some times they get cold nosed that guy lies all dogs have bad days its like humans one thing the rabbit flushes really faster then with a beagle

the difference that i see is beagles hunt in pack as my dog 1-2 hunt after one and the others are finding more rabbits in the same area with them u have too keep yours eyes open there are a lot quicker to flush them

they are tough sob they have good nose the small breed is better for those thick brushes but the medium will do the same

Beagles are great rabbit dogs. But tend to be a bit cold nosed "old scent". I prefer to hunt rabbit with the Podengo Portuguese.

Will not give up and is NOT cold nosed!

not all beagles are cold nosed and i bet some of those dogs are it all depends on breading

I love beagles and have owned many before, but I never lost a rabbit on account of my Podengo Portuguese loosing a scent trail on account of cold nose or shear laziness as I did with many pure breed beagles from "supposed great stock" I bid you great hunting my friend.

you probably just got a bad line ov beagles and a cold nose will help keep the rabbit going longer as apposed to a hot nose because in a hot nosed dog they cannot keep the rabbit going after a long check but a cold nosed dog can...also you need to keep beagles in good shape or they will not be able to perfom as well wen hunting in tough conditions and that can male them lazy but in all the times iv seen beagles hunt they have never quit hunting..
