the Karate was TERRIBLE he could have at least tried to at least keep some control... @costybarbu I am a ju jitsu fighter and i have been in many street scuffles, dont make assumptions that ALL ju jitsu people fight like they're drunk. I am only 5' 10" 135lbs (i know im a twig) but ive taken down people that were 5' 9" 210lbs, ju jitsu can actually be a very elegant form of defence when well-known and used correctly.

karate guy did it wrong, he let the other guy grab him... on fights like kung fu, karate etc you must kick the opponent in the balls before he grabs you... i take aikido or krav maga, my favorites
Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic style if you know how to fight on your feet as well. You don't want to start a fight in the street by taking it directly to the ground unless you can finish it immediately. Otherwise, don't be surprised when the guys buddy runs up from out of nowhere and kicks you in the head. The majority of fights end up on the ground so Jiu Jitsu is an amazing art, but I think it's most effective in conjunction with other styles.
it depends on the fighter not the style in a fight now karate is almost usles on the ground and i don't think it was allowed to use the elbows otherwise it could turn out diffrent but jiu jitsu is ground fhigting so it would be hard
jujitsu is only good for 1vs1 but then again karate or kung-fu can also be good at 1vs1 but if theres 2 enemy jujitsu will FAIL karate or kung-fu PASS

If you don't know when he's setting up his takedown, he's going to put you on your back before you can even think to throw the knee.

this karate guy just sucks... karate can be a very good martial art for many reasons but if you try to be rigid and traditional, your gonna suck. ik because along with other things, i train in shotokan karate and its gotta be a lot more fluent and quick. the rigidness and kiai-ing is only to train power and body mechanics. learn karate that's been adapted to today's standards and it'll be a really big asset to your martial arts training.

I've trainer karate for about 4 years and ofc there are different styles but in my style(can't remember the name) we in no way want to charge right at our enemy with no guard like ha does here. It's kind of stupid when you have no idea what kind of technique your opponent will use.
Well the Karate guy is at a disavantage as he will follow the rules of Karate in a Dojo and the other guy will follow the rules of his style outside is different aside from that many Karate guys have also trained in Judo and Jujitsu and they would have been far more prepared, Karate alawys had that weakness on the floor, i realised that when i went from Wado ryu to study Wing chun, totally different philosophy, in the end it always comes down to one man against another, style is your own to win.

A karateca kills his opponent with just one blow, but as they are in a ring is just a show, not real. Another thing about Jiu Jitsu, their own teachers say it is not effective in the street. Karate is a fairly limited style really suited to competitions against other karate practitioners. Personally I'm all for Muay Thai for the striking and Jiu Jitsu for the ground work. That said, the "Black Belt's" reactions were extremely slow. Like, to the point that I'm dubious as to his right to wear that belt.

This is the the result of the better fighter.
The fact is this "Jiu jitsu" guy is simply fast and has the advantage at closes range.
However I think if the "karate" guy kept his distance and have good timing then maybe he have a chance.
Anyways to be fair you should always have 3 rounds of sparring so then they can learn from each other and get used to fighting different style.

@HDGodStyle I've used takedowns on the street and have had people try to knee me. Same results every time, it's not effective against someone who knows what they're doing.

this karate guy just sucks... karate can be a very good martial art for many reasons but if you try to be rigid and traditional, your gonna suck. ik because along with other things, i train in shotokan karate and its gotta be a lot more fluent and quick. the rigidness and kiai-ing is only to train power and body mechanics. learn karate that's been adapted to today's standards and it'll be a really big asset to your martial arts training.

fighting jiujitsu fighters with rules is no fighting because the rules are on their side they have the advanteage,,,however, fighting them on the street is a diferent story you can take out anybody very easy, they get you to the ground and they re happy thinking your in their playground,,,break one of their fingers and see how the fuck they will try to choke you ;-) or fucking bite them every time they put a choke on you ahhaha jiujitsu is a joke like any other shit out there street is king !

There are actually several videos you can watch where the triangle is used in a street fight.

I've trainer karate for about 4 years and ofc there are different styles but in my style(can't remember the name) we in no way want to charge right at our enemy with no guard like ha does here. It's kind of stupid when you have no idea what kind of technique your opponent will use.

Well the Karate guy is at a disavantage as he will follow the rules of Karate in a Dojo and the other guy will follow the rules of his style outside is different aside from that many Karate guys have also trained in Judo and Jujitsu and they would have been far more prepared, Karate alawys had that weakness on the floor, i realised that when i went from Wado ryu to study Wing chun, totally different philosophy, in the end it always comes down to one man against another, style is your own to win.

@dailyasshole In the fights are a sports ring, what happens there is completely out of reality that should know. A karateca kills his opponent with just one blow, but as they are in a ring is just a show, not real. Another thing about Jiu Jitsu, their own teachers say it is not effective in the street. You should study and step traditional dojos before we talk about tv shows and competitions are only distortions of the true martial art. Greetings.

The person he said training in karate the same will happen to you has no ideal about fighting or the Arts. Im a karate guy(Martial Artist) this was not a fight they had rules. I ve train in many Arts to include Jiu jitsu always take what works and have an open mind to other systems you will be an better Martial Artist.

Karate is a fairly limited style really suited to competitions against other karate practitioners. Personally I'm all for Muay Thai for the striking and Jiu Jitsu for the ground work. That said, the "Black Belt's" reactions were extremely slow. Like, to the point that I'm dubious as to his right to wear that belt.

@kaguth maybe but he managed ti get a useless punch in, i would have kicked him away rather than punch... but in the heat of the moment... i think the karate guy needs more experience with other styles to understand more about defending against em.
