@jhb972 Define response. The RB 26 is 13% smaller. All of that displacement is lost in a shorter stroke. The 2JZ-GTE is square, RB26 is undersquare. So by that minor detail the RB should be a little more rev happy, but that doesn't equal "response". If this was the case why not go for the even more undersquare 1JZ?

There's only so much you can do with boost, you do still need displacement to help spool the turbo in the first place. In this case the 2JZ should spool faster with the same turbo.

When u have a look at Supras on youtube, people mainly focus on the output power without really focusing on the engine response. When you have a look on both engines, the 2jz is a 3.3l whereas the RB is a 2.6l, yet both deliver the same stock power with both twin turbo. I'm not too shure about the supra but the turbos on the GTR has been displaced that way to cancel turbo lags.

@NEWiViAN u misunderstand engine response and response in general... the mine's r34 is the ultimate machine because of its engine response (power throughout all the rpm level) whereas response in general includes suspension, tires, LSD, etc... but here in this video, we talking engine response and due to the RB being undersquare, it better capacity than the 2jz , which in term of brutal output might be better than the RB. Both are great engines but both are specifically used separately

@heinamen except that u can't swap the JZ80 out of a MK.IV (4) supra because that is a MK.4 supra you mean to swap the 2JZ-GTE out. And for all we know this could have started life as a N/A supra so the RB26 swap was something to be different and cool. and No turbo-ing a N/A a 2JZ is not as simple as slapping a turbo on the two engines (Ge vs. GTE) are two different animals so to speak.

What the hell? Not only is this wrong for brand swapping, but the 2JZ has a 3.0 liter turbo that spools the fuck out of anything vs. the higher revving but much less torquey 2.6 liter. I would take a 2JZ over a RB26 any day (except maybe a RB26 N1 engine.. MMM!)
