  • My favorite part: 1:25-2:26 you handled that solo pretty damn well.

  • Very good. Have tried to play this myself. Excellent cover.

  • Is there anywhere that I might find the drawbar registration settings for this song? I sold my B3 back in the 70's ( bad back and I couldn't haul it any more). Now I have a Nord Electro 2...not the same, but pretty good sound form what I use it for.

  • @Keyboardman88 As per how Gregg played it, check out the Evil Ways Woodstock vid on youtube to see close-ups of his registrations. They are: upper A# 888800088, B 880000000 (start of solo, then gradually pull more starting with first white drawbar); lower A# 004000000; Chorus C1 on for both manuals; Percussion all 4 up (On, Soft, Fast, 3rd Harmonic)

  • @dtimm612 Thank you for your information. The Nord only has one set of drawbar simulators, but when using the split function the upper half ( above middle C ) and the lower half can be set individually. OR....a second keyboard midied to the Nord becomes the lower keyboard and the Nord keyboard is the upper. I'll try your settings.

  • awesome

  • 2:12 EPIC!!!!! you're great dude! :)

  • You sir, are amazing.

  • ottimo..............

  • A sweet tribute to Gregg Rolie, the God of mind-bending space-rock keyboard java.

  • Great Job.

    Just a suggestion:

Change the Equalizer a little bit to more bass and guitar.

Other than that: No mistakes and excellent job!

  • nice

  • to hell with the 6 people who disliked this. you kick ass, man!

  • 1:50 to 2:06 is like impossible

  • wow lol thats so awesome!

  • bitchin'!!

  • well done.

  • wow that solo was sick

  • I thank you so much for your performance of "Evil Ways." I would like to know if the right hand notes for solo section are published anywhere. I just cannot seem to pick them up by ear and would love to play the song. I would greatly appreciate if you could tell me where I might find a copy for organ/keyboard.

Thanks again for the wonderful performance.

  • cool technique...however, you should get somebody to replace the felt strips under the keys because they are very noisy and are very audible on the track, that is a disaster on recordings. It's cheap and easy to do if you know how to disassemble the keyboards.

  • I know I need that done, those felts are rock hard! At least the black key felts are still good though. Just have to find the time to do it

  • Can you make a "how to" video?please!love this song!

  • The notes sound right and everything but the only problem i have is that the "pops" on beats 2 and the "and" of 3 are too short, maybe hold them out just a little longer, but other than that really good cover and sick organ

  • Great job - thanks for sharing!

  • Hey man, kick-awesome sweeps up and down the keys. Do those officially have a name?

  • The sweep is called a Glissando, a few other common organ techniques are palm smears/hand percussions

  • Nice job on the solo.

  • well done thats great keep up the good work

  • DAMN awesome solo!!!!!!keep on rockin!

  • A minor?

  • G minor

  • gotcha

  • dtimm612 this may sound stange but what religion are you? pentecostal? i know a lot of GREAT organists that are pentecostal so i was just wondering.

  • Hello d-Timm-612,

you play good and sovereigen, and I beleave that

    you don't need the notes.

Thank you for this and your others Music-Videos!

    Many greets from Germany,

    John

  • dude that was AWESOME. I'm just learning the keyboard; you are my new hero. ROCK ON.

  • I got chills from the organ solo man. Dead on.

  • Damn hell, perfect :D great organ!

  • where do u get the notes?

  • this one can be found in the Hal Leonard book "Santana's Greatest Hits Transcribed" which includes all instruments, congas, timables, organ, guitar tab, bass tab, etc. Nice book to have for any early Santana fan

  • you´re the best brother.Congratulations from Spain

  • excellent. that b's in top shape eh? what year is it?

  • The Hammond B3 is a 1958, and the Leslie 122 is 1968

  • That thing sounds AWESOME!

  • DDUDE! I LOVE IT GREAT JOB! :)

  • sick

  • nice job!

  • Good five stars!

  • Sweet! 5 Stars *****

  • WOW! Great stuff, buddy! I wish that I'd run across this sooner, as I had to play it in a little jam band that I'm in, earlier today. (I just faked it, as usual). It sounds like your keystop felts (or whatever they're called) are wearing out, just like mine (circa 1947 BCV; no percussion, I'm afraid). It's part of the charm of a vintage instrument, I suppose. Keep it up!

  • NO!!!!!!!! GET YOUR OWN SOUND!!!!!

  • very good solo just about note for note, did you figure that out on your own? i guess you can;t move that beast very easily?

  • Excellent sounding, great looking organ. Authentic playing, but I'd prefer if you put only MIDI track in the background(only drums and bass), not the original song...it messes up the organ solo a bit. I really wanted to put this organ solo in my compilation video(The Greatest Hammond Organ Solos), but I couldn't find any good quality live versions of it played by Greg Rollie. I considered using your version, since it's awesome, and probably would've used if it wasn't for the background track.

  • In hindsight I should have just panned the sound to the right side, because the organ is only on the left channel through the entire album

  • what kinda leslie do you have 122 or 147

  • It's a late 60's 147, but with a 122 amp in it

  • Is this guy Greg Rolie? Has anyone seen them in the same room at the same time?

  • Afraid not, the closest I've come to the man was shaking his hand once after a concert in 2006, nice guy too.

  • Brilliant I have never seen that done before. could you please do Savor.

  • Good choice, my favorite Santana song. I posted it along with this video a few weeks ago, just search my video postings.

  • One of the first solos I learned on the organ. You pulled it off! Great Job!!

  • Really good job. I loved this song ever since I had the album with the woman and lion on it. I have been working on playing it on my B3and learned alot from watching and listening to you. Thanks so much! I might try just a solo organ version. Loved those preset sounds. The lead is a little tricky, so I might cheat a little on that. LOL!! Thanks again for uploading.

  • Me and my friends did one of this song also for our junior high talent show. i played keyboard.

  • what kinda preset are you using

  • Bb was 888888008, B was 888000000, lower manual was just 003000000. C3, all perc. tabs up

  • Awesome - any chance you have the solo scored?

  • I have waited for the solo part to see if you'll changet the preset. :) So many times I have played this solo... Keep up the good work! ;)
