  • it says its out of stack. is they making more and if so when?

  • i bought this for 700

  • @ciboalien an ipad costs $499

  • @KungFuChess iPAD is for what IPAD use purpose. It still not even close to lemur. TRUST ME. especially this DEXTER APP. Why waste $500? Just get proper music equipment in the first place.

  • @ciboalien check out TouCHable for ipad. might change ur mind

  • @KungFuChess I did and read many reviews ipad vs lemur, and I went to lemur

  • Comment removed

  • you can plug in the jazzmutant lemur in FL studio, right?

  • @zipproductionz yezzir.

  • they should have this for iPad

  • daftpunk and deadmau5 use a jazzmutant-lemure not a dexter idiots

  • @TheEriknator lemur no lemure idiot ;)

  • If only it was an app.

  • @SimplyDubstep23 now it is. touchOSC

  • :( i want onee! Daft Punk FOrever!

  • After noticing Daft Punk uses these, and how badass they are.I want one so I can make my own stuff like Daft Punk (they inspired me deeply) lol but its too damn expensive!

  • @GreenDayRulez54 same here bro

  • only daft punk deserves use those things

  • work it make it do makes harder better faster stronger

  • shut up and take my money!

  • thats toooooooooo sick

  • its only a matter of time before someone uses the ipad in the same way. that will be great

  • @jonny26281

Deadmau5 does it as I heard

  • @Schamutz he does i seen him live using the product

  • like daft punk and deadmau5!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nuckin' Futs!

  • improve gui

  • Spelled amazing wrong...

  • Nice ...

  • this seems so dangerous on live.

  • wha? oh sorry i wasn't paying attention, i was listening to the groovy repetitive dance music

  • would this work with ableton? looks like it was built for ableton,

  • @bbourke85 I'm pretty sure it does, Glitch mob uses it for production and I'm sure they use Ableton.

  • what cable?

  • @mau5head1 ethernet...you know...what you would use to connect to your internet.

  • daft punk used that for the 08 grammys

  • Not worth the price at all check out the new french device coming up

  • @donpoulos What is that called?

  • come on guys most of you dont need this because all of you arent dj. its profesional eq not for every normal guy.

  • What ever happened to the days of turntables :(

  • @BadgerGLS there are newer more demanding genres and sub genres that turn tables just cant live up to. it would be great though, I'm with you on that!

  • @BadgerGLS turntables are still around, i'm guessing this is for people with small or cluttered desks.

  • The Jazz mutant lemur is an overpriced and outdated piece of hardware / software. Sure, when it came out it was revolutionary.. not anymore.

Fools who purchased this thing are trying desperately to dump 'em on Ebay for $2k with no takers. For the money, i can buy two Ipads and do a LOT more than one Jazz mutant Lemur and run a lot more apps on them. It is a no brainer. Anyone arguing otherwise probably purchased one for a lot of bucks and is just angry because it aint worth shit no more LOL

  • Comment removed

  • LOL all you need is a touchscreen monitor and you can do this for a fraction of the price, with better resolution, use with any program on your system and have it widescreen etc This company is doomed and so is this product.

  • LOL my name's Dexter

  • Ok, a lof of most people making comments don't seem to understand what the Jazz Mutant hardware does or doesn't do.

1-It doesn't make music, it doesn't make any sounds, it won't make your music sound better, or it won't make you any more talented, no matter how expensive.

2-The jazz mutant hardware just controls synths and music software. it doesn't make any sounds of its own. It is basically a programmable interface. You can do anything it does with an IPAD + TouchOSC.

  • ah, btw deadmau5 SUCKS

  • LOL A lot of rich kids are trying to dump their worthless Lemurs on Ebay for $2000..

They are dreaming, of course.. all Jazz Mutant hardware is worthless now..

I wouldn't even pay $500 for a Lemur.. I would rather get an iPad + TouchOSC any day.

  • @hstanicus touchOSC ahahah nice

  • This is pro audio gear, so expect to pay a premium.

No games to load, facebook updates, tweets, finger painting, personal and financial info to steal, or exploring the solar system.

It's a pricey high tech controller for the pro audio market.

Stop comparing it to the iPad!!!

  • @tallgeese1 high tech controller for the pro audio ?????

You can obtain the same quality by the half of price or less. It is necessary to compare it with the Ipad, if this we occupy it as the controller midi, the quality of the audio does not depend on the Ipad.

  • I find this thing really useless because you actually have to pay a TON of money for the hardware. In our age, multitouch screens will keep getting better and better every year so spending 2000 dollars on a tablet that will get old in 2 years is stupid (hell, the iPad's multitouch is more responsive than this thing's multitouch).

