Who Cares if she is 72 years of AGE. She is not cooperating with the officer. Why should it be different because she is old..If she is old enough to be an Ass-hole then she is old enough to be tased!
@ACLTony SHE SAID ALL OF THIS IS A LIE LOL that biitch was lieing right there. I SAW THE REAL VID MAN old lady cussed the cop out. Threw the ticket in his face. Then when the cop tells her to put her hands behind her back shes like give me the FUCKING TICKET I'LL SIGN IT
If that old granny had a pacemaker she should have thought twice about acting like a bitch and just sign the ticket and go home.. She got what she wanted..
@cctv4texas you're a disgusting, ignorant human being. the elderly don't "think twice" you moron, they're easily confused and irritable. you people will bend over backwards to take it in the ass from some incompetent, violent pig. I hope it happens to your grandmother, and somebody as ignorant as you says "she got what she wanted", you piece of garbage.
She actually got what she deserved. Being old does not give you the right to act an ass and break the law. Should have tasered her ass twice for good measure.
@catheymatt So what should the officer have done? She he have said oh you're 72 years old. Okay well go ahead and break the law have a wonderful day? If you don't think he should have used the taser, then give us your alternative solution. If you think someone who is 72 years old can't hurt a cop, then watch officer Randy Vetter's dashcam! Age, gender is all irrelevant when someone becomes violent and angry.
so if a baby wouldn't stop crying would an officer of your likeness tase it? When both of you "officers: get off of duty, come to my house so I can knock some since into your heads. Seriously, a grandmother?
It's not his fault that the law states that if they don't sign they are under arrest. He reacted and pushed her back because he felt squeezed up against the road, close to the traffic...not smooth, not nice, but not totally malicious. She was given all kinds of warning. If you're under arrest, you don't get to just get in your vehicle and leave because you want to. If he had taken her by force any other way, she'd still be complaining, and if she got hurt he'd be in the wrong and fired.
ge that nice how the the news prejuges the the officer till it see all the foot age watch the whole footage it on u-tube cop pulls you over cop give you a ticket take ticket if you feel your not guilty fight in court. 12 y old grandma or 20 year black kid or me if i or them acted that way when you had the chance to sign a promise to appear you got what you deserved
If that was in the UK, New Zealand, or Denmark etc., the police probably would not have even bothered stopping the car. If they did, they would certainly have not yelled or being so damn cheeky and intimidating. They might have let her off with a kindly admonishment at most. The US police are completely dangerous... and the pompous scum that constitute the population only take pride in watching this.
The victim of course paid the heavy price for challenging that scumbag, what with the inordinate power that the American police have. Nowhere else other than in the USA would this occur. That frail elderly victim shows more bravery and resilience than most of these younger wimps who have the downright cheek to scorn her. The police should have complied with HER, not the other way around.
@Quakership89 OH! So she breaks the law, and the police should comply with her? On what grounds? If you watch the full video, he is giving her a ticket to sign. He was being polite, all she had to do was sign it. She wanted to become hostile toward the officer so, she was tased.
@usp401 So in your mind that gives him the right to TASER a senior citizen, subjecting her heart to over 40,000 volts of electricity. What if she had a pacemaker? What if he caused a heart attack, or what if she died from panic? There is something called discretion, we in America expect that from our officers, and you sound like an inconsiderate asshole. he's a GROWN MAN for god's sake, she's an old lady, he can find another way to apprehend her. your grandmother should be ashamed of you.
This is not a tough one. This Officer had no way of knowing if this little old woman had a pacemaker. The Officer threatened her life and should be put in prison for the rest of his life. The cops are out of control in this country. This is not America!
Shes so sweet and innocent and such a loving granny now. Awwww... how could anyone be so horrible to such a little angel. She's lying through her tooth. Typical of these old redneck cows. What a blessing that the law did what they were supposed to.
Another note, the officer is obese and doesn't represent his department well with his appearance. If he was in shape though, then comments would still fault him and people would just say, "well, he's young and in shape. Why couldn't he handle her," Police aren't looking to fight the public. The reason why police have pepper spray, batons, taser etc. is making arrest isn't about a fair fight. It's about getting it done as fast and as safe as possible. She's obviously uninjured from this.
I think this could have been handled differently but if you watch the update to the video and if you undertand how tasers work, you can form a better opinion. He probably didn't want to wrestle the woman to the ground because he didn't want to risk injuring her or end up with both of them getting hit by oncoming traffic. He still could have handled it a little better in the begining but it's a lesson learned. Both came out uninjured and that's the main goal in an arrest.
The electrical waves produced in the taser mimic the part of the central nervous system's electrical impulse that regulate skeletal muscle only. That's why people drop when properly tased, they lose control of voluntary motor skills in the electrical spread. It does not affect cardiac or digestive muscles. Yes it's 50,000 volts but it's not volts that kill, its amperage or amps. I believe it only takes 2 amps to kill a human which is equal to a household outlet. Taser is less than 1 amp.
@LittleJ2008, i have to disagree with you. First of all have u heard the new guidlines that Taser Inter. Suggest? They have 2 new Guidlines for law enforcement. 1) To try to not taser the individual in the chest. 2) To try to not taser a person multiple times. So, let me ask u this. Why would they even bother doing that? If the taser CANT kill it makes no sense to have those 2 new guidlines. The reason they have them ill continue.
