yeah. This is super applicable. As long as you have an attacker who throws a single slow punch and then sits there and let's you do whatever you want to him. So practicle.
Don't like the punch counter but VERY good set-up for the calf crush. Have used it many times and it's very effective. Opponent doesn't even know it's coming until he has to tap.
@FoneArc I Agree. My biggest qualm is that the Downward Punch is sufficient. And if it isnt, repeat. But instead, He grapples from there. Additionalls, the setup for the throw could be better. By which i mean its quite poor.
@homevideowatcher78 I guess you think everbody can fight like him Mike most people cannot even fight good and would get demolished by this guy there are over 2,000 moves in hapkido so this is just a small portion of what he knows.
@guitarnukka724 What I mean to say Hapkido has been around longer than BJJ. Hapkido is the Korean derivative of Aikijujitsu, along with Aikido. If it looks like bjj it was probably on purpose, but I think bjj looks like the jujitsu part of Aikijujitsu.
@groundpounder35 "No bjj came from jujitsu, not judo. but there is some judo practitioners in mma."

Mitsuyo Maeda was the original teacher of Carlos Gracie and his training prior to leaving Japan was at the Kodokan.

I'd have to say the guy is a dick! The boy has tapped out so holding him in an arm lock for longer than he can stand is nothing short of retarded. Nuff said

This doesn't look too realistic to me. That guy swings around far too easy and it is a lot more difficult in real life to spread a heavy guy's legs.
But actually, the worst part is 0:39. You try pulling the arms of a resisting person from his body and nearly straight, that's impossible, even if you're a lot stronger. And IF you could do it, why the flashy stuff instead of pinning him down with that arm under a knee?
It's not Hapkido....it's his own creation, which mixes Hapkido, TKD, and juijitsu. I trained there for almost a year, but had to stop due to a dislocated elbow. Great club, great people. Highly recommended if you happen to be living in Seoul.

