Teddy Pendergrass is one of the best R&B vocalists of his time. In 1982 he was injured in an car accident, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. He founded the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, a foundation that helps those with spinal cord injuries. In 2009 Pendergrass underwent successful surgery for colon cancer and recovered to return home. A few weeks later he returned to the hospital with respiratory issues. After seven months, he died of respiratory failure on January 13 2010 at age 59.

by far one of the best of all time, IMO one of the most underated/uncelebrated male singers of that era , theres not and hasnt really in the last odd 20yrs been enough appreciation of such a great iconic performer. when he passed away it wasnt even big news compared to James Brown, Gene Pitney, etc passing away

the first song i heard was only you and always liked it -when i saw and heard the live performance on video of it i was blown away by this guy.