@zk92000 I didn't say the Taser can't kill. All less than lethal weapons can become lethal. The main thing to consider is where the person is when tasering. Don't the subject to fall in an unsafe area. For the second quideline, when I went through the training before this came out, we were told not to tase multiple times and to place handcuffs on the subject asap.
@LittleJ2008 (cont). The reason they have those new guidlines. (AND U CAN LOOK THIS UP). Taser Inter. Said to "lower lawsuits" against Taser Intl! Most of the lawsuits where people died after being tasered were tasered multiple times, & also in the chest area. You can say whatever you want, but at this point there are so many examples of people dying soon after being tasered that its a mute point to argue. People of all ages & backgrounds.
@zk92000 I don't have to look it up, i recieve the training bulletins. Taser did state in the event someone may have cardiac arrest, not aiming for the chest helps to mitigate excessive force rulings in court. The other reason stated to aim lower and this was in the training before the changes, to prevent risk of the probes punturing the throat or eyes. The most preffered target area has always been the back since it is large and most clothing is spread tight across the back.
this old bag relied on her sense of entitlement based on her skin color and the fact that she is a geezer.... Minorities who resist arrest catch a bullet and dont get paid 40K for it... only in amerikkka
That's the problem here. This old bitch thinks because she is an elderly women she can do what ever she wants. Taser the old bitch again just for fun.
This old lady is crook....Now she filed suite and got her money...she is a wicked old lady who tried to use her age as a way of getting what she wanted...."money"
damn skippy- if this was a 20 year old black man resisting arrest he would have caught a cops bullet - not rewarded with 40K... 2 amerikkkas..
This old bat thought "hey Im an old white bitch.. I can get away with breaking the law" - which is why she DARED the cop to do something about it.. ** douchebag.
I agree if it were a 20yr old black man, nobody would comment "oh the poor young black man" but there would be cries of racial profiling and police brutality. It's all point of view, perspective, and opinion. Check out the update to this with the dash cam footage. She does become violent, argumentative and risked putting her and the officer into oncoming traffic. The officer gave clear verbal commands and warnings several times. She was dishonest in her interview.
I can give u soo many examples its not even funny. Here is one: Baron Pikes was a healthy 21year-old man. police records showed Nugent administered 9 Taser shocks to Pikes over a 14-minute period. An autopsy determined there were NO drugs in Pikes' system & that he did not have asthma, according to Dr. Randolph Williams, the Winn Parish coroner. On the death certificate, he listed the cause of death as "cardiac arrest" following 9, 50k volt taser applications Look it up. Thats just 1 EXAMPLE.
@zk92000 Well, I looked up couple articles. In 400 deaths where taser was used in an arrest 30 were medically determined to be direct result of the taser's use. Keep in mind Tasers have been in use for years and I think the number of use in arrests is well beyond 10,000. It's become popular with police because subjects fight through the pain of pepper spray or getting hit with a baton but Tasers cause the muscles to "lock up" so they can't fight through even if they want to.
@zk92000 I will admit police agencies need stricter guidelines on implementing taser in use of force doctrines and incidents where people were tasered 50 times or with multiple tasers shows a serious lack of good judgement on the officer's behalf. I've been tased myself and it was second in the worst pain i've felt next to pepper spray but the worst part is realizing you can't move so you just have to take it. The good thing is once it's over the pain goes away in minutes. Pepper spray? Hours
@LittleJ2008, i understand what ur saying. My Biggest problem is the use of tasers that is completely opposite to the original intent. The original purpose of the taser was to provide an alternate non leathal weapon then a gun. But that it was to be used ONLY in the event that all other options were exhausted. Seems like most of the videos u see on youtube & see in the news are examples where this was NOT the case. Example,The death of a 56-year-old wheelchair-bound disabled woman in FL.
@LittleJ2008 (cont) - The Canada Airport incident, tasering the Polish immigrant to death. And many other examples where it was NOT necessary to taser the person. U cant tell me a trained officer had to taser a woman in a wheelchair or an out of shape man. Come on now! Cops cant be that weak or helpless. Use some of ur hand to hand combat training.
@zk92000 Sorry for commenting so much. Just looke up up the Baron Pikes incident. I'm shocked with what I found. The police officer tased the man after already having him arrested and I believe in the patrol vehicle even. This officer was obviously a racist prick and I'm glad he got fired. He should be put on trial for wanton negligence.
@zk92000 The wheelchair incident is another example of bad police. I don't think the officer in Mr. Pikes incident would be on trial for homicide as you have to prove intent that he wanted to murder Baron Pikes. Probably on trial for manslaughter and cruelty / maltreatment. Hand to hand training? Most cops aren't martial arts experts. It takes so many years to be proficient in hand to hand. You have to consider the fact anyone can carry a knife or gun. Cops always ask to see people hands
@LittleJ2008 , yeah ur right, it was for "Manslaughter" , i found the youtube video for it, its goin on right now - (winnfield la taser cop scott nugent trial date set). Funny thing about that whole deal, the accused cop was fired but they told eveyone he didnt do anythign wrong. so now the cop is suing the city for wrongful termination. lol
@LittleJ2008, bottom line, i just think this whole cops using taser thing is completely out of control. People are getting hurt & killed. And now Taser International are developing a NEW taser, which is supposed to shoot "Electrified" bean bags, capable of much longer range. like over a 100 ft. Just wait till one of those misses the target & hits an innocent bystander. talk about lawsuit! LOL
@zk92000 I actually like the idea of the taser shotgun round. In intances where someone is threatening to take their own life or suicide by cop incidents, being able to tase someone from further away is better though it should only be used in situations like that with a designated marskman. Ex-officer Nugent doesn't have a case. Tasers are for gaining a high risk arrest, his suspect was already in handcuffs when he tased him. It's not the city's fault he misused equipment.
