@ilovegod300 you're right, that Houston Rocket team, especially the team that repeated would have been a tough opponent even if michael jordan would have been playing, w/Hakeem playing at such a high level, a matchup between the two teams would have went 7 games and home court would have played a major role in the outcome.....great points about Derek harper/Jeff Hornacek....I think Hornacek would have been more potent because he could create his own shot, and automatic from the free throw line
@ilovegod300 awww yeah, good ole Herb Williams...lollll.....the knicks should not have celebrated too much, they beat a chicago bulls team missing it's starting shooting guard for the past 9 years....Scottie Pippen was definitely robbed of what should have been his moment....
@ilovegod300 when Pippen sat out that 1.8 seconds, word had it that when Jordan found out, he called phil jackson and said that was the cardinal sin of sports..loll......Phil Jackson knew that Toni Kukoc had the knack for hitting big time shots, and he made the right call, and at that moment, that showed me that Phil Jackson was the game's greatest coach in the league. Pippen unleashed the greatest playoff dunk ever when he unleashed the fury over patrick ewing...
@ilovegod300 great points man, I was routing for the knicks to finally dethrone the bulls but even myself knew scottie pippen got robbed when hugh hollins made the worst officiating call in the history of the nba playoffs, pippen made a clean block on hubert davis, I don't like it when officials determine the outcome of games, and eventually series.....Pippen would have at least took the bulls to the finals for a chance to win a 4th straight title.
@ilovegod300 I agree man, w/out DUMARS, as great as ISIAH THOMAS was, detroit never beats chicago in the playoffs because dumars had to guard the ultimate shooting guard in JORDAN, and he had to score on offense to and did it, mvp of the 89 finals, clutch shots, big time defense, consistency, he's definitely one of the top 50 greatest players of all time because he delivered when he had to
@ilovegod300 excellent points man...PIPPEN arguably is the most misunderstood player in the history of the game in regards to his game...people don't know, and I just found out last year, PHIL JACKSON said in an interview during BULLS practice, that JORDAN asked PIPPEN to show him certain baseline moves to the rack from his left hand that PIPPEN could do better than him...heck, PIPPEN had to defend JORDAN in practice, that alone grants 50 greatest player ever distinction..
I tell yall what though, JOE DUMARS should have been named one of the greatest 50 players of all time because he had to defend michael jordan in the playoffs AND had to score also....and he won 2 championships back to back
@ilovegod300 very good point man.....pippen scored 33 points in game 5 of the nba finals against my lakers, made tons of clutch shots in the close out game vs. the knicks in 93 in game 6....PIPPEN could have been a greater scorer than he was, but he sacrficed his game for the better of the team, plus JORDAN earned that right to be the go to guy due to the fact he was there 3 years before PIPPEN entered the league
Everything that can be possibly said about MJ has been said but watch these 4 games against the Bad Boys and tell me Scottie Pippen doesn't belong in the HOF with him.
In regards to the comment about the case for Drexler as 1991 MVP, I couldn't agree more with kOrOne79. Jordan averaged 10 points per game more than Clyde (31.5-21.5) while still shooting a much higher percentage (53.9-48.2) and having fewer turnovers. Drexler's rebounding and assist averages (6.7 and 6.0) were slightly higher than MJ's (6.0 and 5.5) but Jordan averaged nearly a steal per game more than Drexler (2.7-1.8) and was stronger on defense. I loved both players though. Clyde could ball.

@ChiSox2386 actually, im mj's biggest fan, but i have to say that kobe went closer to anybody to acheive mjs standard. but he'll never be the cultural phenomenon that mj was, which changed the way we see sports today.

