@tsneh SPD, Super Physics Deform. Using the elevator from 2 chapters ago, I was able to imbue the pickaxe with the power of the gods. Basically, it is able to exert the maximum for in the game, so I use it like a human cannon.

No, actually Im speedrunning half life episode 2 and I did something similar (I couldnt get the pickax jump to work so I skipped it by wallclimbing) and yes the car DOES spawn there. Its quite convenient.

In some HL2 speed runs you see them avoid fall damage by rapidly activating sprint how does that work?

I've never heard of that before. Can you link me to a video where that happens?

I'm pretty sure Raziel means avoiding fall damage by sprinting against a slope (thus reducing the downwards momentum) as done in the HL2DQ run.

You don't need to sprint, though. You just can hit a slope (greater than 45 degrees) and it'll count as a 'wall' and not the 'ground', so you take no fall damage.

That only really works well in original HL2. You just pick up and object and bop them on the head with it while they are moving.

question: why do you do that super speed run jump thingy backwards, cant you just do it by walking front. and not by walking back?

You can only do it while holding crouch and jumping backwards. If you check console when you start up the game, it should say a message like 'cannot find command sv_backspeed.' It seems they either misnamed the command to control the backwards movement speed or just forgot to write it.

u didn need 2 run all the way back 2 abh thru that forest. ther is a cliff n fence thing near the shed with the advisor i can get ova. and the forest is way way better 4 abh =p

You needed to be in the forest so you could skip a trigger that says "You needed Alyx... blah blah blah" and the game will start over. Unless, I never tested that after going into the advisor room and then exiting it... Because originally, i didnt even go to the town, i just went to the next level.

I don't think you really need to hide from the "drop dozens of mines at once" attack. I remember picking them all up and just throwing them away so they didn't kill all the people who were fighting with me, so you could probably get a few attacks in during that time. Other than that, good job. Can't wait to see you fight of the 10 Striders.

Bug abuse is fine for a speedrun. The only thing not allowed in a speedrun are savestates.

Also, dialogue is not mandatory.

Its a glitch in the game. You can make the pickaxe hit you with an incredible force thatll make you fly really fast and really far.

5 is now uploaded. Its in 2 parts because its a bit longer than these other ones. I just spent this morning going through Ch6... I found some minor sequence breaks, but other than that, fighting those striders will be insanity.
