  • thin lizzy was a like a supernova, burning brightest in its last days, there hasnt been a rocker like phil since and i doubt there will ever be

  • Phil Lynott, not only a great singer/ songwriter / poet... But also a genius bassplayer...

  • Where can you get this track?

  • Wow, I´ve never heard him sing like this before! I Like it!

  • I was going to make a comment, but everyone who has before me has echoed my sentiments exactly. Thanks so much for posting these. Phil and the guys contine to be of great inspiration to me, and the music lives on forever, thanks to fans such as yourself who make the time and effort to find these treasures and share them with us.

  • I really love this song. It's got a special feel to it. Magical.

  • this is awesome,nice 1 guys 4 da post,

  • 4 people fell into the fire

  • theres a killer on the highway, and i think i'm insane!

it's insane this song was never released. At least the record companies got what they deserved.

  • Hey thanks for giving me a chance to hear this stuff

  • Just a delight to find a "new" Thin Lizzy song. I never rush into music. I try to let each song by a band sink down. Some become favorites and others I listen to mostly because of variation. With a band like Thin Lizzy there are too many favorites dough to really pick a top 10 or 20 list. I would just leave to many out that I also think should get the recognition!

  • Bad Ass; yet another Great Lynott song that can set your emotions into thought.

  • love the two versions

  • thanks you for the post, is incredible this song!!!

  • der coolste song den ich je von phil gehört habe

  • best band ever

  • Thanks- an awesome song and one obviously written by a bassist. I love the bass line here. Lynott was so freakin' talented, and it's a terrible shame to lose him.

  • is this tuned down? I try to figure the chords out i don't know it just don't sound correct

  • Probably tuned down a half step, but nothing more. I've played the riff before on my guitar, it's just power chords really.

  • yeah Ryan you´re right, it´s a half step down ,... played this song for a new video of mine . will up soon some vids of me playing to the rare ones of lynott / lizzy !

  • I'll be looking forward to them...and be sure to link them up to my vids, because I bet a lot of people would be interested in hearing them.

  • I would!!!

  • @blacksabfan der beste song den ich bis aber nicht kannte cool

  • @blacksabfan most lizzy songs are half a step down

  • @THINLIZZYFANno1

That's true. When I play, my guitar is just normally tuned a half-step down to begin with, so I don't even think twice about it. Others might not realize it though, especially when trying to learn a rare song like this without the aid of nothing but one's ears.

  • @blacksabfan I would love to have this song man. nothing would feel better t me than cruising in my 72 mustang and blasting beautiful music. is there anyway possible i can get this song?

  • Comment removed

  • you can find all this stuff on the 8(?) cd collection called "The Man and his music" all b-sides, unreleased stuff and radio tracks, great collection if you can find it

  • you're a hero blacksabfan, for helping to keep the legend alive. This song reminds me of "renegade" from the Renegade album

  • Thanks for all those videos blacksabfan. A lot of thanks

  • holy shit....

  • This should have have got onto the album, despite its length it's a lot better than some of the songs on the album.

This is fucking amazing, thank you Sabfan!

  • Great to hear this song on youtube. I have it on an 20 year old cassette that phil gave to the manager of the swedish thin lizzy fan club.

  • One of the most amazing solos I`ve ever heard....

    >>> Another KICK ASS SONG by Phil....

    PHIL LYNOTT FOREVER ------->>>

  • great track,i wonder...how often was phil singing about himself and his troubled lifestyle. All this tracks are great...would love to have them all on a cd collection.

p.s first lyrics that you'r missing are'god like, god like',couldnt make out the one near the end.

  • I'm still not 100% sure if that's correct, but it's probably the best suggestion that I've had, and one that actual fits the song, so I added it.

  • @blacksabfan hey where did you get the rare lizzy tracks, youve some really excellent lizzy vids.greatest irish rock band ever, did u see the classic line up live.they never get recognition they deserve

  • Love it. Should have been on the album, great production as well, everything is nicely balanced.

  • Phil was the best,RIP never forget !!!!