@francoisgrenier actually I disagree with both of you, I am MJ's biggest fan, I remember damn everything on Jordan from the shoes, to looney tunes, the Jam video with Michael Jackson, McDonalds, the clothing, golf, Hanes, Gatorade, cars, starting lineups figures, the dream team, the restaurant in NC, ProStars with Bo Jackson and Wayne Gretzky, the best selling videos and the books and Rayovac (I still use those b/c of him). Sorry but I'm claiming the title of MJ's biggest fan.
@highflyer1985 Acyually, I'M MJ's biggest fan. I've had my clit surgically altered to look like Jordan's face. I also have a couple of signed jerseys.
And check the amount of contact Jordan takes at 7:14-7:17. Raked hard with two arms across the face/chest by Laimbeer, and then watch on the follow through of the shot as Dumars or someone else literally clotheslines him across the head/neck on the way down. Wow. These cats today wouldn't last.
You got that right. The game has changed so much. It's a shame. I think the NBA's demise has been due to the lack of physical play allowed. Everything is a technical and a suspension. Fuck what happened between Detroit and Indiana a few years ago. Shit happens. Don't change the way the game is played over nonsense.
Seriously. I mean even look at 5:29, when MJ gets blocked. The amount of contact allowed, while MJ was faced towards the basket, plus the handchecking and pretty much using your hand to guide/keep the momentum down on the offensive player (MJ) to help with the block.
The beauty of it all... no complaining and flailing of the arms (sheeesh! Can't stand that about today's games). And if there is, its just a gesture or small signal to the ref while still concentrating on the game.
I'll say its more 'hand touching' and very rarely if ever when a player is closer to the key driving in.
Everything is a foul, where it stops the flow of the game. And the worst part is players STILL BIITCH about not getting a call. And when there is real handchecking, the announcers call it, and players whine to the refs about it. Anyways, that's what I see (and I'm sure alot of others which is why scoring is way up, fouls are way up and viewership is way down)
You mean a prime Michael Jordan '88 - '93. That Jordan would easily score yeah, without a doubt 45-50ppg in today's NBA. '88 - '93 was a superstar Jordan. Nobody in the history of the NBA would stop Jordan in those years. The '96, '97, '98 Jordan where the bulls won their second three peat was an all-star Jordan because of his age, and the 2-guards defending him at that time were just so-so 2-guards i.e. Hersey Hawkins and Detlef from sonics. Hornacek, Eisely, Anderson and Russell from utah.
RESPECT you opinion but i disagree about the 96-98 comment if you listen to his coaches and his team mates he was actually better from 32 to 35 as player. First of all he could still dunk from the free throw line at 34 and during the 96 season he was quick enough to guard guys such as stockton, A Johnson, KJ, Tim Hardaway, damon stoudamire ( who was scary quick back then), Gary payton etc, but RUDY T summed it up best in 98. "He is tougher than ever still the best athlete but so much smarter"
Also he didn't do as many highlight dunks and crazy play because he wanted to avoid injury and fatigue but believe when he felt like it he could do exactly the same stuff, now as a Wizard I agree he was not the same, but had he not had the knee trouble he would have finished that 02 season averaging over 25ppg LOL as a 39 yr old on a crap team. Sorry but But IN MY OPINION mj was the greatest and at the same level from 90-98
i think the 96-98 version of mj was still incredibly fast and strong, but was definitely not as fast as the 84-93 mj( but his first step was still there sometime). but that doesn't hurt much he can still jump and was super super smart. the way he played in 96-98 was probably the smoothest ever, as well as the whole team play( rivaled by maybe the prime larry bird)
I agree with everything you say my friend. But if he was slower it wasn't by much and this was due to his increased size absilutely unbelievable, like horry said people never realised how strong the guy was
not so sure about the second half of your comment. just because the team the bulls faced in the playoff didn't have good 2 guards doesn't mean they didn't play good team defense. but then again who is good enough to guard jordan anyway? drexler? cooper or majerle? the fact is no one in the history of nba has a consistent record of stopping jordan. even those so called good defenders like alvin, doug christie and so on, none.
People should take note of the intensity Jordan played with in this entire series on both ends. Just ferocious. You never see any of the stars today save perhaps for Wade occasionally play full blast like this for an extended period of time (much less full games, never mind full series). He just expended tremendous energy on the court, and still had enough after this series to go on to have one of the best Finals series of all time. Amazing conditioning.
i was just thinking watching this : what if todays Cavs, Celtics or Lakers team 'd face those Detroit Pistons of old ?? And how would todays superstars react to those aggressions ?? Nice vids by the way, Love it !!
jordan was just shooting jumpers..ppl say he always attack..but here..he was just shooting jumpers..jordan at times only settle for jumpers...but he makes it them jumpers consantaly..thats why his FG% is almost 50% for his career...jordan and kobe got that deadly mid-range jumper
I really liked your channel and this video. If you need any help getting this video exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position.
what a match up! loved the detroit-chicago wars. lol at pippen hitting rodman. who would have predicted that they would be teammates in the future and be part of the best team in NBA history.
Look at the intensity, how furious the two teams are going at it. This doesn't exist in the NBA today. I cant think of any game I've watched in the last 10 years that can match this. It's sad, but it aint coming back.
I really like the way the Bulls played in 90's. All players on the court played their roles well. They were not playing one on one offense, and they had great team defense.
It's kind of sad to watch today's USA team all players play one on one offense, no team work at all! That's not pleasure to watch those one on one offense games....
If NBA players find back the way they play offense in 80's, 90's, they will win much easier in Olympic games. Just like dream one.
Rodman knew how to make anyone lose temper. It's hard to believe how Rodman became a "good boy" in Bulls. I guess he wanted another champion, or MJ, Pip, Jackson won his trust.
you ll like rodman if he is on your team, but i think you would hate him if he is not on your team, love him but also hate him in different situation, haha
and that football analogy is terrible. the rusher has one goal in mind: get from point A to point B as fast as possible and hit point B as hard as possible. the o-lineman would need his hands to stop a brute force like that.
offensive basketball players arent just trying to sprint to the basket: they have to worry about dribbling a ball, not charging into the defensive player, and are trying to get the ball into the basket.