I would rather prefer a big company dedicate a lot of resources making a really good iPad app that does everything that lemur does and selling it for 300 bucks thanthis

  • its great eyecandy... and thats about it

  • Technology has caught up to Jazzmutant, more and more touch controllers can do what Lemur and Dexter do but for a fraction of the cost (admittedly less flashy but still).

  • deadmau5 uses it also and a monome

  • honest, got a limited attention span. who really needs to SEE a dj? thx, i'm off

  • anyone know whats the name of the music???

  • anyone know whats the name of the music??

  • daft punk controller?

  • @aplayaz2000 yes

  • Isn't that what Daft Punk use?

  • @Lopee08 no the one daft punk uses is way more better plus daft punks version of this is custom :)

  • friction is set. you can reduce the friction on the objects so it directly follows your finger. most people prefer a little friction to prevent over sensitive movements during live performance

  • can sumone explain what MIDI stands for? or what it does in music? i would like to learn.

  • @cawlmerobert Musical Instrument Digital Interface

  • @cawlmerobert: Musical Instrument Digital Interface. Ask wikipedia!

  • @cawlmerobert midi.org

  • that is one annoying intro

  • i find it much more fun to play with all the buttons and slides than with a monitor

  • and you have to sit in the dark....all...the...time....

  • @MrBrandonPeoples hahahahaha

  • @MrBrandonPeoples fukin true ; D

  • can u use this to mix like live instead of using a dj and a mixer can u just use this to mix???please answer??

  • WOW If you Paid $1500 For a Dexter

    .

When you can pay $500 for an IPAD ( That can control ANY Program or VSTI with automap or touch OSC )

u could have 2 Ipads and an iphone for the same price

And They Play back Video , Record Video , Surf the web , Portable , Tilt Sensors

WOW they have to lower the Price ... or Jazzmutant will not survive as a company.

  • @ThaJSpraya your crazyy obviously you havent looked into the lemur it will do more than the ipad ever will!

  • @ThaJSpraya if you want to make great music the ipad wont help you nearly as much as the lemur will

  • @ThaJSpraya

"WOW they have to lower the Price ... or Jazzmutant will not survive as a company"

You obviously are not a musician, otherwise you would understand that $1500 is almost nothing compared to the price that some vintage synths go for, not to mention sound systems, software programs, hardware, etc.

  • @ThaJSpraya

If you can perform a gig with 4 iPads as opposed to 4 Lemurs, Daft Punk better retire.

  • @ThaJSpraya

i knew the ipod touch has wirless midi capabilities,, but i heard nothing about the i pad.... ,,, this is the truth?! i pad is good like that!? O.O

  • @Musiccalculater fuck yes!

  • @ThaJSpraya It's called being a serious musician.

  • @ThaJSpraya This isn't spotty for it communicates via OSC so there is no WIFI worries. It's built like a tank and you can hack it pretty damn easily. So, personally

    I'd get one

  • @ThaJSpraya i dont think u understand what this is and what a ipad is

  • @StanonCookie2 If it's just a controller then I can't see why the ipad couldn't do exactly the same thing when via bluetooth or wifi. Surely it's just a case of the Dexter being from 2 years ago that now it has been superseded by cheaper technology. The Ipad has a large enough screen and has multitouch.

2 years is a long time in technology these days.

  • @Snuffomatica its isnt a only a controller all the functions are in this thing, the midi is just a extra function to controller traktor or serato live, ipad cant do it cause it has not that technologic inside

  • @StanonCookie2 So you're saying it has ADC/DAC hardware inside it? It looks more likely the DAW would do the audio processing and this device provides the control interface.

  • @Snuffomatica ok if its worthless why the hell every famous dj use it, daft punk got even 4 of them and u dont know whaa a adc its u just google it right now so shut up dude and if a ipad can do it than buy a ipad and make a app to do it now have fun

  • @StanonCookie2 LOL who pulled on your bollocks? I'm not saying it's worthless at all. Just that consumer-level technologies have now caught up. Does this thing have audio processing capabilities or not? If it's just a controller then explain how another multi-touch device such as an iPad or that new Samsung device couldn't send exactly the same controller data to the DAW?

Some bands still use Alesis MMT-8s (look it up) for live MIDi. It's just about personal preference.

  • @Snuffomatica

    I pulled on his bollocks.

  • @ThaJSpraya WELL NOT TO OFFEND YOU BUT YOU ARE STUPID THE IPAD IS THE WORSE EQUIPMENT EVER YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH MUTANT AND IT MAYBE EXPENSIVE FOR LOW INCOME PEOPLE LIKE YOU BUT ACTUALLY IT'S NOT I OWN THE IPAD THE IPOD THE IPHONE NONE OF THOSE CAN DO WHAT MUTANT DOES OR ABLETON OR MIDORI SO NEXT TIME YOU CRITICIZE SOMETHING GET OUT OF IGNORANCE FIRST OR YOU WILL BE PUT DOWN AT ALL TIMES USE YOUR BRAIN NOT YOUR MOUTH!