  • awe some bass in the beginning !

Phil did slip away from us at a very young age.

    god bless !

  • man what a song. all these songs sould be put on a special edition abum. all the great songs that never got heard but should have! this is just awesome!!!

  • best thin lizzy song ever this is from the the man and his music album

  • T H A N K Y O U !!

  • how could this song not have made it on the thunder and lightning album? Its a great album but I think this would have been the best song on the album....

  • I read somewhere that "The Boys are Back" almost didn't make it onto Jailbreak. The managers didn't like it, but some girlfriend/wife really liked it and the rest is history. (maybe the details are off a bit)

  • tthat bass is soo defined it sounds sooo fuckin wicked man

  • many thanks to you blackabfan - it wonderfull to be able to listen to all these rare recordings. Gives me another insight to the talents of this great band and my music hero Lynott. His lyrics are often sad and I think that he often sings of himself.

  • proof that there is yet another demension th the thin lizzy legacy !

    u think u have heard all lizzy's stuff , then u find a gem like this !

    thanks 4 postin it !

  • puta som do kraleo... great fucking song!

  • Hey blacksab fan. I know i've said thank you but i can't say it enough times. Thanks man. It means alot. but thinking that there's never gonna be another song written by phil quite frankly saddens me. Thanks for softening the blow

  • the best number "Don't let him slip away"fromThin Lizzy.Lizzy fan

  • It's a shame vertigo didn't produce this and issue it as a b-side on a 12 inch at the time of T&L. I think a lost song "Tears of a Madman" dates from 82 but it's rare as gold dust.

  • Yeah, I know of the title...but that's about it. Didn't even know it was from the same period. Probably something else 99.999% of Lizzy fans will never hear. Damn shame, but nothing I'll lose sleep over. Occasionally a few of the guys that have some of these ultra-rare tracks goad me saying I'll never hear them, and if I'm not going to hear them, then it's a fat chance any significant majority ever will either. As far as getting some of these rarer tracks available, I've done my part.

  • Thanks for the stuff you have put out. I especially like the demo stuff for solo lp 3. I guess it would heve been half Grand Slam stuff, half songs like "Freedom Comes", "Catholic Charm", "Partner in Crime". Phil hinted in his last tv interview that Gary Moore would guest, maybe on "Sisters of Mercy". Thanks also for "Silas Rat" single.

  • It's no problem at all. Thanks for listening and watching.

  • wow this song is awesome man, thank u for sharing ur discoveries via youtube

  • The guys who goad aint real Lizzy fans. If they were, they'd share their rare tracks.

A great track, shame it never made official release

  • true. What kind of mean spirited dickheads would do that

  • You should have seen it

how [the drugs] tore him down...

There was nothing left, just an empty shell..

    he is gone now, alas...

RIP Phil Lynott, long live Thin Lizzy!

  • sorry holy war

  • hilda the nederlands this song is the best.his other songs or great. holly war, ilove it

  • The record company should do remasters of all the albums with the extra tracks that didn't make it on as bonus tracks.

    Judas Priest did that.

  • amazing indeed

  • how did he manage to find these vocals over this bass riff??? trully amazing!!!

  • i heard he went to mordor and forged his bass out of the lava on mount doom. thats just what i heard tho

  • hey that are some cool natural harmonics in the intro from his bass

  • blacksabfan you are a genius

  • All I did was post it. Lynott is the true genius.

  • I know you don't really know, but I would like to ask you for your opinion. I have heard that the entire Thunder and Lightning album bar 'Cold Sweat' was written before Sykes joined the band. I thought about this, and then I thought about 'The Holy War'... That seems to be John Sykes influenced, and I never would have imagined Gorham writing guitar like that, (I know Sykes wrote the solo), so, what do you think?

  • Yeah, I see where you're coming from. A lot of those songs are riff heavy...not just "Holy War", but "Heart Attack", "T&L" and "This is the One" as well. The only one, among the uptempo numbers that sounds like a Gorham-built song is "Bad Habits". That said, since they all have the same sort of characteristics, I think Gorham probably did write those riffs, because Phil probably wanted heavier riffs.