defenses were getting too tough to beat without the implementation of the hand checking rule. if you watch the trends for defensive statistics, you can see that defensive stats peaked (lowest ppg and fgp allowed) around 2005: the year of the spurs pistons finals.
i think that summer the hand check rule was tightened to allow less contact on the perimeter. since then, offensive stats have been climbing to late 1980s levels and defensive stats have been getting worse
Spurs and Pistons played boring games! They were good in defense for sure, but both of them always slow down the games, it became a trend to slow down the games since late 90's. Only two great teams played both great defense and offense in recent 12 years, they were Bulls and Lakers. They won total 6 titles and also made audience happy. Other champions from 1999? Not a pleasure to watch.
"dumars aloud to put his hands on him, that's called handchecking".that line by hubie brown perfectly illustrates what michael went against and stars of today go against.
Back then, "hand-checkers" were supposed to make life miserable for ball-handlers. That's why those games were so competitive: the more personal contact, the harder it was to put the ball into the net. Hand-checkers forced ball-handlers to flex their muscles and their brains to avoid or overpower the hand-checker and try to score. Otherwise, the hand-checker could get a steal, make a block, or--even better--draw a foul (pushoff).
I heard someone make a good analogy: they said it would be like an offensive linemen trying to keep a rusher from the quarterback without using their hands. It's an impossible task.
Hand checking has been a missing techniques today. Even NBA allow hand checking today, they will need years to go back to the excited games like 80's, 90's.
And they say Kobe's better then MJ ha please. People who say that don't really know the game. Jordan is a better post player and a way better defensive player, Kobe "might" have a better jump shot, other then that Jordan is in a higher class. Plus the main thing I see is MJ has a stronger will then Kobe. MJ wanted to destroy you and make you a non factor again.
Naw, Jordan proved over his career that he was a better jump shooter by bringing a better mid to long range jumper. And he still shot over 50 percent constantly.
Great point, and Kobe is a mid to upper 40% shooter thats why I said "might" cause Kobe shooters more outside jumpers where Jordan was mid-rang shooter but when he wanted to go long he could with the best
Great point, and Kobe is a mid to upper 40% shoots thats why I said "might" cause Kobe shooters more outside jumpers where Jordan was mid-rang shooter but when he wanted to go long he could with the best
Exactly. There probably wasn't a shot that Jordan could develop because of what you said...his will. If you challenged him to do it he could do it. Plus he played in an error where you allowed to be tougher on someone defensively.
So true because the era he played in you could rough people up, there was hand checking allowed I think that changed after the 91-92 season before Jordan's first retirement but now in the NBA you can't touch no one or you'll foul out in the first quarter
Right and for those that don't believe it take a look at some of these clips. Especially the one that shows Barkley after someone had jacked his eye up
Jordan certainly deserves winning the 1991 NBA MVP. But you can also make a good case for Clyde Drexler as well. Considering Portland finished w/ a better regular season record than Chicago that year.
Portland won two more games, but Jordan's stats and his defense made the difference I think. Remember, the Bulls went 69-13 in 1997, but Karl Malone was named MVP, although the Jazz had a 64-18 record that year.
Yeah, that's why Jordan was afraid of playing in Portland because they had the better season record. In the interview with Ahmad Rashad after game 4, Jordan said he'd prefer playing the Lakers in the Finals because the Bulls would have the home-court advantage (the Bulls, I believe, had more wins than the Lakers in '91).
I wish this series was included on the dvd Learning to Fly set. It only has the 5 finals games no conf. finals. The Motor City Madness dvd set of the '88-89 season has both the Det/Chi series as well as the Det/LAL series.
At 4:00, MJ gets stripped and runs back at mach speed to get back on D. Today's stars would be standing and verbally flopping to make excuses for getting worked. At 5:30, MJ is hand-hip-checked by 3 guys and dishes it out to get the open look. Brilliant. If that was today, you'd have 3 whistles of course. At 6:15, the Jumper is head level with the rim. That extreme-elevated Jumper has only been done by MJ. These 3 plays belong only to the smartest and most athletic player ever.
I just wish Detroit had more time to prepare for the Bulls. They still could've won the series but gave up. I hadn't seen this game in about 16 years and the players on both teams look a lot quicker than I remembered. I guess when you watch today's game it looks slower and much less physical and efficient than how guys played back then. I'm a Pistons fan but I had to give it up for how the Bulls responded. Great game and great post. I wish Detroit had more time to prepare for this team.
The Pistons beat the Boston Celtics in six games in the previous round. I just think that since the Bulls for the first time ever had home-court advantage was the bigger factor.
even if they had Thomas for a full season they would still lose to the Bulls cause it was just their time ro roar, that was passing of the torch, plus when Jordan started giving those assists, they were due to a breakout series
The way Michael played during that seasons playoffs was great. He let his teamates get going in the first half and in the second half he dominated. This game was a perfect illustration of how he played the entire 1991 playoff run
mnyvsr, I think the summary is an actual news summary of the game from 91, i.e., the two instances you cite hadn't happened yet. Great post korone, you've got a lot of games I haven't seen...keep up the great work.
As an aside, it still amazes me how physical it was back then, and, conversely, how non-physical the league is now. I miss those days.
"No NBA team has won a four-of-seven-game series after falling behind, 2-0, since 1977." FALSE, the Miami Heat did it in the 2006 NBA Finals. Ditto for the Chicago Bulls in the 1993 ECF.
I love the intensity of this series. It really brought out the best basketball out of both teams. I also think Jordan was at his most determined in this series.
There were no more excuses, Bulls, especially MJ had to win this time. I still think if it wasn't for their failure in the years '89 and '90, the Bulls would've never been a dynasty, they had to take that particular hurdle at all costs.
Wow, Jordan got DESTROYED at the 7:16 mark -- first by Laimbeer across the chest/face, and then across the side of the head by Aguirre as he fell to the ground (watch closely). Ouch!
What a battle between Jordan and Dumars ! Dumars hands were all over him , would any defender get away with this with todays rules ? Jordans focus is very evident...
Holy crap they fouled hard back then. kobe would get beat up in that era.