  • @MASTERUDY

You are stupid. Lemur is a touch midi controller, he needs a laptop with something that to control, Ableton Live for example. When the Ipad is mentioned, is to occupy it as the touch midi controller. The sonorous quality does not depend on the midi controller.

I do not believe that the quality depend necessarily of as much as can pay, in that sense the prices of jazzMutant are excessive and meaningless.

  • @ThaJSpraya this is not for random having fun, its for professionals that interfaces with other audio equipment.

  • @seberusnet like daft punk

  • @snmwheeler yeah daft punk uses this

  • @snmwheeler Daft punk use thinks like this..

  • @snmwheeler and DeadMau5!!!

  • @seberusnet I agree

  • @seberusnet No random fun, what's the point then if you cannot have fun?

  • @seberusnet

If you have enough money, it is for random having fun.

  • @seberusnet

It's still for habing fun though.

  • @ThaJSpraya yeah, but who wants two ipads?

  • Shut Up all you guys who saying that iPad is better just because there some shit app like TouchOSC, most of you dont know what there talking like Snuffomatica just because theres one app that can do 2% of this you think there will be another app to which can do thing like the lemur. WHY is there ni APP?? Because it wont work and all of you guys arent dj or music producer, most of you are amateurs if you wwant to prove that iPad is better make an APP and dont talk shit

  • @ThaJSpraya They have no usb... for starters

  • @ThaJSpraya Comparing this device to an iPad with Touch OSC and saying OSC is the better option for a pro? That's like saying a professional photographer should take pictures on an iPhone or the new iPod Touch and just buy a $4 app to edit, crop, and process the pictures with.

  • @ThaJSpraya you would of needed a time machine dickhead

  • @ThaJSpraya Shh...i don't supoort this product neither do i own one for the time being but...if you don't know what is going on...just shhh...

  • @ThaJSpraya i agree with you in a way, but what you are saying now about this was said some years ago about mac vs pc.

ironically , in this case, lemur is like the mac, and ipad is like the pc: it may get the job done but its not the same thing at all. sure lemur will have to shorten the prices, like apple did when they went intel. they should do something similar IF that is their goal. but we cannot really compare a lemur to an ipad, now can we?

thats just my way of seeing it :)

  • BRILLIANT!

  • kind of looks like mtv music generator only

    at ur fingertips

  • it sends osc messages not midi

  • With a bit of middlework it can send midi as well.

  • wait so you could completely do all that with a mouse?

  • This stuff i guess so, but the pad has a lot more stuff ^^"

  • actually there's already apps for the ipod touch that work just like this. with a bigger screen, and faster processing, the apps SHOULD be able to compete

  • now how much does something like this cost?

  • thts sweet

  • i totally do not understand this at all. someone explain?

  • it's pretty much a midi controller. think like a midi kaoss pad

  • this is quite a bit more then a kaoss pad dood

  • See? How many devices can actually say they suck ass?

That shows true entrepreneurial spirit. Plus, It also means that future Pad apps will suck just about anything you point them at. Forget tasers....

  • They should do a review on the Lemur

  • I love touch screens, who doesn't. I'll never own a phone that isn't based on this platform. This is most definitely the way of the future, i believe that all laptops will soon feature touch screens that will fold all the way back to the horizontal plane. This being said, currently the Novation control surfaces paired with their Automap software still trump this new wave of touch screen midi controllers for cost effectiveness and ease of use.

  • watch more full dexter episodes free on

    video.takeitfree . info

  • As said....

    hello ipad!

  • HAHAHAHA! Good bye JazzMutant, HELLO iPad! Might as well file for bankruptcy.

  • It does look like it would be cool and fun to use and show off on live gigs etc, but then again it isnt providing anything new. It is a fuckin toy, not a real tool. Price makes them look like thieves.

  • @j03tv yeh and the reliability of touchscreens tends to be poor

  • you really don't know what you are talking about. This is one the most advanced touch screens available. It can track 20 points at the same time and do that very accurately. This review is only showing the tip of the iceberg. You can program midi connects how you want, where you want and to which audio program.

  • all i know is that knobs and buttons can be replaced and i'd much rather be twiddling knobs and pressing buttons you can see the guy in the video has trouble at some points and split second shit can fuck you up when ur doing live shit.

u telling me you'd buy one of these then? even if it was cheaper?