In general Korean martial arts are neither original or practical. Just take a martial art that is already established, add a lot of flashy kicks, unrealistic motion and dramatics and poof, Korean martial art is created.
It's not bad to watch, Hapkido is Korean Aikido with the flare of TKD. The reason he isn't stopping the tech. when the guy taps is because they are not reallying applying the technique. I've seen a lot of Korean m.a. in my life and Hapkido is nothing different. A lot of flash mixed with another cultures martial art. (be angery if you want, only speaking my mind from my experience).
i dont think thia is a demo of real situations. just a demo of the different moves they practice, and how to flow from one move to the next. atleast that is what i hope it is.
@malsahth That's not a lock its actually a 'Calf Crush'(Sambo) or 'calf cutter/slicer'(MMA). Its very nasty!, Its not really a break although Im sure you could do the foot, it just inflicts alot of pain. I had this put on me in MMA sparring by a former British open Sambo champion and I managed to resist for about 10 seconds but after that it started to burn like fcuk so he got the tap!:0(. You can put this on from different positions too. A useful technique all round.
@finkabaht1 Yeah you're right my bad. Re-looking at it, it looks kinda weak from that position, especially when his holding the foot. Still, fairly sneaky, I wouldn't expect it.
Only ever tapped once to a calf crush, and that was sparring with a massive black guy who teaches bjj and various other stuff. At first I was all right, but his forearm was so wide that as he applied more pressure I could feel my knee start to stretch apart. Was not a pleasant experience...
The only reason it's so slow and they pause is so that the person it's being demonstrated on doesnt get hurt. They're only preparing for the fall. In real life it'd probably look alot more badass
I don't understand arts that practice using multiple strikes against an attackers punching arm - 00:55. Do they really feel this is plausible or realistic? I mean watch how long the "attacker" holds his position to allow for the demonstrator to perform his counter. It's ridiculous. No one is going to punch at you, and then stands there like a statue to give you time for your counter.
@merclessmurder True, it is at demonstration speed; however, he is still executing 3 techniques to his opponent's 1. Essentially, he is assuming that he will be 3 times faster than an attacker. In BJJ, we train for attackers that are bigger, faster, and stronger than us - not the other way around. It 's like having a pro basketball team play against middle-schoolers to get ready for the season. To train for opponents that are slower (weaker, etc.) defeats the purpose.
@Unitzero25 Right. My point is NOT directed towards training speed, it's directed towards training realistically. At 00:53, the demonstrator executes 6 techniques (3 blocks/strikes to the arm, 1 palm heel to the face, 1 inside leg kick, 1 sidekick) after his opponent throws 1 punch and then stands there like a statue. This is not realistic.
@websslinger Good catch. I believe this is a mistake by the teacher. Or perhaps just getting taped he threw in a little bit of "extra movement flair" for the camera. It is wasted movement. I've never seen that taught anywhere else. Nevertheless these takedown submission techniques are very realistic and effective in many situations. In fact many can be adapted into your ju jitsu quite effectively. I should know. I studied Hapkido before I began Ju Jitsu 15 yrs ago The techniques combine nicely
i love to be that guy the submitted boy looks cool Master does not seem to listen the taps the poor boy makes i love to be student of the master and love to be humiliated in that way
But it doesn't happens exactly like that in the street or when you have to be very fast. I think French Boxing shouldn't let "grandmaster Kang Jun" realised what happenED. ;-)
This is probably the first demo I really like. I sh now I could see some of these techniques used in the UFC. It would seem to me that the only thing that the UFC is good for is promoting BJJ, and the Gracie family business.
While he demonstrates some good techniques, a few of those moves are unrealistic because they require the attacker to stay stationary for too long. otherwise it was pretty good. except for the flip at 35 sec, totally fake!
@alxh89 The flip isnt really fake per se... he had to fake or his wrist would snap in half. In a real fight if he got were able to get a wrist lock on you in that way, its going to snap, theres no flipping, just falling down in pain
@ChronicJiujitsu actually... the flip is an unrealistic breakfall reaction used almost exclusively in demonstrations by trained martial artists. these types of self defense techniques are designed to be used against untrained fighters as the agressor often over extends his puch and makes other mistakes. a more realistic reaction is to fall forward (not flip forward) in the direction of the wrist lock.
@KoreAHNO anything taught today comes from some "traditional martial art". the traditional part only really refers to how its taught. techniques still work well. its the people doing them that suck, like you maybe. people do put too much emphasis nowadays on show and not really testing students for real skill but their weakness is not the techniques fault...an good fighter is a martial artist in some way. in order to be a good fighter you have to have some techniques, whether you made them up
billysue2, your comment about black belts and sparring makes no sense. because grades above black belt reinforce techniques used in black belt and below. AND sparring black belt vs black belt is WAY different from black belt vs guy on street. this is because black belts are better at defending than others, ESPECIALLY when there against their own martial art because they know the moves the other black belt will use.
i guarantee you nobody could do most of those moves on anyone anywhere.Grades above black belt are meaningless in all styles, nothing to do with fighting ability. There sparring videos show what can work, this is just for show.
HOLY CRAP!! man this dude is INSANE!! hahaha and you're right these moves are a bit flashy for practical use, but he looks to be using elements of aikido which is in theory one of the most practicle martial arts there is. You just gotta know what to do and like one guy said there must be 0 hesitation
aikido is 1 of the most practical martial arts?youre jokin right? You could practice for 20 years and still be absolutely useless in any sort of full contact situation.Any system without full contact all range sparring is in a world of shite unless they ko the lad pre emptively.AIKIDO ME HOLE.
@billysue2 not so true. i do agree that you need some contact to ever be able to practically use any martial art, but you dont have to practice full contact to take out some dude on the street, since that's most likely who you'll end up using it against if anybody. most martial arts are equally as practical when you have the right purpose in mind.
these are really cool but not practical. No one will puch like the attacker in this video. I didnt see any right jabs or left jabs. In the real world thats how the attacker is going to punch you.
in the real world most people throw haymakers. i agree no one punches lie this, but i think if you do the submissions without hesitation then they'll work. alot of people mess up because of hesitation.
@urfaceismessed the way they punch in the video isnt realistic but the techniques could still be used. people will probably throw more jabs but you can just parry those, not much technique neccesary. when someone gets anxious or whatever and puts more of their body into the punch though, you can take advantage of that with some technique.
This is bull crap.