@LittleJ2008, well my prediction is this will soon all turn into a very bad memory. First of all because of all the bad publicity about taser use many law enforcement agencies have already stopped all taser use. Not so much in the US "YET" but many other countries. My prediction is that within 3-5 years all taser use will be stopped in the US. All it takes is a certain number of deaths & lawsuits. Trust me. Thats how business works. The only taser use u will see after that is in the military.
cont- so my advice to law enforcement is, KEEP GOING! keep doin stupid shit and killing people. Keep using tasers in an illegal fashion. just stack up the lawsuits. it WILL cause tasers to be pulled.
@zk92000 I don't think Tasers will get banned in the U.S. but I do think taser will probably come up with a safer product and police agencies will start issuing stricter department policies. Both of these things I'm in favor for. If you get rid of Taser all together, then you are left with pepper spray, baton, and Lethal force. It would be nice if all police officers were martial arts experts but in reality we're not and we can't tell who's carrying a hidden weapon or not.
@LittleJ2008, well ill tell u. The way its goin so far it doesnt look good. Alot of places have already pulled it. Some of them in the US. most of them outside of the US. but many due to the increase reports of injuries & deaths. And i read a report that was VERY interesting. said that Taser International hid reports from POLICE Officers who had were goin through basic training of tasers, & had a taser used on them & were injured.
(Cont) u see taser inter should never have sold this thing as a "non-lethal' weapon. It is actually has a very low risk of killing a person, (IF USED PROPERLY). but to say it "cant kill" is a lie & only makes them look stupid. They even have reports of many dogs, pets and "COWS" being tasered and dying soon after. its TOTAL BS that it "CANT" kill. any fool can see that. Lets own up to that fact & then maybe they can get some respect. i agree, make it SAFER & RE-TRAIN the trigger happy cops.
@zk92000 Well, I'm glad you kept this discussion civil. Most people prefer to give their vulgar opinion without research or facts and feel using a lot of profanity gets their point across.
@retiredsearge If it was a 20 year old person I would not have as much of a problem with it. This cop did not know if the little old lady had a pacemaker and he could have killed her. This cop should be put in prison for the rest of his life.
@retiredsearge except it WASNT a 20 year old man, it was a 70-something year old grandmother, and that incompetent PIG just subjected her frail heart to 40,000 volts. your 20 year old man analogy is stupid enough to be a topic on the View.
@truthslap if shes that "frail", maybe she have just complied now shouldn't she. The officer simply asked her to sign a speeding ticket, if she would have she would have been on her way. but ofcourse not, a 72yr old grandmother is apperantly above the law......
@Raver919 My goodness, are you really that ignorant? What does her being physically frail have to do with the fact that she's elderly, cantankerous, and not entirely aware of the gravity of certain situations around her? We care for the elderly the same way we do for children and the mentally handicapped, we use DISCRETION because not everybody can be held to the same standards as a perfectly sober and conscious man. Are you trying to be ignorant or do you just hate the elderly?
@truthslap Theres nothing wrong with the elderly, however, if what you say is true quote: "the fact that she's elderly, cantankerous, and not entirely aware of the gravity of certain situations around her" She is in no condition to be driving in the first place, and her license needs to be revoked. I dont want my family getting hit by a person who is not fully competent of laws, and roadsigns (Speeding).
@truthslap my grandmother deserves much worse than what this lady got . what does this have to do with the fact that you are a half woman that squats when she pees .
@thc2468 well you started right. you and your ilk deserve whatever life dishes you, your complete lack of sociability and human empathy could only mean a bitter, lonely life. I feel sorry for you and your grandmother.
@jailstringer watch the video before you jump to conclusions, the officer was in the right. she did push the cop and mouth off to him and he warned her numerous times he will tase her if she doesn't comply. she didn't comply and the officer tased her
@jailstringer Pft are you serious?! She was like a little chihuaua, getting in the officers face and trying to make him backup (INTO TRAFFIC). Besides, she lived right?
i cant imagine an old lady could not be cuffed without the use of a taser. then again, why do people do this?? this whole arguing and being extremely difficult with police?? ill tell you why. cos they know if the cops react in any way, then theyll get a big payout. thats one reason. probably the bigger one, esp in this case, is that people often dont feel like cooperating and they think in their head "whats he gonna do shoot me?".
