Micro machines was a galoob product until hasbro bought them and they are only availible in the uk now...... Which sucks cuz I want to play with the freedom force and terror troopers again now.... I also miss their trains..... Why do kids have such crappy toys now
i dident hear a word he just said... but what happend to micro machiens??? there better then hotwheels! micro machiens just kinda dissappeared... good thing i have a lot, plus 3 tracks from the 2000s... but the 90s or 80s micro machens seemed better... i have 5 micro machiens from the 90s.. and a bunch from the 2000s the 90s micro machiens are better, and i want this track!
I'm also a member of the "I used to have that toolbox" club. Used to have the secret auto supplies oil can that opened up into a service center as well. Good times.
I had this and tons of other MM playsets, I saved all of them, but somehow they were "lost" after I moved out of my parents' house. I still find a little piece from one of them, like a lamp post or bridge every once in a while when I visit them :(
It was always a pain in the ass to close the toolbox with all of the parts inside.
Galoob used to made good Micro Machines back then, and Galoob was a head of its time when it was a good company based in South San Francisco until it was bought out by Hasbro back in 1998. Lewis Galoob was the founder of it's toy making company that made some good toys like Bouncin' babies, Mr. game Show, Bouncin' Kids, Sweet Secrets, Lost & Founds, Game Genie and many others.

I'm hearing ya!! I remember getting this in '88 from my Mom as a stocking filler (as I got the C64 as my main gift that year!!) I still have this somewhere downstairs in the basement!
@cotters1 yeah it almost makes you wanna drag it out and set it up eh lol my nephews see it everytime theyre over and aside from my model cars its the only thing they arent allowed to destroy, i mean play with lol
LOL I found this set after digging through my basement. Surprisingly it still has all the pieces! Although most of the stickers are curling off but not too much. I had forgotten that after setting it up it takes a few days for it to finally lay flat!
mine never did man i got this set in like 1989 and i got the super van city one in like 1993 and i still have both of them with all the original parts
If it doesn't say Micro Machines it not the real thing. I had so many bootleg Micro Machines it was REDICULOUS lol. I had a lot of real ones to. You could not tell the difference.
WTF?!?! How the HELL did this guy do the voice for one of the transformers in the 1980's animated movie?! Jesus, how could any of the autobots understand that guy??
It wasn't the choking kids that stopped production, it was the buyout of Galoob by Hasbro. According to Hasbro, Micro Machines wasn't profitable enough to keep going, but some of the doll lines were.
the mint ones that are still in the box are worth 150% of the original price. if it was $5, its now $15. The dented box ones are worth double. The loose cars that are not in the box are worth $0.99+ depending on their year and how rare they are. I just got a Blue Angels set that is worth $60 now. So Id say the original cost of these were over $500 now worth about over $1500.
haha oops... nice correction. Also, I typed the sentence wrong. I wanted to type something else. Originally I wanted to type: "the mint ones that are still in the box are worth 150%+ of the original price. The prices vary upon the manufacturing year and how rare they are. Lets take the #56 Autosports set for example; if it was $5, its now $15." I wasn't sure if it was going to cost that much, so i editted and took it out without changing the percent. Thank you for pointing that out
Rarity doesn't determine the value all that much, demand trumps rarity every time. An original 1987 set can be worth anywhere from $10 to over $100 depending on which cars and who wants it.
that is also true. But the fact that the production stopped and the part that people still have some mint in box already boosts the price; rare or not. you have any?
Micro machines was smart to hire this guy to tell them everything about that play set in just 29 seconds. Now thats a full advertisement with cheap and short ad. Ah the money they probably made.
I completely agree. You can get so much information. Even though you can't keep up with him, for some reason, you know everything he said. It's strange. But yes, great, great idea for Galoob's advertising team to hire him on.
Argh, I had this too. I sold it for like three bucks to some used toy store. If I knew back then that three dollars is chump change, I'd still have this amazing toy today.
I remember these commercials. I would always record the commercial and pause the tap one at a time to figure out what the guy was saying. I used to have the complete set.
woot! I still have this set, I loved the heck out of it as a kid.. all the different fake advertisements were cool too "Mr Snow Car Wash" and the Moon building.. great times
Oh man, THANK YOU for uploading this. I miss the Micro Machine Guy...what the heck ever happened to him? I'd love to see him on one of those new Geico "this is not an actor..so to help them we hired one" commercials they're showing now. He was totally a hero back in his day.
