  • that wasn't live performed, right???

  • I've always wondered about the whole "gay voice" thing. I mean listen to this guy sing, and then to hear him talk. Not a gay/strait thing, not even an attack on the voice. Clearly not all homosexual men have it, I've just always wondered about it.

  • His talking voice shocked me compare to his his singing voice!! But amazing !! :)

  • Rufus' music isn't my favorite but I do enjoy a good chunk of his work. He's a tremendously well trained lyric baritone, and you cannot deny his unique sound. He's so talented and he really should be more popular than he is. What a guy.

  • wonderful lyrics, wonderful voice. he's dreeeeeamy

  • Wow. He sings like a god!

  • that album is amazing.

  • no one in this genre has inspired me as much since Dylan Bob ...

    jon lukas woodenman

  • "I have to win over one fan at a time"

Well, you didn't have to win over me, I won myself over the first note I ever heard you sing :)

  • i'm so excited to see him in concert in a month!

  • @loiesmoof I saw him on sunday. It was absolutely astounding. Speechless doesn't even cover it.

  • What song is this? Really nice voice.

  • What a guy

  • Gosh, he's so sexy!

  • Argh, Rufus, I love you so much!

  • Woofus Wainwright!

  • omfg...rufus wainwright is an amazing singer!

  • Saw this live last week and was incredible !

He is note perfect...sounded exactly as on the album!

  • "I was born in the living room" Tee Hee!!!

  • love how he is note perfect even live - lots of people struggle with that but rufus just does it effortlessly. totally adorable man x

  • @2base

    He's not a bitch you're a bitch!

He's a really nice guy so you can go to hell!

  • Falmboyantly.

  • @jjay75

    because he is

    woooot

  • Amazing man

  • Woah, he talks like David Spade!

  • How can he talk like that when he sings like that? o_o

Not trying to be mean, or anything...

  • What's the name of this song?

  • Going To A Town

    Album - Release The Stars

  • @ hummer14455 thank you very much!

  • going to a town

  • wow his demeanor when he's singing vs. when he's just sitting and talking is like night and day... or gay and straight... whatever.

  • Comment removed

  • For six years I've been teased by my brother and sister about my love for this man; wouldn't want it any other way.

  • If I was only 20 years younger and if he was heterosexual..it would be our destiny to be together.I love you Rufus!

  • Gay or not rufus is adorable and gorgeous and adored by gay and straight men and women all over the world. He's an inspiration to the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Keane and the Sisscor Sisters. On top of that he writes beautiful songs and manages to stay authentic and doesn't sell out.

    He's a iconic hero!

  • Woofus Wainwright!

    =P

  • I wanna marry him too...(I'm a 60 year old woman)! haha

  • Rufus is an amazing talent.

  • from his singing i didn't picture is voice like that, not trying to be mean, just saying it wasn't what i pictured, even though i already knew he was gay

  • We're getting married... once it's legal of course<3

  • he is gay dont boo me either that oer hes metro sexual and dont say hes married its called a cover up girl k (:

  • does it really matter at the end of the day? I mean...no-one comments if you're heterosexual!

  • true i really dont give a shit either wether he is or not

  • You're welcome ;)

  • smoothjazzweolfe, we are sharing same feelings and thoughts about this man. Im straight too, but cannot deny that he is exteremely attractive for a man, especially how he looks to you. Anyway the song he is singing is "going to a town", wonderful.

  • Nicely stated! Thanx for the music info

  • So really good song. Beautiful melody, nice voice. Great men.

    Harry Cañari

  • Ok...I am a straight man. I am telling you, besides being one of the most talented singers/songwriters/Pianist...He has got to be the most attractive man since Elvis Presley. I am serious; This is a beautiful man! My sister is a lesbian and I really am disapointed in some of the incredibly immature and homophobic statements. What is the name of the song he is singing on this video? It is fantastic!

  • "going to a town"

  • Thank you It's a great song

  • Eeek! He's so handsome. Not to mention talented, quick-witted, etc. I could go on for HOURS. ^-^

    Thankssomuch for posting!!!

  • wow, he's cute.

  • Uneducated homophobes who find nothing better to do than insult gay people on Youtube... eew...