Those kind of fouls would be an automatic ejection today.
Mykoveli 2 years ago
You got that right. The game has changed so much. It's a shame. I think the NBA's demise has been due to the lack of physical play allowed. Everything is a technical and a suspension. Fuck what happened between Detroit and Indiana a few years ago. Shit happens. Don't change the way the game is played over nonsense.
lakergreat80 2 years ago
And if there is, its just a gesture or small signal to the ref while still concentrating on the game.
at1212b 2 years ago
I agree for the most part, but there is still a lot of hand checking in today's game.
hooptron 2 years ago
I'll say its more 'hand touching' and very rarely if ever when a player is closer to the key driving in.
Everything is a foul, where it stops the flow of the game. And the worst part is players STILL BIITCH about not getting a call. And when there is real handchecking, the announcers call it, and players whine to the refs about it. Anyways, that's what I see (and I'm sure alot of others which is why scoring is way up, fouls are way up and viewership is way down)

TODAY a prime mj 90-98 could you imagine with these new soft rules he would be a 45-50ppg scorer
mj45jh23sp33 2 years ago 3
You mean a prime Michael Jordan '88 - '93. That Jordan would easily score yeah, without a doubt 45-50ppg in today's NBA. '88 - '93 was a superstar Jordan. Nobody in the history of the NBA would stop Jordan in those years. The '96, '97, '98 Jordan where the bulls won their second three peat was an all-star Jordan because of his age, and the 2-guards defending him at that time were just so-so 2-guards i.e. Hersey Hawkins and Detlef from sonics. Hornacek, Eisely, Anderson and Russell from utah.
olympiag1 2 years ago
RESPECT you opinion but i disagree about the 96-98 comment if you listen to his coaches and his team mates he was actually better from 32 to 35 as player. First of all he could still dunk from the free throw line at 34 and during the 96 season he was quick enough to guard guys such as stockton, A Johnson, KJ, Tim Hardaway, damon stoudamire ( who was scary quick back then), Gary payton etc, but RUDY T summed it up best in 98. "He is tougher than ever still the best athlete but so much smarter"
mj45jh23sp33 2 years ago 3
Also he didn't do as many highlight dunks and crazy play because he wanted to avoid injury and fatigue but believe when he felt like it he could do exactly the same stuff, now as a Wizard I agree he was not the same, but had he not had the knee trouble he would have finished that 02 season averaging over 25ppg LOL as a 39 yr old on a crap team. Sorry but But IN MY OPINION mj was the greatest and at the same level from 90-98
mj45jh23sp33 2 years ago
@mj45jh23sp33
i think the 96-98 version of mj was still incredibly fast and strong, but was definitely not as fast as the 84-93 mj( but his first step was still there sometime). but that doesn't hurt much he can still jump and was super super smart. the way he played in 96-98 was probably the smoothest ever, as well as the whole team play( rivaled by maybe the prime larry bird)
popeyeisgood 2 years ago
I agree with everything you say my friend. But if he was slower it wasn't by much and this was due to his increased size absilutely unbelievable, like horry said people never realised how strong the guy was
mj45jh23sp33 2 years ago 2
@olympiag1
not so sure about the second half of your comment. just because the team the bulls faced in the playoff didn't have good 2 guards doesn't mean they didn't play good team defense. but then again who is good enough to guard jordan anyway? drexler? cooper or majerle? the fact is no one in the history of nba has a consistent record of stopping jordan. even those so called good defenders like alvin, doug christie and so on, none.
popeyeisgood 2 years ago
piston's 2 guards was good but it was the team d that stopped jordan for 3 straight years( as well as the immature bulls relying too much on mj)
popeyeisgood 2 years ago
People should take note of the intensity Jordan played with in this entire series on both ends. Just ferocious. You never see any of the stars today save perhaps for Wade occasionally play full blast like this for an extended period of time (much less full games, never mind full series). He just expended tremendous energy on the court, and still had enough after this series to go on to have one of the best Finals series of all time. Amazing conditioning.