I think he should have pepper sprayed her instead. or maybe just let her go because old people are above the law. Or maybe the officer did the right thing by keeping her out of traffic and using a compliance tool that is much safer than chemicals. Good job officer. I'm sorry you had to go through all this because one old lady wanted to be exempt from consequences for her actions.
why doesn't her family do anything?........because the stupid bitch was in the wrong the whole fucking time.......from as soon as she decied not to sign the ticket then she became combative then she was warned .1..2..3....4.........5 times.then she LIED about it on the news before she realized it was on video.........she is fucking guilty...I hope I get tazed if I act like that.but I wouldnt..I would have signed the ticket.her dumbass thought she could talk to the officer like he was her child.
This is why when they call me and ask for money donations for the fallen officer fund , I let them know everytime one of you gets killed , I cheer ONE FOR THE GOOD GUYS !! If you married a cop , you deserve the pain of them being mercifully "put down " by gracious street angels .
Quit calling this woman a grandmother. She is nothing more than Lying 72 y.o. woman that wasn't getting her way!
She would have avoided all of this if she just cooperated and went on her way.
The officer could have asked her to step out of harms way, he could have just given her the ticket, but this was a test of wills, and guess what, you argue with a cop and this is what you will get. DARE the cop and he will fulfill dept. POLICY! He didn't have to because policy is not law!
the stupid bitch was in the wrong the whole fucking time.......from as soon as she decied not to sign the ticket then she became combative then she was warned .1..2..3....4.........5 times.then she LIED about it on the news before she realized it was on video.........she is fucking guilty...I hope I get tazed if I act like that.but I wouldnt..I would have signed the ticket.her dumbass thought she could talk to the officer like he was her child.
bitch could have killed someone speeding in a forty-five zone. yeah, her age would have been a great factor in it. she deserved it all of it. lying during her interview before the video was released too? haha, bitch needs more jail time.
Or to get tazed in the face! I can't believe her misconduct. I really wish the police officer had stood up for his rights and shot her, maybe just in the leg, but after he could taze the bullet wound. That way it is cauterized.
if she had never been to jail then you would think shed know how to talk to police. obviously she had never been in trouble and has a superiority complex larger then her brain.
if a teenagers does it, he gets a ticket, if an adult does it, they get a ticket ... she can only blame her self for the taser accident, i find it more pethatic that she is now wining about it on national television :s
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this lying sack o shit! I saw the video from the dashboard cam and she did nothing wrong............he wouldn't like it if his mother or grandmother was treated in this manner, these damn cops are out of control!
That cop was just doing his job and yes they could arrest people before tasering but obviously the means in which they have to arrest people was not doing a sufficient enough job. She was not 100% innocent on this one. Did anyone see how the cop was just trying to get out of the road?
just bcuz she is 72 doesn't matter she doesn't have the right to break the law.All grandmama had to is sign the speeding ticket and all this could have been avoided
If you look at the video of her getting taserd, she actually said she was going to sign it, and that's when he pushed her.
And stop thinking the law is the most important thing in the world. You really think a cop should be able to potentially kill someone for speeding? Shocking a 72 year old is masochistic and could of killed her.
All this god damn *~~[[[[ZAPPING is to easy for these lazy ass pigs. Lazy assed muthafuckas taking a god damn long ass break until tazers are banned. The elderly are specifically the ones who can definitely die from this but noooooooo our officers need to be thoughtless inconsiderate mindless drones even in truly non threatening situations. remember when they did this to a drunk woman. I mean she was totally staggering and fuzzy; WTF kind of threat is that. They~~[[[[ZAPPED the fuck outta her!
GOOD HELL do you people not understand!!!!!! she WAS NOT ARRESTED for speeding!!! she was arrested for not signing the ticket!!! good hell you ignorant hillbillies
she deserved it, the cop told her what to do she didnt do it, he warned her MULTIPLE times but still the hard headed woman would not comply. Granted he could have over powered her and cuffed her BUT that could have resulted in injury, imagine that if in the struggle she were to break loose and get out in the road and hit by a car. I stand behind the officer on this one, he did what was right to remove the possibility of harm to the lady or to himself.
Technically ANYONE can die from this, does this mean we should take them away from cops? Anyone can die from a gun shot, so lets take the cops guns away too. so the next time you need help i guess you will need to call a crack dealer! i support the cop because she didnt sign the ticket, she was under arrest, she resisted arrest she was warned several times. Watch the dash cam video
He can leave without her signature on the ticket just like everywhere else then followed her afterward to make sure she don't fuck up some more. He doesn't need her signature cos she's on tape; the tape is the signature. Duuuuh? Plus no one can legally force you to sign anything anyway.
Exactly! you've got a damned cam on your dash board and you're hounding her for a sig? All this shit just to meet quota? disgusting.
"oh noes the 72yr old was trying to hurt me by pushing me, boohooo" COPs just aren't what they used to be. These guys have been turned into Pussies that hide behind their weaponry and superiors that fend for these idiots for popularity within the ranks.
Just picture the elderly woman as a 32 year old man, behaving just as belligerent while taunting the officer to, "use the taser then, use it. I dare you." You're telling me you would still feel that way?
The geriatric didn't know she was being taped and thought she could use her age to get away with her behavior, not to mention her need to keep pushing both of them more towards the oncoming traffic.
Stop concentrating on her age because no one has free reign when it comes to the law.