  • I have Ableton Live 8 Suite and looking to get Max for Live which will allow me to make any and all new intruments I can think up. One of the benefits of Lemur is you can decide how you want to control your set. I can tell you this video's setup is lacking you need to check out King Roc Live Setup 1 and 2 vids. If Daft Punk and Justice ONLY use Ableton and Lemur for their sets, why would some the biggest names in the game use a inferior product? I'll buy one when my APC40 gets boring. :)

  • fair im looking to get an APC. its just s trust issue i have i guess i'd have to have fun with it first. i doubt its gunna fuck up at that price either. r those videos on youtube? do you mix?

  • yeah just type King Roc Lemur Live Setup 1 or 2 in search for youtube, way cool.

I've been listening and going to shows for about 15 years, I figured it's about time to get my hands in it. I've got great ideas just have to get them out of the speakers. :)

Right now I have Ableton 8 suite, apc40, creative titanium fatil1ty pro, M-audio Keystudio. I'd like to mix with Serato since it can now be "Bridged" with Ableton at the same time. Then if I quit drinking I'd get a Lemur.

  • yeh safe.

mixing with vinyl has its limits which is why i want a 4 channel mixer with midi capabilities for ableton then map it up. behringer have a nice model the ddm 4000 and its cheap. but i'd much rather do it using an apc or similar device and have possibility of 5 different sources. with the Lemur if i was doing my own live instrument set not a dj set then i'd want/need it but otherwise im cool with my FX pedal lol i also need a software overhaul are the extras in the suite worth it?

  • To each their own...The IPad will certainly compete with this...considering what the hip little apps like Aura, Noise, the drum players, mixers, etc. have already shown on the Ipod/Phone. (And the Ipod apps like Noise will let you place all your fingers on at once) Can't blame guys for loving the look of this...it's all those nighttime Miami South Beach colors.....but the look will be on the Ipad, and then of course, it will also appear on a refrigerator or new home control box..Booga.

  • fair enough point well made. but think about inputs outputs etc, and the fact that it wouldnt be made specifically for this shows that care in the necessary areas may not be taken. i can see the ipad being used onstage but i doubt it would match this product or the lemur and no one who currently uses this is going to get an ipad over it. valid point though

  • it won't. the osx on the ipad doesn't even touch this.

  • yeha its better

  • Its like having a number of physical controllers/tools all in one small compact device. If your limited in space I could see how this could help. Other than that, its not even worth it. Also you dont get that experience from actually using physical knobs, sliders and buttons, keys.

Seems more of a eye-candy/show piece of gear. And for the price of this thing, its just not worth it. It's basically just a touch screen monitor with its own software.

  • @j03tv: "It's basically just a touch screen monitor with its own software." You don't develop software do you?

  • Watch Dexter Divx/Flash

  • i want to be a dj

    !!

  • @beckeraxl then be a dj

  • so awesome, i know what i want for my birthday.... 1800pounds so i can buy that fucker cause nobody's gonna buy me a gift that expensive DAMN IT WHY COULDN'T I BE RICH

  • lol if you and i were rich .. we wouldnt be into this as much as we are now (thats looking on the bright side of things lol)

  • you might be right about that

  • will it work with protools??

  • no ableton live???

  • whats better? Lemur? or the Dexter?

  • I guess it depends on what you're using it for. The dexter seems to be more of a DAW interface rather than an all out audio/visual design tool. I'm still learning though.

  • Lemur is waaay better

  • they are different tools...

  • lemmur ..and is more expencive like 400 usd more

  • Lemur, it builds on the Dexter. In other words, you can do more on the LEMUR than you can on the DEXTER.

  • the lemur

  • pretty sure Dexter is an app for the Lemur

  • looks like there are still lots of bugs need to be fixed

  • Actually, this isn't what Daft Punk uses. Daft Punk uses JazzMutant LEMUR.

  • yes they do use Lemurs actually thank you my friend for knowing about it and not assuming like other asses :) i bow to you

    ...:::...

  • could someone please tell me what's the point in this?

  • The pont is you dont have to Carry round Synt's Samplers and Sequncers Just this.

  • why does this prevent one from using synths? it hasn''t got any sequencers and samplers?

  • this is all very fancy and everything, but i dont see what was wrong with just using knobs and sliders and actual buttons.

i thought neccessity was the mother of invention. this doesnt seem very necessary. just expensive.

  • The possibilites are endless with how many different effects and "pages" of options you can load on this thing. Doing that with with a physical interface would require lots of equipment and would take up a lot of space.

  • Yeah, they use jazzmutant

  • lads hold off shelling out the money on these, within the next year your going to see laptops with touchscreens and apple are rumoured to be first on the list with this and have logic integrated in to use with the touchscreen, making the jazzmutant a thing of the past as they could never compete with apple in the future! they are still cool though - for the time being!

  • why isnt it meant for ableton live??

  • i'll stick to real knobs and sliders thank you

  • Gimmick

  • If it didn't work properly you could just look at it!
