NO Hero will ever be as fast as Cyanogen's ROMs... Not for awhile anyway.

Its like comparing the speed of Windows Xp vs. Windows Vista.

I think Cyanogen is REALLY ugly and Hero is the most gorgeous UI to date.

On that note. It is VERY fast compared to other Hero ROMs. You should give it a flash and decide for yourself. =)

I want 1GHz CPU. FULL 5 row QWERTY keyboard (like the G1) or if 4 rows, then NOT where the spacebar is mixed in between the letter keys (Moment or Droid).

Sadly the Samsung Moment doesn't have a digital compass (according to the Samsung USA twitter) so the phone will not have a good implementation of augmented reality apps =(.

So lets hope for the Droid but I am a student so I might go for the Cliq if it is cheap enough when it comes here.

I did the modaco update and I got the new RA recovery(thanks by the way), and partitioned, convert ext2 to ext3, applied update and I got a "failure at line 88"

What do I do?

You should be using Amon Ra's recovery by now and you can use it to partition your sd card with a 96MB swap (only takes 1 click)

I also have a class 6 sd card and I used Set CPU app to make it move faster. =)

Not familiar with MyTouch's... but I think you should be rooted.

And try going into settings and Local and Text and unchecking the MyTouch keyboard....

Any of the Hero apks (like the keyboard) won't be compatible with a stock MyTouch or anything.

You're gonna need to root (jailbreak) your phone and install a Hero ROM

When you update your radio, it will ask you to reboot to finish installation. Reboot and then you will be back at recovery and then you flash the SPL, then it will ask you to reboot to finish installation. Then you flash the ROM. Then it too will ask you to reboot to finish installation...

MLIGN is just as good if you want to try something "new" since it IS just Modaco 1.5.1 but optimized and he took out a lot of apps most people don't use.

I'm using MLIGN 2.0.1 and I like it (of course since its based off of Modaco 1.5.1)

anyway, MoDaco 2.2 ran super laggy on my phone, and came with incorrect apn setting so i couldnt even sync with gmail until figuring that out. (which took forever)

1.5.1 on the other hand is a freaking beast! runs with all my apps going...swipey swipeys are like butter....its goddamn beautiful.

aesthetically this kills the iphone. pages full of apps just looks ugly in comparison to the sense ui of the Hero.

The files are in MoDaCo's update 1.5.2. If you look at rg8rc18's vidoes there is a video on there showing you how to get the boot screen up and working. Frankly if you have your phone set up right after you boot for the first time the screen won't be black long enough to notice that there isn't a boot screen.

You have to reformat your SDcard for a 96mb swap atleast thats how Chris told me. When you get to the last partition you set it for 96 and then you just finish formatting it as you did when you first partitioned you card. Check out his video on partition your SDcard. And MoDaCo is pretty stable. I have been using it almost a week and since I have switched to a 96mb linux swap, I haven't had any problems.

There is a pretty good version of Modaco 2.2 out.... only problem is browser doesn't work. As soon as they fix it, I'll do a review...

i set it at the max on both 528MHZ for max and min. wit h it set at 528 for min that'l get rid of the lag from screensaver back to use seeing as though the processor wont go down to the default 128. and it's not all that bad on battery life like i thought it'd be