You are an absolute IDIOT! Police Officers are using those TASERS, because they can! How would you feel if it was your mother or grandmother? Go Away dumb ass!!!!
If it was my grandmother, then I'd ask her why she chose to act like a belligerent moron instead of facing up to what she knows she did wrong and act accordingly. The old geezer knows she's in the wrong, which is why she refused to do any more interviews once the dash cam video came out.
No one is above the law, even cranky old grannies. After multiple times, the officer warned her and she refused to back off. So screw you, you mindless cunt! Now you may go away.
How do you know she isn't suffering from hodgkin's, and had no control over her actions?
The difference between tazering a 30 year old, and a 72 year old is that the 72 year old is a lot more likely to die. It could have triggered a heart attack, she could have stopped breathing from the shock.. anything. Life existed before tasers, and old cranky grannys would have been arrested then too, without risking their lives.
Wrong! She risked her own life when she refused to comply with an officer, choosing instead to become noncompliant and defiant. Not to mention, refusing to move out from harm's way. Her age should have no bearing on the situation or allow her to forgo the consequences.
She had no control over her actions? Then obviously she shouldn't be behind the wheel of what could potentially be a dangerous vehicle for other drivers.
not so sure about that. Being tasered isn't what you would expect. I have been tasered before, my father was a cop,I wanted to know how it felt, and he had his equipment with him...it is not fun, but it is an experience to have... I gotta say after the needles are pulled out you feel pretty good. What it does it lock you up for like 3 or 4 seconds, you can't move is all. I don't think it's enough to trigger a heart attack, even for a 72 year old woman, it's completely safe.
learn the laws before you open your ignorant mouth.
the signature is not admitting guilt, the law states you must sign the violation, if you do not sign the violation, at that moment you are under arrest. after that she was resisting arrest, and not following orders and the cop was under all the right to taz her
go to speedingticketcentral (dot) com (slash) Texas (dash) speeding (dash) ticket (dot) html
it says
"Do not argue your case on the side of the road, save that for court. Also you must sign the ticket or you will receive a free taxi ride to the local jail. Signing is not an admission of guilt, just a promise to appear in court. You do not have the right to see the radar readout and it does not matter anyway."
"A speeding ticket is considered a criminal offense and your case will be in the municipal court or the justice of the peace. Your court date on the ticket is an arraignment where you can enter a plea or negotiate for a lesser fine and points. You do have the option of requesting a jury trial but if you lose there will be court costs and possibly a higher fine."
wow she even tried to LIE to the TV crew! keep going granny you were in the right to NOT sign the ticket and go to jail... oh wait no i dont want to go to jail now... taze me i dare ya... well you got what u asked for once again granny (taze me i dare ya!) ROFL
You all think a 5ft 72yr old Grandma can actually threaten a 250lb TRAINED Police officer? You're either all COPs yourselves, severely retarded or both.
Oh, she cursed at him, big whoop. If COPs in Texas feel threatened by swearing grannies then they've got to be the weakest most pathetic COPs on the planet.
These people have no business being COPs. They have low IQ that can't handle little powers given to them. Get these pathetic simpletons freaks off the force!
So he was suppose to let her leave the scene and get back in the car? Officers have a protocol to follow, if he would have subdued her by other means a broken bone could have been the aftermath, frankly you are missing the point: She refused to adhere to the law and became combative versus the officer who was non-combative.
You know the police dealt with the elderly very well before tasers. This isn't something new. I'm sure some officer has handled this type of situation better. The normal way is to simply physically take here to the ground with his weight and you know he's got plenty of it then cuff her or just stay on her till backup comes. We've all see COPS; this is the regular way and they do and have done just that to older people on the show COPS. This was the way before tazers. Duuuuuh!
She was "combative"?! R U kidding me? what pussies. If THAT was combative to a COP then lord help us.
Here's 2, of many, things the COP could have done quite easily:
1) Cease her keys till she signed the ticket and sit in you vehicle if you have to.
2) How about this one - just let her go with a damned warning. She was doing 60 in a 45 under construction, it's not murder but No-ooo, first thing you do is escalate the situation your own self - MORONS!
Who Cares if she is 72 years of AGE. She is not cooperating with the officer. Why should it be different because she is old..If she is old enough to be an Ass-hole then she is old enough to be tased!

American Pigs !!! Pure Scum if That Was My grandmother i would not let him have hurt her like that!!! :@
99russell99 1 year ago
It's not his fault that the law states that if they don't sign they are under arrest. He reacted and pushed her back because he felt squeezed up against the road, close to the traffic...not smooth, not nice, but not totally malicious. She was given all kinds of warning. If you're under arrest, you don't get to just get in your vehicle and leave because you want to. If he had taken her by force any other way, she'd still be complaining, and if she got hurt he'd be in the wrong and fired.

Quakership89 1 year ago
The victim of course paid the heavy price for challenging that scumbag, what with the inordinate power that the American police have. Nowhere else other than in the USA would this occur. That frail elderly victim shows more bravery and resilience than most of these younger wimps who have the downright cheek to scorn her. The police should have complied with HER, not the other way around.
