  • @1969captainron To my ears it sounds like almost everything Iommi did was tuned down, but nice work on getting that "bassy" vibe

  • @1969captainron I have it in C# the only BS song I play not in that tune is Iron Man

  • mute the slide a little more and you will have it down dude, keep at it though

great band to start off with

  • UMMM wow?

  • i've been listening to sabbath since i was 14 years old dude... all these people who tell you you're doing it wrong are fuckin haters and probably can't even tune a guitar let alone play a sabbath song.

  • I was pretty sure there was some sliding here and there in this tune.

  • Keep practicing, you'll get there eventually. And you're confusing part of the base line.

  • @thesaint252 no I'm not, Tony is sliding there.

  • @Mikejesmike Sorry dude, but no he isn't. That slide is the Bass.

  • @thesaint252 The bass isn't sliding on that song, it's only the guitar and I'm not going to argue this any further, if you still want to disagree I suggest copy and pasting this in the search box to watch how the man who wrote the song plays it Black Sabbath (Ian Gillan) - Supernaut (Montreal 1983) and to clarify Tony is on the right side

  • @Mikejesmike You're an idiot. You've got 50 people telling you you've got it wrong, a dozen videos right next to yours showing the song being performed correctly and you can't hear the difference between your incorrect fingering and progression, and the actual song. If you honestly can't hear the difference, you should drop the Guitar and go learn the Kuzoo. And while I'm at it, its not Ian Gillian, its' Tony Iomi. Dumbass.

  • @thesaint252 I'm the idiot?? HAHAHA listen I don't give a FUCK IF 1 BILLION PEOPLE say there's no sliding on the guitar. There IS SLIDING, now if my fingers are on the wrong frets then oh well I can always relearn it closer, but the subject that was brought up was there is no sliding on the guitar and there IS. Are you sure it's Tony Iommi? All this time I was thinking it's Jimi Hendrix.

    Fucking retard.

  • @Mikejesmike It's 2 slides to the 12 fret and there palm muted your right that guy is a stubborn douche. Your just playing them wrong.

  • I think it's just the bass doing that slide in the background and Tony is just palm muting. it sounds right if you were playing a show by yourself to ad depth.

  • @Jomentum468 Tony is sliding on that part

  • Good job bro, the only thing is the short run your sliding on the E string is really a bass guitar 3 note run.

  • @cousingrandpa No Tony is sliding on that part.

  • You got the right notes down, but bend them strings some dude!

  • You'll get there, Once you learn the riffs try putting some feeling into it.

  • Somethings not quiet right in the verse, but otherwise good job!

  • Yeah I know, thanks

  • very good

  • tommy would be proud

  • Dude you nailed it!

  • Really nice ;d

  • Black Sabbath is awesome.

  • very good!

  • very nice please post more of obscure black sabbath songs.......do try the leads as you know because of Iommi's handicap the leads are not that hard......just lots of pulloffs and hammer ons..

  • the leads aren't that hard to learn but they do take tons of concentration because Iommi likes to shift around on the neck and he is surprisingly fast for having 2 fake fingertips.

  • I was wondering how it's made. I mean... that groove riff was way ahead of it's time (it was 72 after all!)

  • Sounds great dude..

  • Yo, man!

    That's surely a great rendition.

Thanks for keeping Sabbath's name true!

  • um can you send me any tab? i didnt find it anywhere but wanna learn it... or a link with tab or GP or howto

  • Sounds great, I just played it on my SG for the first time but I'm going to adjust my tone settings. You've got the tone well sorted on that setup. What amp are you using? I'm using a Marshall JVM 205C.

  • Thank you, it's a crate GFX212

  • its easier if you use the open a instead of the 5th e, it flows better and sound better too

  • This is actually possible to play without tuning down to C# :p.

  • id love to learn how

    could you help?

  • Yes. In standard tuning start on A string, 2nd fret which is B. pick B and slide up 2 frets to C#. next pick C# and pull off to B and pick and fret G# on Top E string 4th fret. Then back to B then pick C# twice. then it's C# C# C# B G# B. Next it's B slide to C#. C# B G#. C# B E - F# (on D string 2nd to 4th fret. And then F# F# F# E C# twice. I hope you find this helpful.

  • can you sho me how to play this

  • good job bruh

  • If you are going to play Sabbath, you really need to get an SG. lol

  • chords are wrong dude

  • you're so right.

  • not bad man

looks like an RG great guitar

  • you need to try this with a wah pedal

  • see that power chord that tony always plays in most of the songs like n.i.b and paranoid.

  • dude u play it awesome but put some feel in it u seem bored come on bro saBBATH baby

    ya!

  • hehe! I sang to your guitar play:D

  • Wow Man !! Thats cool !!

  • Good Job!

    Black Sabbath is awesome.

  • how hard is this? Like how long would you have to play to get on this level?

