Skins US could have survived with original plot lines. I didn't like it either way because I thought the actors were terrible. I just wasn't a fan, has nothing to do with comparison. I didn't really like that they took a good show and basically just changed the cast and kept the name and plot lines. It just wasn't Skins to me. It was any other show.
