Your voice changes every single day of your life. Julian's voice isn't going to sound like it did when The Strokes first started out. Personally, I didn't think this performance was horrible. His voice was raw it didn't sound like the recording which shows that Julian is creative and accepts how his voice is. He doesn't need to lip sing like singers today do he's already extremely talented. So what if he was possibly sick he got through the song and it still sounded great.

Believe it or not, Deaf enjoy music in a different way. There are even bands within the deaf culture. Even though deaf people cant hear the music they can enjoy the vibrations from the instruments. Instead of a singer they have a person signing poetry or in this case the interpreter was translating what Julian had to say.