  • It's not hard, just have to repeat what you're playing.

  • how do u tune down Db?

  • I use a tuner, though I have a new Ibanez tuner that I don't care for.

  • my tuner is gay and it only tunes E natural and eflat is there any other way?

  • I had a great tuner called Sabine, could tell you what tune you were in. Had the thing for 14-15 years until it fucked up, I like it more than the Ibanez tuner I have now, only reason I got it was because it the only tuners in the only guitar shop in the city. I'm going to have to read up on it some more to see how it works.

  • Very good!! When your do yoor slides on the 2nd part of the song what are you actually doing?? Cheers!

  • I'm palm muting the low e string between slides

  • Have you been playing long?? Just started playing myself. Would you practice much?? Any tips feel free lol!!

  • I've been playing too long-20 years,15 years serious. My tips are to play with others, they can help you break out of a rut and only play when you're in the mood to play. There are times I try playing when I'm not in the mood and I don't last but a few minutes. Playing the guitar should be something enjoyable, shouldn't be like work.

  • please film you spiral architech plz!

  • wow indeed

  • wow

  • You rock man!

  • Nice playing! I've been trying to play this for days now. I mean, I have the intro and verse riff down, but I can't get the right sound. I have my guitar tuned down 1 1/2 steps, and I've adjusted my amp's settings many, many times, but I just can't get it to sound right... Hmm...

  • Sometimes there's nothing you can do because it's the amp.

  • Damn fine job, Sir..... loved it!!!

  • Nice Job :P

So then, what IS your tuning and what IS your amp?

  • Thank you C# Crate GFX212

  • 1.5 step down hmm?

    I'll try that :P

Crate gfx212? Can't say I've heard of it.

Info? *relativeley new guitarist, I've only been playing for about 6-7 months or so)

  • Everything Sabbath ever did after Paranoid(starting with Master of Reality) is always C#. Anything before, E Standard.

  • Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die were also standard tuning, if I'm not mistaken.

  • i think they are because i played dirty women tuned down on my bass and it didnt sound right but when i play it standard it sounds right

  • "A" for effort. There seems to be something missing though. If you study some of the various live video's out there of Iommi playing this you can hopefully see there is a smoother way of playing this.

  • Nice tone! May I ask you what you are using for distortion?

  • Only what is built into the amp.

  • Supernaut is one of my favorite Black Sab songs. Nice work man.

  • The verse is incorrect, but otherwise it's pretty good.

  • thats awesome, i love the tone of that setup you got there, you got it spot on, if i didnt know, i'd swear it was toni iommi playing himself, your rilly good, sorry if i spelled his name wrong

  • coolio nice riff

  • Nice. Just a question: Do you need to tune your guitar differently?

  • If you want it to sound like mine and be played in the same place then yes you do.

  • damn thats a nice ibanez.

  • yeah yeah ibanez is o.k. i prefer gibson sg's, jacksons, and PRS.

  • esp all the way

  • Also nice Ibanez

  • nice sounds just like it

  • Nice, i personally prefer the nine inch nails version myself. . .

Iv been lookin for it a lot, dyu know a website that has the tabs to this song? just reply on my name

thanks, Btw not a bad guitar, but for me, its schecter all the way

  • hey that was great, but the slide is to 12. 0/12-0

  • Not bad!

  • DAMN, another riff I thought I'd written ¬_¬

  • Nice.. Jackson is it? or Ibanez. To heedingthecall, they're not Tony Iommi pickups because he has chrome plated humbuckers and by the looks of it this guy has single coils.

  • It's an Ibanez RG560-2 single coils,1 Bill Lawrence humbucker.

  • Tocas Muy Bien Amigo...

  • sorry for that message i missed this one

    thanks!

  • Tuning is C# on the Low E string, all other strings are standard.

  • i don't think the tab is right? theres the weird slide bit, i havn't seen that anywhere and i don't recognise it? and i could swear its lower down the neck but meh

  • ok man its not bad but listen to the "live at last" again for instance to really hear. the riff is actually being played with one finger, doing just slides on the D and A strings and open strings as well. tony's style is sophisticated simplicity that's why it's so good (with vibrato on notes).

and for the second riff, the first E chord is actually the first 3 notes of E7#9 (typical blues/funk chord).

    hope that helps...

  • I hope Tony plays it better. Also we're both using the same gauge strings,8, and the same tuning. The difference is it's his song, plus it was recorded in a studio.

  • do you use his pickups?

  • Lol.. "Do you use his pickups".. I misenteprentated id ^^

  • you need to check it how iommi plays it. It sounds better the way he plays it. Not bad after all.

  • Well there are things such as tone that can make the difference. I could play 2 songs the same on 2 different amps and guitars and one song can sound better than the other.

  • yo, tune it down one-and-a-half steps. You'll be able to hit it perfectly.

  • It was

  • then i outta be quiet then :)
