We tried a larger tail rotor but that was in danger if hitting the main rotor. We are in the process of using wider tail blades and fitting a stabiliser system. We think that should do it

Maybe if you make a larger tail rotor rotor you can have a little bit more control? That is a lovely Model Reminds me of the Lego helicopter I made, but I used a gas powered engine and not electric Over heated inside the model and melted the logos mid flight not a fun time.

Hey guys - calm down. It is a model as we said - there are some more details of how we built it in Len Mount's Autobiography 'A bit of a Challenge' and it's also on his website at lenmountscalehelicopters.co.uk­­. The tail rotor is hidden behind the tail fin - only a small part protudes and it's been a real pain, hence it's not that controllable. The quality of the video means you don't see it. It would be harder to fake this than do what we've done

Thanks for the comments. The body is made out if fibreglass - made from a wooden plug we built from a scaled up version of the original. Mechanics are Align 500. Currently building a RC 'Lego' truck to carry it. Watch this space:)

@SmokyFrosty im sure most people know it is a shell. even so, creating a light enough shell so that it will lift off can be quite hard considering legos weigh considerably more than the usual plastic used on rc choppers.

The first alteration would be for the motor to be where an actual motor is in the helicopter. The second alteration would be for a tail rotor, that is, if there isn't one that's already on there. The reason that I'm wanting the second alteration is that, in addition to being more realistic in terms of flight, it also provides more of a coolness factor and it also makes flying the helicopter far easier while also adding an increased degree of mobility for the helicopter, too.

his is a message to the person that said that The LEGO Group should make things like this. They've actually made a lot of LEGO sets that had motors and electronics in them since the 1980s, namely in the themes of Technic, Space, and the City themes. With that being said, I could also see this being sold as an actual LEGO set. I've always wanted a LEGO City police or fire set having one of these types of helicopters in them. However, I would recommmend two alterations to the design.
