Yes, White Hall is just behind Hangar 2. Plans are to tear both White Hall and Hangar 2 down and build an airport terminal. Chanute never should have closed. It was put on the list by mistake and once on, it could not be removed. No bases in Texas were closed. Burn in HELL, George Bush.
@BrynMawrYamBag The building you are looking at is a thousand man dorm called White Hall. It is located on Chanute AFB in Rantoul Illinois. It was the 2nd largest building in the military, with only the Pentagon being larger. White Hall contains asbestos in just about everything from the floor tile to the window putty. It would cost millions to fix it up or tear it down, so it just sits there forming calcium rusticles like a brick and mortar Titanic.
@born2soon That was the building by the hangers right? I was there Jan. thru Mar. of 92. Stayed in the dorms on the what I think was the south end of the base.