  • Thank you. You've saved the rest of the trouble of coming up with a decent insult. ^-^

Personally, I don't think I could have said it better myself. ;)

  • I agree, thank you very much(:

  • Sorry, I'm not good enough at English to understant what Jonathan is saying just before Rufus answers "No, no, I was born in the living room," which is obviously funny, but I don't get the point. Can anybody help me pls? What is Jonathan saying and what does that "being born in the living room" mean?

  • It's about his sexuality, he asked if he was ever in the closet, which means kind of that you are gay, but don't tell people, and he responds I was born in the living room because he is saying it was never really a secret that he was gay

  • Thank you, Hemanthemannequin, now it's clear to me. So to be born in the living room is an idiom for not to have secrets / to be watched by people / to go public?

  • It's not really a common idiom at all, just an example of Rufus' quick wit. The more used idiom to describe a gay person becoming public is to 'come out of the closet'; the phrase 'to come clean' would be a more general term to describe someone or something becoming truthful, or to go public/tell their secrets :)

  • Thanks for explanation. I'm still learning.

  • ross: were you ever 'in'

    (as opposed to 'out')

rufus: i was born in the living room

(he was never a closeted homosexual)

  • you can really hear the classical influence.

  • He's so fabulous.

  • PERFECT.

  • Wow his voice is so much more different than I imagined! I expected it to be deeper like his singing voice... not complaining though, he's so cute :)

  • sleeps with whoever lol

  • oh gawd im so sick of interviewers going on about the family. they always have to bring it up again and again even when rufus and martha have been established artists for a long time and everyone knows about it. i find it so boring and repetitive, so i cant imagine how bored rufus and martha get of answering those questions!!

  • Everyone knows about it??? Excuse me no they don't!! If you already know about it pick up the remote and change the channel and leave other interested people to watch in peace!

  • what amazing and powerful lyrics he writes x

  • Whoa not gonna lie his speaking voice surprised me, he sounds a lot different when he sings.

  • Yeah, he does. haha It's rather like hearing Hugh Laurie speak with his natural British accent after watching a House marathon or something. XD

  • Hes Very Canadian... cute!

  • He has a stronger gay accent than I expected.

  • hes gay but a great singer i luv him

  • You mean AND a great singer?

  • yeye

  • I was just about to respond to him with the exact same comment. (: Good job man.

  • "He's gay but a great singer"

Would you ever say, "Well he's left-handed, but a great singer" or "He has brown hair, but he's funny"? My guess would be--probably not because it doesn't make sense do discriminate someone for something he or she has as much control over as determining the length of his or her index finger...

So stop raising your "fag flag" every time your gay-dar goes off you douche nozzle.

    :)

  • Are you serious? I'm sure he was just trying to show his appreciation for Rufus as an artist regardless of his sexuality...Sure, he may have chosen the wrong words, but there's really nothing to gain by flaming him because of it. Ease up...Throwing our guards up at the slightest sign of offense is but only one of the ways we as the gay community are isolating ourselves further from the general population...Tolerance goes both ways, yes? sorry, but that kind of reaction irritates me...

  • I totally agree with you.

And not just because I'm gay myself.

  • @sacapuntas08

I agree that it shouldn't be said in the first place but to point it out like this is pretty douchey.

Not everyone in the world is content with gay people yet, and I don't think they will be until people just let it be.

So what if they said that? It's not going to make them anymore excepting if you try to put them in front of an audience about it. It'll just piss people off.

  • woah i was really taken aback by his talking voice... not expecting that. love him though.

  • "I was born in the living room" ROFL, that's fantastic....Rufus rocks! Release The Stars is a fantastic album and I'd recommend it to anyone! :)

  • I found out about him in the same way.

  • I love this song <3

  • "i was born in the living room."

    hahah

wow i was laughing so hard when he said that

  • "I was born ithe living room..." god, that's funny. you GO rufus, you sweet little hottie of a man.

  • oh hey, didn´t see it is you:)

why is that funny? what does he mean?

  • Born in the living room.. as in, never in the closet.

  • there is no violin here, but that does not matter.. its not needed. but the guitar does not play anything, that the violin played on the original track..

btw are you shure that was a reply to my comment?

  • well isnt he just beautiful

  • i cant believe that live voice..that is so fucking amazing

if i had to fuck a guy...

  • He's hot when he sings, cute when he talks. Both work I guess.

