  • great artist, not considered for what he gave to rock music...great song!! thanks!!

  • Is there any way to get a copy of this? This is my favorite version of Seed of Memory.......Any info would be appreciated.

  • I think this is one of his best songs and of course, the vocals are stellar...To me, his phrasing is very similar to Aretha. Actually, it would've been great to hear her take on Seed of Memory...

  • where does this bootleg come from? does anyone have a link from where it comes from? (i.e. where can i get a better copy of it?) in better Audio - not much stuff around from the seed of memory era live wise.

  • Amazing...gives me chills every time!

  • When he started singing I got the chills.....none as intense as I got hearing him sing live for the first time. I love Terry Reid.

  • hearing that solo mekes my skin crawl even after hearing it everyday for the past 2 years, hey hey hey hey smoke weed everyday

  • fkucking AWESOME! quality is great for the time. You can hear everything fine.

  • who the fuck is playing lead guitar in this?

Not sure if it is terry reid or not.

  • @BeBopDeluxe85

    David Lindley??

  • Who said robert plant had the best rock vocals. Not even close to terry reid.

  • I think you all know that this man could of had all the fame in tthe world in a band topping charts talked about everything but he was dedicated to tour with cream as an opening act but he gave it all away to a boy named robert plant..............

  • the day i get tired of this song will be the day i die. awesome

  • the day i get tired of this will be the day i die. awesome

  • Thanks so much for posting this. An amazing version. The guitar work is amazing and the back-up singers at the end really set it off. If only there was some video around...and maybe a version of "To Be Treated Right". Thanks again.

  • Not gonna lie, I cried a little.

  • this live version is so fucking awsome wish i had it on cd

  • raw rock at its best

  • That was Unbelievable,

Fuckin' Terry Reid is absolutlely brilliant-

    Really Awesome Post from '76

How people have this shit blows my mind...

  • I was a bouncer at the Bottom Line many years ago. After Terry's time to be sure but a great venue is missed none the less.

  • An immortal and haunting classic.

    Thanks Terry.

  • sound 4 the upload 1 of me fav tracks ever!!great 2 hear a gud quality live version

  • I won't say how or when the song is played in the Devil's Rejects...but I will say that it couldn't have been a more fitting time than when it was used in the movie...which was also great, with it's pure shock and twisted-ness...I'm not a white zombie fan either.

  • I have to agree with you about placement of this song. In fact, all Terry's song placement in the movie was perfect, imo.

  • Never been a Rob Zombie movie fan but will have to see Devils Rejects just to see how he used him.

Weird mix Rob Zombie into Terry Reid???

  • @BluesRaves Have you see the movie yet?

  • It's nothing special, it's played during the credits. While it's a great movie and a great song I don't know why people love that it's played at the very end?

  • Great version of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ; )

  • MAN..., why have I just discovered this song after watching Devil's Rejects? I was a Rockin', Funk-i-tear all thru the 70's. How could I have missed this guy Terri Reid. I must have had my head up my ass. SHIT!

Did he get radio play back in the day?

    PEACE

  • Terry got airplay back in the day during the AOR format heyday on FM radio from the late 60's to the mid 70's. By '75 or '76 playlists had crept back into the scene and the only Terry Reid you were going to hear was Superlungs (which I love, BTW).

  • Thanks for the info.

  • Terry suffered from alot of legal/management trouble which fucked his career for a while.

    Damn shame!!!

  • same with me

  • Thank you for sharing this gem! Knowing it was New York in the Summer 1976 makes it even better (NOT the ideal place to be), and you can almost hear the sweat dripping off the walls, which makes it even more creepy (cool). This song scares me, and that's a good thing. Kind of like Richie Havens' "The Parable of Ramon" in the live version, when the baby in the audience cries on cue? Yeah, like that.

  • Thanks for sharing this w/ us!!! Incredible!!

  • Terry was in great form @ the studio on april 6, 2009. He had the audience in his hand and gave them his heart. I 'm hoping someone has a video of TERRY REID @ THE STUDIO NYC, 4/6/09... the band was a special one:

Ed Rainey from the Cosmic American Derelicts Band on guitar/ slide

    Tony Cimorosi NS upright bass

    Tony Beard Drums

    Benny Harris Keys

Terry and the band had a great connection ... Hope to see some on YOUTUBE soon.

  • Anyone happen to have this in mp3 form? (fingers crossed)

  • Just saw this post-I do have this show from the Bottom line. Just thought I'd let ya know, If you still need it-let me know,I'll get it over to you somehow..

  • i love that song..

  • man i love this guy... but does this sound like "Dangerbird" to anyone??

  • Terry Reid owns it!!! This is incredible. He's one of the most under-rated musicians ever. This is out of left-field, but I would love to hear DOWN cover this. Phil Anselmo, I think, could nail this. Layne Staley could have done it too, but unfortunately we'll never know...

  • the reason why Terry is one of a kind is no one would be able to pull this off like him. ....i just saw this live on friday in New York.....even now its one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I rarely know how to verbalize the word "beautiful" but if anyone asks me i would tell them to buy a ticket...draw a chair..sit, be still and quiet and listen to a this man perform this song.

  • Was lucky to see and meet him at a show, lovely man and great performance!

  • i wish i had it in better quality - glad you enjoyed!

  • it was pretty good what element

  • @xxxstarmanxxx where did you get this? how can i get this on audio file?

  • @jizzleman1101 Download reaplayer and use the converter to MP3

  • Still an awesome performer today, always heartfelt and real. Love the way he lets the gigs make their own way, without the formal structure, of say, "3 minute song, thank you, applause", repeat. Things change over the years, some 40 years, but this man has always been genuine and without pretense. He is that rare breath of fresh air to the hype machinery and the "born ready- for- arena rock" bands.

Anyone know the players/singers here? And is that Terry taking that phenomenal guitar lead?

  • If I ever get any more info on this gig - I'll post it - I would also like to know the line up - espec the backing vocalists!

  • @xxxstarmanxxx

Graham Nash - Im not 100% sure...But it might be...

  • ohh that was an awesome performance!

    thanks for uploading! :D *cheers*

  • Glad you enjoyed - Justin

  • So you've seen him. Lucky duck. I can only hope. Never mind chatting... just to be present at a gig. *sigh*

  • Only managed to catch him in 2007,2008 - I'd give any of my limbs to have seen him in the early 70's!

  • From what I've heard (old videos/audios and lucky old concertgoers' accounts) it would have been indeed worth a limb... or two...

  • Hmmm... not so sure he lost that much. No change really in the album versions of 1976. And I just listened to 5th of July - from the Driver album, recorded in 1991, the power is all there all right... may have dropped the pitch though, singing in a lower register than in his teen years, which is kind of normal. Remember also, he smokes like a chimney, always did...

  • very true! i'm gonna listen to the slower stuff on that today - yes your right power is there - register is defferent! funny you mention the smoking - I've stood outside talking to Terry on 2 occasions when he's gigged at norwich playhouse uk - and he really does go through the ciggies!!! at least 5 in an hour!

  • Yay! Nice upload, thanks!

  • I do like this 9 mins!!! - after listening to these properly - (i just had them stored last time round) - I'm quite suprised Terry had lost some of his voice range by 76 - Makes me appreciate his voice more in present day recordings i guess - its like in 6 years - power had dissappeared but his expression just over takes me! every time!

  • Its a great experience when he plays norwich - i'm standing there chatting to him with friends - asking about the plane he's restoring at duxford and how the tours going - and in the back of my mind i'm like......fcuk! you opened glastonbury faye - you played iow 70' - you toured with the rolling stones! its a fantastic thing to be thinking about!