Quakership89 1 year ago
@Quakership89 OH! So she breaks the law, and the police should comply with her? On what grounds? If you watch the full video, he is giving her a ticket to sign. He was being polite, all she had to do was sign it. She wanted to become hostile toward the officer so, she was tased.
usp401 1 year ago
@usp401 So in your mind that gives him the right to TASER a senior citizen, subjecting her heart to over 40,000 volts of electricity. What if she had a pacemaker? What if he caused a heart attack, or what if she died from panic? There is something called discretion, we in America expect that from our officers, and you sound like an inconsiderate asshole. he's a GROWN MAN for god's sake, she's an old lady, he can find another way to apprehend her. your grandmother should be ashamed of you.
truthslap 1 year ago
This is not a tough one. This Officer had no way of knowing if this little old woman had a pacemaker. The Officer threatened her life and should be put in prison for the rest of his life. The cops are out of control in this country. This is not America!

I am praying that she will have the strength, wisdom and courage to face her own inadequacies, and learn to overcome them.
waterboardbush 1 year ago
Another note, the officer is obese and doesn't represent his department well with his appearance. If he was in shape though, then comments would still fault him and people would just say, "well, he's young and in shape. Why couldn't he handle her," Police aren't looking to fight the public. The reason why police have pepper spray, batons, taser etc. is making arrest isn't about a fair fight. It's about getting it done as fast and as safe as possible. She's obviously uninjured from this.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
I think this could have been handled differently but if you watch the update to the video and if you undertand how tasers work, you can form a better opinion. He probably didn't want to wrestle the woman to the ground because he didn't want to risk injuring her or end up with both of them getting hit by oncoming traffic. He still could have handled it a little better in the begining but it's a lesson learned. Both came out uninjured and that's the main goal in an arrest.

Cops are scumbags. He is lucky she didnt have a heart attack from the taser. Or she could have broken a bone when she collapsed from the taser stun.
zk92000 2 years ago
The electrical waves produced in the taser mimic the part of the central nervous system's electrical impulse that regulate skeletal muscle only. That's why people drop when properly tased, they lose control of voluntary motor skills in the electrical spread. It does not affect cardiac or digestive muscles. Yes it's 50,000 volts but it's not volts that kill, its amperage or amps. I believe it only takes 2 amps to kill a human which is equal to a household outlet. Taser is less than 1 amp.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008, i have to disagree with you. First of all have u heard the new guidlines that Taser Inter. Suggest? They have 2 new Guidlines for law enforcement. 1) To try to not taser the individual in the chest. 2) To try to not taser a person multiple times. So, let me ask u this. Why would they even bother doing that? If the taser CANT kill it makes no sense to have those 2 new guidlines. The reason they have them ill continue.
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000 I didn't say the Taser can't kill. All less than lethal weapons can become lethal. The main thing to consider is where the person is when tasering. Don't the subject to fall in an unsafe area. For the second quideline, when I went through the training before this came out, we were told not to tase multiple times and to place handcuffs on the subject asap.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008 (cont). The reason they have those new guidlines. (AND U CAN LOOK THIS UP). Taser Inter. Said to "lower lawsuits" against Taser Intl! Most of the lawsuits where people died after being tasered were tasered multiple times, & also in the chest area. You can say whatever you want, but at this point there are so many examples of people dying soon after being tasered that its a mute point to argue. People of all ages & backgrounds.
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000 I don't have to look it up, i recieve the training bulletins. Taser did state in the event someone may have cardiac arrest, not aiming for the chest helps to mitigate excessive force rulings in court. The other reason stated to aim lower and this was in the training before the changes, to prevent risk of the probes punturing the throat or eyes. The most preffered target area has always been the back since it is large and most clothing is spread tight across the back.

LittleJ2008 2 years ago
I can give u soo many examples its not even funny. Here is one: Baron Pikes was a healthy 21year-old man. police records showed Nugent administered 9 Taser shocks to Pikes over a 14-minute period. An autopsy determined there were NO drugs in Pikes' system & that he did not have asthma, according to Dr. Randolph Williams, the Winn Parish coroner. On the death certificate, he listed the cause of death as "cardiac arrest" following 9, 50k volt taser applications Look it up. Thats just 1 EXAMPLE.
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000 Well, I looked up couple articles. In 400 deaths where taser was used in an arrest 30 were medically determined to be direct result of the taser's use. Keep in mind Tasers have been in use for years and I think the number of use in arrests is well beyond 10,000. It's become popular with police because subjects fight through the pain of pepper spray or getting hit with a baton but Tasers cause the muscles to "lock up" so they can't fight through even if they want to.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@zk92000 I will admit police agencies need stricter guidelines on implementing taser in use of force doctrines and incidents where people were tasered 50 times or with multiple tasers shows a serious lack of good judgement on the officer's behalf. I've been tased myself and it was second in the worst pain i've felt next to pepper spray but the worst part is realizing you can't move so you just have to take it. The good thing is once it's over the pain goes away in minutes. Pepper spray? Hours
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008, i understand what ur saying. My Biggest problem is the use of tasers that is completely opposite to the original intent. The original purpose of the taser was to provide an alternate non leathal weapon then a gun. But that it was to be used ONLY in the event that all other options were exhausted. Seems like most of the videos u see on youtube & see in the news are examples where this was NOT the case. Example,The death of a 56-year-old wheelchair-bound disabled woman in FL.
zk92000 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008 (cont) - The Canada Airport incident, tasering the Polish immigrant to death. And many other examples where it was NOT necessary to taser the person. U cant tell me a trained officer had to taser a woman in a wheelchair or an out of shape man. Come on now! Cops cant be that weak or helpless. Use some of ur hand to hand combat training.
