Feels like this crash is unlikely in most cases. Very few times anyone manage to do a clean offset crash in that speed. I think... Looks like a very safe car overall. Renault tech behind the safety?
when my mate wrote off his VW Polo in an aquaplane situation the only injurys he recieved were from the airbag which knocked him out upon initial impact meaning he was unable to prevent the car crossing lanes and being struck a 2nd time by a skoda doing 50mph. the passenger who had his seat fully reclined (illegal for driver to do this) with the seatbelt not even touching him was unhurt and didnt even spill his beer. the only way to garuntee survival is a 6 point harness, roll cage, race seats
Eso es para evitar lesiones en la cabeza por golpes que se pueden producir luego del choque principal. Fijate en otros videos de choques como los de la euro ncap y vas a ver que en varias ocasiones la cabeza se golpea con el paral B.
If the airbag doesn't inflate at the appropriate moment of impact, your face actually hits the hub of the steering wheel, which means broken teeth, broken nose, broken cheek bones, etc. That's why it's so important for the timing of the airbag to be set properly and on some cars it's not.
@MrDudezProductionz He did not say nissan is the best, he said they make good cars, as compared to maybe tata and cherry, yes nissan does make extremely good cars, BUT how in the world can one accurately say one car manufacturer is better than the other? What newtonian analytical process did you use to factor in the million number of variables to come to a conclusion that Nissan, the company is BETTER than Toyota, but not as good as OTHERS. Please, ENLIGHTEN ME....
I've compared to most small cars test crash results. It seems that both Versa and 2008 Xb did reasonably ok. Especially the side impacts. However, I've love Xb but hate its cost and mpg. I likely go for Versa, cheaper and better mpg.
What worries me though is that the airbag deploys too early. Notice how the dummies head is bottoming out the airbag? Older Nissan Frontiers had this same problem.

@357CUI It's possible that their technology gets shared with Nissan. Renault is good with designing safe cars.

Curioso Nissan que acostumbra a desplegar los airbags laterales, aun en choque frontal o trasero...
saludos.

Well that airbag is pretty much useless if you're going to do a faceplant into the steeringwheel anyway. Bad design. Fix it Nissan!
palebeachbum 2 years ago
better touch the airbag than the glass of the vehicle !
even more if the glass was open or someting like dat

we were talking about LATERAL airbag fag!
3OnLyOnE 2 years ago
Listen 13yr old boy. You replied to my comment about the front airbag. Keep up. Call me a fag again and I'll show you what that term really means.
palebeachbum 2 years ago
shut the fuck up
i was talking about LATERAL airbag
and then what ???? hub ? windshield wheel ??
shiiite lateral !!!! no steering wheels on window
the acceleration sensor felt the car was moving sideways i think thats why lateral airbag openned up to avoid head injury due to the window
3OnLyOnE 2 years ago
I got the feeling that the side airbag propulse the head faster to the front airbag... But I might be wrong.

but why it's not included in the Euroncap site ?!!
Hamadasheble 2 years ago
The driver's airbag deployed just a bit late.
The IIHS gave the second highest rating of "acceptable" to the head.

Seems like Nissan stole the idea of the side airbags deploying on a front crash from Honda..