In general Korean martial arts are neither original or practical. Just take a martial art that is already established, add a lot of flashy kicks, unrealistic motion and dramatics and poof, Korean martial art is created.
cagedraptor 1 year ago
It's not bad to watch, Hapkido is Korean Aikido with the flare of TKD. The reason he isn't stopping the tech. when the guy taps is because they are not reallying applying the technique. I've seen a lot of Korean m.a. in my life and Hapkido is nothing different. A lot of flash mixed with another cultures martial art. (be angery if you want, only speaking my mind from my experience).
cagedraptor 1 year ago
i dont think thia is a demo of real situations. just a demo of the different moves they practice, and how to flow from one move to the next. atleast that is what i hope it is.

no one's going to punch you when they wana fight you. They stick a knife at you and stab you instantly.

Forget the punches! What the hell is that crazy leglock at 0:15 ?!?
malsahth 1 year ago
@malsahth That's not a lock its actually a 'Calf Crush'(Sambo) or 'calf cutter/slicer'(MMA). Its very nasty!, Its not really a break although Im sure you could do the foot, it just inflicts alot of pain. I had this put on me in MMA sparring by a former British open Sambo champion and I managed to resist for about 10 seconds but after that it started to burn like fcuk so he got the tap!:0(. You can put this on from different positions too. A useful technique all round.
finkabaht1 1 year ago
@finkabaht1 Yeah you're right my bad. Re-looking at it, it looks kinda weak from that position, especially when his holding the foot. Still, fairly sneaky, I wouldn't expect it.
Only ever tapped once to a calf crush, and that was sparring with a massive black guy who teaches bjj and various other stuff. At first I was all right, but his forearm was so wide that as he applied more pressure I could feel my knee start to stretch apart. Was not a pleasant experience...

lol it looks student is punished by the master mercilessly but one of the awsome videoes on you tube really enjoyed watching it
pakislimboi 1 year ago
The only reason it's so slow and they pause is so that the person it's being demonstrated on doesnt get hurt. They're only preparing for the fall. In real life it'd probably look alot more badass

TheUkitake13 1 year ago
I don't understand arts that practice using multiple strikes against an attackers punching arm - 00:55. Do they really feel this is plausible or realistic? I mean watch how long the "attacker" holds his position to allow for the demonstrator to perform his counter. It's ridiculous. No one is going to punch at you, and then stands there like a statue to give you time for your counter.
websslinger 1 year ago
@websslinger well the thing is in real life he wud have done that MUCH faster and he does it slowly just as a demonstration
merclessmurder 1 year ago
@merclessmurder True, it is at demonstration speed; however, he is still executing 3 techniques to his opponent's 1. Essentially, he is assuming that he will be 3 times faster than an attacker. In BJJ, we train for attackers that are bigger, faster, and stronger than us - not the other way around. It 's like having a pro basketball team play against middle-schoolers to get ready for the season. To train for opponents that are slower (weaker, etc.) defeats the purpose.
websslinger 1 year ago
@websslinger but taking it too fast, you might be learning it wrong, no?
Unitzero25 1 year ago
@Unitzero25 Right. My point is NOT directed towards training speed, it's directed towards training realistically. At 00:53, the demonstrator executes 6 techniques (3 blocks/strikes to the arm, 1 palm heel to the face, 1 inside leg kick, 1 sidekick) after his opponent throws 1 punch and then stands there like a statue. This is not realistic.
websslinger 1 year ago
@websslinger Ah, okay. I agree with you, standing there after your punch didn't connect would be kinda dumb...
Unitzero25 1 year ago
@websslinger Good catch. I believe this is a mistake by the teacher. Or perhaps just getting taped he threw in a little bit of "extra movement flair" for the camera. It is wasted movement. I've never seen that taught anywhere else. Nevertheless these takedown submission techniques are very realistic and effective in many situations. In fact many can be adapted into your ju jitsu quite effectively. I should know. I studied Hapkido before I began Ju Jitsu 15 yrs ago The techniques combine nicely