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000 Sorry for commenting so much. Just looke up up the Baron Pikes incident. I'm shocked with what I found. The police officer tased the man after already having him arrested and I believe in the patrol vehicle even. This officer was obviously a racist prick and I'm glad he got fired. He should be put on trial for wanton negligence.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008, & yeah about the Baron Pikes incident the cop responsible is currently on trial, facing homicide charges. WHICH HE SHOULD!
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000 The wheelchair incident is another example of bad police. I don't think the officer in Mr. Pikes incident would be on trial for homicide as you have to prove intent that he wanted to murder Baron Pikes. Probably on trial for manslaughter and cruelty / maltreatment. Hand to hand training? Most cops aren't martial arts experts. It takes so many years to be proficient in hand to hand. You have to consider the fact anyone can carry a knife or gun. Cops always ask to see people hands
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008 , yeah ur right, it was for "Manslaughter" , i found the youtube video for it, its goin on right now - (winnfield la taser cop scott nugent trial date set). Funny thing about that whole deal, the accused cop was fired but they told eveyone he didnt do anythign wrong. so now the cop is suing the city for wrongful termination. lol
zk92000 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008, bottom line, i just think this whole cops using taser thing is completely out of control. People are getting hurt & killed. And now Taser International are developing a NEW taser, which is supposed to shoot "Electrified" bean bags, capable of much longer range. like over a 100 ft. Just wait till one of those misses the target & hits an innocent bystander. talk about lawsuit! LOL
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000
Police State?
DredgePhantom 2 years ago
@zk92000 I actually like the idea of the taser shotgun round. In intances where someone is threatening to take their own life or suicide by cop incidents, being able to tase someone from further away is better though it should only be used in situations like that with a designated marskman. Ex-officer Nugent doesn't have a case. Tasers are for gaining a high risk arrest, his suspect was already in handcuffs when he tased him. It's not the city's fault he misused equipment.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008, well my prediction is this will soon all turn into a very bad memory. First of all because of all the bad publicity about taser use many law enforcement agencies have already stopped all taser use. Not so much in the US "YET" but many other countries. My prediction is that within 3-5 years all taser use will be stopped in the US. All it takes is a certain number of deaths & lawsuits. Trust me. Thats how business works. The only taser use u will see after that is in the military.
zk92000 2 years ago
cont- so my advice to law enforcement is, KEEP GOING! keep doin stupid shit and killing people. Keep using tasers in an illegal fashion. just stack up the lawsuits. it WILL cause tasers to be pulled.
zk92000 2 years ago
@zk92000 I don't think Tasers will get banned in the U.S. but I do think taser will probably come up with a safer product and police agencies will start issuing stricter department policies. Both of these things I'm in favor for. If you get rid of Taser all together, then you are left with pepper spray, baton, and Lethal force. It would be nice if all police officers were martial arts experts but in reality we're not and we can't tell who's carrying a hidden weapon or not.
LittleJ2008 2 years ago
@LittleJ2008, well ill tell u. The way its goin so far it doesnt look good. Alot of places have already pulled it. Some of them in the US. most of them outside of the US. but many due to the increase reports of injuries & deaths. And i read a report that was VERY interesting. said that Taser International hid reports from POLICE Officers who had were goin through basic training of tasers, & had a taser used on them & were injured.
zk92000 2 years ago
(Cont) u see taser inter should never have sold this thing as a "non-lethal' weapon. It is actually has a very low risk of killing a person, (IF USED PROPERLY). but to say it "cant kill" is a lie & only makes them look stupid. They even have reports of many dogs, pets and "COWS" being tasered and dying soon after. its TOTAL BS that it "CANT" kill. any fool can see that. Lets own up to that fact & then maybe they can get some respect. i agree, make it SAFER & RE-TRAIN the trigger happy cops.

i cant imagine an old lady could not be cuffed without the use of a taser. then again, why do people do this?? this whole arguing and being extremely difficult with police?? ill tell you why. cos they know if the cops react in any way, then theyll get a big payout. thats one reason. probably the bigger one, esp in this case, is that people often dont feel like cooperating and they think in their head "whats he gonna do shoot me?".

They~~[[[[ZAPPED the fuck outta her!
athews1976 2 years ago
WHY EVEN HAND CUFF HER SHE'S 72!... DOING 60 IN A 45 ZONE!
... WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SOCIETY TURNING INTO FOR FUCK'S SAKE! You'd think she was the Grandma leader of the Hell's Angels or something.

athews1976 2 years ago
she deserved it, the cop told her what to do she didnt do it, he warned her MULTIPLE times but still the hard headed woman would not comply. Granted he could have over powered her and cuffed her BUT that could have resulted in injury, imagine that if in the struggle she were to break loose and get out in the road and hit by a car. I stand behind the officer on this one, he did what was right to remove the possibility of harm to the lady or to himself.