what a match up! loved the detroit-chicago wars. lol at pippen hitting rodman. who would have predicted that they would be teammates in the future and be part of the best team in NBA history.
ilovetfc 3 years ago 2
Look at the intensity, how furious the two teams are going at it. This doesn't exist in the NBA today. I cant think of any game I've watched in the last 10 years that can match this. It's sad, but it aint coming back.
jumpnam 3 years ago 4
I really like the way the Bulls played in 90's. All players on the court played their roles well. They were not playing one on one offense, and they had great team defense.
It's kind of sad to watch today's USA team all players play one on one offense, no team work at all! That's not pleasure to watch those one on one offense games....
If NBA players find back the way they play offense in 80's, 90's, they will win much easier in Olympic games. Just like dream one.
jimmychuang 3 years ago
Rodman knew how to make anyone lose temper. It's hard to believe how Rodman became a "good boy" in Bulls. I guess he wanted another champion, or MJ, Pip, Jackson won his trust.
jimmychuang 3 years ago
you ll like rodman if he is on your team, but i think you would hate him if he is not on your team, love him but also hate him in different situation, haha
accepttrue 3 years ago
and that football analogy is terrible. the rusher has one goal in mind: get from point A to point B as fast as possible and hit point B as hard as possible. the o-lineman would need his hands to stop a brute force like that.
offensive basketball players arent just trying to sprint to the basket: they have to worry about dribbling a ball, not charging into the defensive player, and are trying to get the ball into the basket.
khawaja1951 3 years ago
defenses were getting too tough to beat without the implementation of the hand checking rule. if you watch the trends for defensive statistics, you can see that defensive stats peaked (lowest ppg and fgp allowed) around 2005: the year of the spurs pistons finals.
i think that summer the hand check rule was tightened to allow less contact on the perimeter. since then, offensive stats have been climbing to late 1980s levels and defensive stats have been getting worse
khawaja1951 3 years ago
Spurs and Pistons played boring games! They were good in defense for sure, but both of them always slow down the games, it became a trend to slow down the games since late 90's. Only two great teams played both great defense and offense in recent 12 years, they were Bulls and Lakers. They won total 6 titles and also made audience happy. Other champions from 1999? Not a pleasure to watch.
jimmychuang 3 years ago
God, how nice was life for John Paxson on that team? Just jogs up the court and finds a little opening while MJ slashes and gashes the D.
TBlake34 3 years ago
"dumars aloud to put his hands on him, that's called handchecking".that line by hubie brown perfectly illustrates what michael went against and stars of today go against.
60425 3 years ago
You mean, stars of today DON'T go against. Hand-checking is now illegal.
TBlake34 3 years ago
Sad, isn't it?
Back then, "hand-checkers" were supposed to make life miserable for ball-handlers. That's why those games were so competitive: the more personal contact, the harder it was to put the ball into the net. Hand-checkers forced ball-handlers to flex their muscles and their brains to avoid or overpower the hand-checker and try to score. Otherwise, the hand-checker could get a steal, make a block, or--even better--draw a foul (pushoff).
mackcrusher 3 years ago
I heard someone make a good analogy: they said it would be like an offensive linemen trying to keep a rusher from the quarterback without using their hands. It's an impossible task.
TBlake34 3 years ago
Hand checking has been a missing techniques today. Even NBA allow hand checking today, they will need years to go back to the excited games like 80's, 90's.