if u noticed in other martial arts illegal moves are different types of martial arts, also at 1:00 is just amazing perfect against wrestlers
snowdude1080 1 year ago
Indeed really good technic. Music is nice also...
But it doesn't happens exactly like that in the street or when you have to be very fast. I think French Boxing shouldn't let "grandmaster Kang Jun" realised what happenED. ;-)
skameone 1 year ago
This is probably the first demo I really like. I sh now I could see some of these techniques used in the UFC. It would seem to me that the only thing that the UFC is good for is promoting BJJ, and the Gracie family business.
SECMusic 1 year ago
While he demonstrates some good techniques, a few of those moves are unrealistic because they require the attacker to stay stationary for too long. otherwise it was pretty good. except for the flip at 35 sec, totally fake!
alxh89 1 year ago
@alxh89 The flip isnt really fake per se... he had to fake or his wrist would snap in half. In a real fight if he got were able to get a wrist lock on you in that way, its going to snap, theres no flipping, just falling down in pain
ChronicJiujitsu 1 year ago
@ChronicJiujitsu actually... the flip is an unrealistic breakfall reaction used almost exclusively in demonstrations by trained martial artists. these types of self defense techniques are designed to be used against untrained fighters as the agressor often over extends his puch and makes other mistakes. a more realistic reaction is to fall forward (not flip forward) in the direction of the wrist lock.
alxh89 1 year ago
It's too bad no one would ever punch like that or hand their arm like that. It's sad to see such silliness take seriously.

@KoreAHNO (cont) or not.
bdjordan15 1 year ago
@KoreAHNO anything taught today comes from some "traditional martial art". the traditional part only really refers to how its taught. techniques still work well. its the people doing them that suck, like you maybe. people do put too much emphasis nowadays on show and not really testing students for real skill but their weakness is not the techniques fault...an good fighter is a martial artist in some way. in order to be a good fighter you have to have some techniques, whether you made them up

jackrockybond 1 year ago
they are so good at fighting
jackrockybond 1 year ago
billysue2, your comment about black belts and sparring makes no sense. because grades above black belt reinforce techniques used in black belt and below. AND sparring black belt vs black belt is WAY different from black belt vs guy on street. this is because black belts are better at defending than others, ESPECIALLY when there against their own martial art because they know the moves the other black belt will use.

HOLY CRAP!! man this dude is INSANE!! hahaha and you're right these moves are a bit flashy for practical use, but he looks to be using elements of aikido which is in theory one of the most practicle martial arts there is. You just gotta know what to do and like one guy said there must be 0 hesitation
MrPirate93 2 years ago
aikido is 1 of the most practical martial arts?youre jokin right? You could practice for 20 years and still be absolutely useless in any sort of full contact situation.Any system without full contact all range sparring is in a world of shite unless they ko the lad pre emptively.AIKIDO ME HOLE.
billysue2 2 years ago
@billysue2 not so true. i do agree that you need some contact to ever be able to practically use any martial art, but you dont have to practice full contact to take out some dude on the street, since that's most likely who you'll end up using it against if anybody. most martial arts are equally as practical when you have the right purpose in mind.

@billysue2 agreed

ASSBANG6969 2 years ago
these are really cool but not practical. No one will puch like the attacker in this video. I didnt see any right jabs or left jabs. In the real world thats how the attacker is going to punch you.
urfaceismessed 2 years ago
in the real world most people throw haymakers. i agree no one punches lie this, but i think if you do the submissions without hesitation then they'll work. alot of people mess up because of hesitation.
chris3813914 2 years ago
@urfaceismessed the way they punch in the video isnt realistic but the techniques could still be used. people will probably throw more jabs but you can just parry those, not much technique neccesary. when someone gets anxious or whatever and puts more of their body into the punch though, you can take advantage of that with some technique.