1f0und1 2 years ago
What! Old people can die from this. The police can very well deal with the elderly the same way they did before tazers. Duuuuh!
athews1976 2 years ago
Technically ANYONE can die from this, does this mean we should take them away from cops? Anyone can die from a gun shot, so lets take the cops guns away too. so the next time you need help i guess you will need to call a crack dealer! i support the cop because she didnt sign the ticket, she was under arrest, she resisted arrest she was warned several times. Watch the dash cam video
1f0und1 2 years ago
He can leave without her signature on the ticket just like everywhere else then followed her afterward to make sure she don't fuck up some more. He doesn't need her signature cos she's on tape; the tape is the signature. Duuuuh? Plus no one can legally force you to sign anything anyway.
athews1976 2 years ago
Exactly! you've got a damned cam on your dash board and you're hounding her for a sig? All this shit just to meet quota? disgusting.
"oh noes the 72yr old was trying to hurt me by pushing me, boohooo" COPs just aren't what they used to be. These guys have been turned into Pussies that hide behind their weaponry and superiors that fend for these idiots for popularity within the ranks.
Chubearishere 2 years ago
Just picture the elderly woman as a 32 year old man, behaving just as belligerent while taunting the officer to, "use the taser then, use it. I dare you." You're telling me you would still feel that way?
The geriatric didn't know she was being taped and thought she could use her age to get away with her behavior, not to mention her need to keep pushing both of them more towards the oncoming traffic.
Stop concentrating on her age because no one has free reign when it comes to the law.
fallenanjel 2 years ago 3
You are an absolute IDIOT! Police Officers are using those TASERS, because they can! How would you feel if it was your mother or grandmother? Go Away dumb ass!!!!
dgerjevic 2 years ago
If it was my grandmother, then I'd ask her why she chose to act like a belligerent moron instead of facing up to what she knows she did wrong and act accordingly. The old geezer knows she's in the wrong, which is why she refused to do any more interviews once the dash cam video came out.
No one is above the law, even cranky old grannies. After multiple times, the officer warned her and she refused to back off. So screw you, you mindless cunt! Now you may go away.
fallenanjel 2 years ago 2
How do you know she isn't suffering from hodgkin's, and had no control over her actions?
The difference between tazering a 30 year old, and a 72 year old is that the 72 year old is a lot more likely to die. It could have triggered a heart attack, she could have stopped breathing from the shock.. anything. Life existed before tasers, and old cranky grannys would have been arrested then too, without risking their lives.
He risked her life, over a speeding ticket.
toffeeapple7 2 years ago
Nurrr, not hodgkins.
Huntington's**
toffeeapple7 2 years ago
Wrong! She risked her own life when she refused to comply with an officer, choosing instead to become noncompliant and defiant. Not to mention, refusing to move out from harm's way. Her age should have no bearing on the situation or allow her to forgo the consequences.
She had no control over her actions? Then obviously she shouldn't be behind the wheel of what could potentially be a dangerous vehicle for other drivers.
fallenanjel 2 years ago
not so sure about that.
Justanothercritic1 2 years ago
learn the laws before you open your ignorant mouth.
the signature is not admitting guilt, the law states you must sign the violation, if you do not sign the violation, at that moment you are under arrest. after that she was resisting arrest, and not following orders and the cop was under all the right to taz her
1f0und1 2 years ago
go to speedingticketcentral (dot) com (slash) Texas (dash) speeding (dash) ticket (dot) html
it says
"Do not argue your case on the side of the road, save that for court. Also you must sign the ticket or you will receive a free taxi ride to the local jail. Signing is not an admission of guilt, just a promise to appear in court. You do not have the right to see the radar readout and it does not matter anyway."
1f0und1 2 years ago
"A speeding ticket is considered a criminal offense and your case will be in the municipal court or the justice of the peace. Your court date on the ticket is an arraignment where you can enter a plea or negotiate for a lesser fine and points. You do have the option of requesting a jury trial but if you lose there will be court costs and possibly a higher fine."

You people are dolts!
Chubearishere 2 years ago
So he was suppose to let her leave the scene and get back in the car? Officers have a protocol to follow, if he would have subdued her by other means a broken bone could have been the aftermath, frankly you are missing the point: She refused to adhere to the law and became combative versus the officer who was non-combative.
s04b 2 years ago
You know the police dealt with the elderly very well before tasers. This isn't something new. I'm sure some officer has handled this type of situation better. The normal way is to simply physically take here to the ground with his weight and you know he's got plenty of it then cuff her or just stay on her till backup comes. We've all see COPS; this is the regular way and they do and have done just that to older people on the show COPS. This was the way before tazers. Duuuuuh!
athews1976 2 years ago
She was "combative"?! R U kidding me? what pussies. If THAT was combative to a COP then lord help us.
Here's 2, of many, things the COP could have done quite easily:
1) Cease her keys till she signed the ticket and sit in you vehicle if you have to.
2) How about this one - just let her go with a damned warning. She was doing 60 in a 45 under construction, it's not murder but No-ooo, first thing you do is escalate the situation your own self - MORONS!
How hard is it to do these 2 things?
Chubearishere 2 years ago
and antother thing, if the cop would forcfully handcuffed her, odds are that when she continued struggle he would have broke bones of the idiot.