MJ is a devil on court!
jimdip21 3 years ago
And they say Kobe's better then MJ ha please. People who say that don't really know the game. Jordan is a better post player and a way better defensive player, Kobe "might" have a better jump shot, other then that Jordan is in a higher class. Plus the main thing I see is MJ has a stronger will then Kobe. MJ wanted to destroy you and make you a non factor again.
jaboo82681 3 years ago 2
Naw, Jordan proved over his career that he was a better jump shooter by bringing a better mid to long range jumper. And he still shot over 50 percent constantly.
jeditwinz 3 years ago 4
Great point, and Kobe is a mid to upper 40% shooter thats why I said "might" cause Kobe shooters more outside jumpers where Jordan was mid-rang shooter but when he wanted to go long he could with the best
jaboo82681 3 years ago
Great point, and Kobe is a mid to upper 40% shoots thats why I said "might" cause Kobe shooters more outside jumpers where Jordan was mid-rang shooter but when he wanted to go long he could with the best
jaboo82681 3 years ago
Exactly. There probably wasn't a shot that Jordan could develop because of what you said...his will. If you challenged him to do it he could do it. Plus he played in an error where you allowed to be tougher on someone defensively.
jeditwinz 3 years ago
So true because the era he played in you could rough people up, there was hand checking allowed I think that changed after the 91-92 season before Jordan's first retirement but now in the NBA you can't touch no one or you'll foul out in the first quarter
jaboo82681 3 years ago
Right and for those that don't believe it take a look at some of these clips. Especially the one that shows Barkley after someone had jacked his eye up

Jordan certainly deserves winning the 1991 NBA MVP. But you can also make a good case for Clyde Drexler as well. Considering Portland finished w/ a better regular season record than Chicago that year.
paulp1021 3 years ago
Portland won two more games, but Jordan's stats and his defense made the difference I think. Remember, the Bulls went 69-13 in 1997, but Karl Malone was named MVP, although the Jazz had a 64-18 record that year.
kOrOne79 3 years ago
Yeah, that's why Jordan was afraid of playing in Portland because they had the better season record. In the interview with Ahmad Rashad after game 4, Jordan said he'd prefer playing the Lakers in the Finals because the Bulls would have the home-court advantage (the Bulls, I believe, had more wins than the Lakers in '91).
mackcrusher 3 years ago
I don't blame him, but I still think Chicago would have won in the end because they were on a roll during that years Playoffs

3DStoneCt 4 years ago
The Pistons beat the Boston Celtics in six games in the previous round. I just think that since the Bulls for the first time ever had home-court advantage was the bigger factor.
mnysvr 4 years ago
even if they had Thomas for a full season they would still lose to the Bulls cause it was just their time ro roar, that was passing of the torch, plus when Jordan started giving those assists, they were due to a breakout series

That's right, it's from the NY Times (game summary from 1991). It's pretty obvious when you think about it.

"No NBA team has won a four-of-seven-game series after falling behind, 2-0, since 1977." FALSE, the Miami Heat did it in the 2006 NBA Finals. Ditto for the Chicago Bulls in the 1993 ECF.

jxn23 4 years ago
There were no more excuses, Bulls, especially MJ had to win this time. I still think if it wasn't for their failure in the years '89 and '90, the Bulls would've never been a dynasty, they had to take that particular hurdle at all costs.

Wow, Jordan got DESTROYED at the 7:16 mark -- first by Laimbeer across the chest/face, and then across the side of the head by Aguirre as he fell to the ground (watch closely). Ouch!

I think it was Isiah, not Aguirre. Other than that, you're right, Bad Boys at their best :-)
