Ak! Paganini is timeless, that is true, but this was not. I suppose it made for a terrific live performance, and I do enjoy Mae's playing to a degree. But this does not capture the haunting or enchanting dynamic of the solo piece at all, it actually kind of mocks it. No wonder so many other viewers here hated it! I would almost say that this was deplorable.

Haha straight up haters who probably couldn't play to save their lives! Haha my only criticism is that the tone for the electric violin does kinda suck... Jean-Luc Ponty gets pretty good tone with his electric violin I think so it IS possible. I enjoyed this, quite immensely!

Try to remember that she was doing a pop concert, not a classical one.

I don't know what you think, but consider it that way, it was good after all.

I do agree that this is not the right way to play Paganini, but please think about how hard she and other musician must have been working to create this performance. By thinking this way, she's done a great job, as a pop musician.

While I do applaud Vanessa's ability to play the violin, which is quite good, I'd like to point out how she's trying to bring classical music to a modern generation by adding pop/rock elements and, while that in itself is commendable... it just doesn't quite work.

I myself enjoy many types of music, and I can only hope that Vanessa does a bit better in the future, with the whole bringing classical music the the masses bit, eh?

I like Vanessa Mae's style a lot. Not to say I prefer it over the classical style, but it is interesting.  I think often it lacks a lot of the original power the piece had, and I think that's also the case here, but it's something that's always interesting to listen to. This also happens in her arrangement of the Devil's Trill sonata, where she loses much of the beautiful melody, I feel.

Kind of cool though.