  • Plus, it was Sykes who said they had all the songs written already...if Gorham said it, then maybe I wouldn't believe it.

    Could be totally wrong though...

  • great song.

  • You can definitely hear the Holy war progression in it. It's good.

  • Mother Mary, was there nuthin' you could do?

  • 'She Knows' is an awesome song.

  • Lyrics added to the info section. Much like what was on 81unnaed81abc's post of this song, although his were taken off a website that had inaccurate lyrics. I listened to the song and got 95% of it. The other stuff I'm not sure about has ?'s by it, mostly toward the end.

  • MEGA rock MEGA band

  • This almost sounds like a continuation of "It's Getting Dangerous", which was sort of a sleeper hit off of Renegade. This would have been a great closer for the Thunder & Lightning album.

  • I agree 100%.

  • Thx emile

  • Miss philo,ledgend

  • keep the lizzy tunes comin son ...

    kool job...

  • Fucking love thin lizzy, fucking love the song, this is sheer undeniable proof that the fabricated music produced today is utter bull shit, there is no 'real' talent or bands we'd regard as accomplished musicians. Thank the lord for thin lizzy

  • Wow what a great number this is.Phil was just the best.

  • ROCK LEGEND ROSE DUBH post a mp3 verson this is song of heart

  • ROCK LEGEND ROSE DUBH post a mp3 verson this is song of heart

  • thanks for this man. i've been looking for this for ages. dont suppose you have an mp3 you could mail me?

  • What can i say the man was a genius proud to be a fan of thin lizzy no group could play live like phils lizzy gorham robertson downey and this song brought a tear to my eye thank you blacksabfan

  • he is rock legend

  • Blacksabfan i'd jst lik 2 say fair fucks for postin lizzy's lesser known songs, im a huge fan of phil's nd da boys work nd i hve most of der rare songs 2 like this 1 wich is my fav lizzy tune by da way, nyway keep up da work nd keep flyin lizzy's flag nd keepin phil's name alive, dnt no bout u but i tink dey are 1 of da most under rated bands, oh how people are missin out, rip Phil!!!

  • Many thanks for this. Its a great track blacksabfan! I love this song. How did you get all this rare stuff about Phil and Lizzy?

  • I found a lot of it, and a couple friends of mine pointed me in the direction of some more obscure places to find some other stuff. All but 4 songs I've posted can be found somewhere on the internet...and now those obviously can be found too.

  • Hi friend love the song do you know when it was recorded, who were the guitarists. Thanks big Lizzy fan.

  • Every source I've seen says this song was recorded in September 1982. I don't have an exact date though. The one guitarist is obviously Sykes (you can tell by the pinch harmonics in the later part of the song) and I would assume Scott Gorham is the other.

  • Thanks for that information blacksabfan.Would be intersting as to what gems would and should have been produced in the last twenty three years since his death. True genius never dies.R.I.P BIG MAN.

  • ONE OF MY FAVORITE PHIL SONGS EVER

  • SAME HERE

  • I've got to figure out how to do the file sharing just to get this song...

  • Where did you manage to find the album demos? I've got a few bootlegs and a couple of books, but I've never even heard of this and I don't have any demo boots. D:

Thanks again, this was a great song.

  • This track can be found on a compilation bootleg known as Philip: "The Man and His Music". Officially it's a 7 CD set of rare tracks, demos and live cuts. There's also at least one more unofficial CD to go along with that set (titled Vol. 8), and possibly a Vol. 9 and 10 as well. They commonly circulate on the filesharing program Soulseek, and certain discs have also appeared on various torrent sites. A google search for the title of the compilation should help you find what you are looking for.

  • Wow! Thanks very much!

I'm downloading it as I speak.

Thanks again for your help, friend. I hope you don't mind me pestering you...

I just want to increase my Lizzy collection and my Phil Lynott experience by any means possible... :)

  • No problem at all. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

  • This song is really good.