  • i totally want his hot ass. i can't believe people are bringing up this homophobic crap. it really pisses me off. the only reason i would want rufus to not be gay is because i want to make sweet lovin to his hot sexy body. mmm

  • Great song. Great artist. (Nearly as good as his sister!)

  • can someone PLEASE disable comments for this video

  • What a great quote from Rufus near the end of the interview..

'I was born in the living room'.

He's very original and charming and he really suits his hairstyle too.

  • Uhhh dude you ever wonder why the bible says that?? Because you can't procreate male on male, or woman on woman, as god (if he exists even) gave sex as a gift to procreate not for pleasure, so i guess the same could be said for any man and woman couple using a condom, or having oral sex, or anal sex as you can't procreate that way. So if you've ever had sex without the intention of having a child, you are just as bad as bad as homosexuals, but then again Im bisexual and madly in love with Rufus.

  • Love him!

  • You all say it's too bad he's gay. Thank God he's gay...the guy's adorable. Oh, the music being good don't none either.

  • Thank God he's gay? That's a bit counter productive...But I completely agree haha

  • I'm glad he's gay cause so am I. I think he's one of the most adorable musicians ever. But either way, the music is more important than who he wants to fuck. So I support good music.

  • i luv rufus this interview is hilarious!!!

  • who's the drummer?

  • 1. of course he's really singing

    2. I LOVE his reaction to the mention of "Rufus is a Tit Man"

  • Is he actually singing here it looks as if hes just synching.

He is amazing, but here he looks odd.

  • this i the first time i saw him and fell in love

  • what kind of comment is that? seriously. so unnecessary & plain pathetic.

  • i think you've misunderstood me. i meant a waste of me fancying him because he's gay. i wanst being homophobic. i think he's amazing actually.

  • Re jetulik;

Dick should be so bloody lucky.

    Rufus is ,quite simply,a genius.

  • He actually got raped when he was 14...poor guy :( I might not agree with his lifestyle but he makes amazing music :)

  • you might not agree with his lifestyle. why whats his lifestyle?

  • He's homosexual.

  • The bible does say that it's a sin to be gay, but it also says that people who work on the sabbath should be put to death. You can't just say "It's not my fault I hate gays, the bible tells me to" because you're already picking and choosing which parts of the bible to follow.

  • That's not relevant, because the bible says many things are sins. In Isaiah 14:21 the bible commands that the sons of sinners be killed, and I doubt you honestly believe that children should be hunted down and put to death for something they did not do. The point is that you can't say that something's a sin because the bible says it's a sin, since the bible refers to lots of things that aren't at all sinful as being sinful.

  • Rufus=amazing.

I love his face at 6:35.

    he's soooo cute!

    :)

  • god... if he wasn't gay...

  • Hahaha "I was born in the living room"

Got to be the best line ever xD

  • he seems like a proper nice guy

  • i love his music and he also looks very very handsome.

  • He doesn't like you either.

  • Tee hee, Rufus doesn't like that camera being in his face. Can't say I blame him. Gorgeous performance, as per.

  • in what way does rufus' voice sound manly?

  • great great lyrics,,, beautiful beautiful song.... and Marvelous performance!!!!

  • rufus is a total god

  • gowdon wamsay evewybody

  • I love how straight Brits can appreciate gay artists.

It's a chore to get straight American guys to admit liking them.

  • i COVET that jacket. COVET

  • rufus is a tit man?? whahahha

  • lol at 6:35 he was sooooooo cute

  • everything that rufus says is funny to me but i never understood a bit of whatever that guy was saying.,., so i didnt understand why rufus said "i was born in the livingroom"

  • lol, well living rooms are very public places as opposed to bedrooms or "closets". So he wasn't born "in the closet" (with no one realizing he is gay) but rather in the living room.

  • great voice brillant band

  • I was born in the living room..hahahhahah

  • wow is he really saying that about the U.S.? good for him

  • his singing and speaking voice is so different haha love both rufus and jonathan! thanks for this :)

  • when was this?, I mustve missed this one, I think Rufus is just amazing.

  • i want his shirt.

  • Could you change the "still" picture that represents this video? Maybe to a pic of Rufus at the piano? The one now isn't very clear.

  • I didn't even know you could do that so thanks for recommending it. Just changed it, cheers!

  • I saw him live and he's such a funny guy.And of course a brilliant musician

  • lol he is uber camp and beautiful! That performance was just bewitching
