Like all early Japanese cars, they had rust issues, but they were strong running cars with a reputation for strength and reliability to no end. Far superior to the American made pieces of shit on the road in that time.
I have to say, cars back then were much better designed, better-looking and stronger than the boring fiberglass shitty-looking "shells-on-wheels" on the roads today. I can't even tell one from the other, they ALL look the same...the only good ones are the "retro" designs (PT Cruiser, Morris Mini, Chevy HHR --which resembles a 1950s delivery truck--Chevy Camaro and the good, old Ford Mustang). Wish they "retro'd" Japanese cars, too!! God how I miss the old days!
@ursa41 yep most cars are getting uglier but I think they are getting more fuel efficient and powerful with smaller engines and the North American cars are getting better. The Hondas and Toyotas from the 1990s seemed to be their best time. The style was simple but looked good and they had the power and fuel economy of today and didn't rust like they did in the 70s and 80s.
I was in a car accident in a "fabulous" accord hatch back. The entire back portion of the vehicle caved in clear up to the back seat. Like an aluminum can.
Theres an old Honda dealership in downtown Fort Lauderdale that is haunted they say, it still has the old Honda logo on the sign outside with these cars ads on posters inside...creepy
@jakesaintsrow123 kind of was being sarcastic and meant about a 1972 monster LTD when the term meant "Lincoln Type Design." Literally between the Fox and Panther bodies.
@joh2 You seem to have a chronological aptitude disorder of some sort. You see, when they said "upsize" in 1978, they weren't comparing their then-new models to models to be built 30+ years in the future. See?
Why the FUCK is "10 WORST CARS EVER MADE IN THE WORLD" in the suggested?

@voltron821 True. The 1990s did produce excellent Japanese cars--attractive, durable and easy to maintain.
