer firefighters, and paramedics on hand....I think they might know what they are doing. Racing fuels (especially banned ones) are difficult to put out. Loads of nitro, magnesium in solution, aero hydrogen, on and on.

  • tracks have beeen sucessfully sued by injured drivers for having crappy safety equipment and crews.

  • what's with that retarded meatloaf music? he's lucky his helmet didn't melt onto his head.

  • Now imagine if was 3 cars on fire, and not just one ... Those crap equipment from rescue team, with small poor extinguishes, could not help3 cars. See how sometimes they activate extinguishers and the fire increase. ALmost like there was gasoline in the extinguisher. It' cause the water spreads flamable liquid, spreadind the fire

  • You can have 20 small fire extinguisher activated in groups of 2, a par by another, but will not be the same as one or 2 big ones, cause a small extinguisher can't cover the fire in entirelly to move oxigen out and kill the fire.

  • Those low budget small races, with smaller or sheaper cars, use to have stupid firefighter teams, or shit rescue equipaments. And the stupid announce that mistake and said he was out the car lead the fireengine to delay a lot. Those small extinguishers, most water only, what the fuck... Stupid organization could killed someone. A guy in Nascar died of burns in the 90's cause the firemans took a eternity to arrive and put fire out.

  • what nascar driver burned to death in the 90's?

  • Gary Batson died in hospital due extensive burns, about 80% of his body, in 1992, after a nascar crash fire. The car collided with other and was with starting fire even before stop. The rescue took almost entire minute to arrive.

I think that for such long his nomes (fire resistant) clothes do not hold enough. Many pilots use clothes with more layers of nomes. Single layer do not protect much. Drag racers use about 5 or 6 layers, very thick.

  • "I swear, that's the last time I ever crush up dynamite and mix it with the methanol for a little extra kick."

  • Pretty well all sprints use magnesium quick change rear ends. Most parts on these cars are either magneium, chromemoly, titanium or aluminum. Most of these cars run on methanol alcohol too. Fire crews should be equipped special for sprint racing.

  • The flame is coloured orange - this means, that there's a lot of magnesium parts of the car. Magnesium is very flammable and hard to suppress. It's very strange, that the sprintcar builders still making cars with magnesium parts. In Europe magnesium was banned in late 70-s.

  • why the hell put this music on there??? :S

  • Horrific!!

I have seen some of this video before and guessed that he died. I am very relieved that he got out ok. I hope the officials learned from this incident. Thanks for the full posting. Here's another crash/fire i thought was fatal for a long time till I found a full posting.

    watch?v=QlXqyLoABYQ

I fully cheered when I saw this video through.

    Regards

  • Yes a bulk form truck should have been used here as small poweder ones a just for fast knock down and the fire crew should have been in full race type fire sutie and should have let the other drivers pull him from the car as they where in full suites and helmets, If you look at a race sutie they have straps near the shoulders that can be used to pull a driver by if they in frie or out to it

  • What moron decided for the track rescue crew to were forestry uniforms?? I dont know why they are always shocked when they can not put of the fire with a household 5 pounder. Dry chemical does not protect against re-ignition and the heated metal would just re-ignite it anyway if the small ext. did mange to extinguish it. Tracks should only use 20lb+. purple K exts. for dry chemical and AFFF/FFFP foam exts. Also a pickup with a CAFS set up would have killed that in ~5 seconds.

  • I think the racer organizer and sponsor don't understand any shit about fire fighting, since they only allowed a poor equipment to the team.

  • man

what a lucky bloke he was!

    :S

  • Yeah, lucky and a little fireproof too... some of the rescuers had more serious burns.

  • OMG poor bloke, it seemed as though he was trapped in there forever. I am very surprised that they were not better equipped to fight that fire considering that this was racetrack and that cars, obviously, run on FUEL!!!

  • Hi iceprincess! In this particular race circuit they did improve their safety measures, they're better prepared now.....

  • Another good one
