what are the advantages of this compared to a touch screen. seems like this is similar functionaity but a bitch to use in comparison.

i thought it might be usefull to do something like this but with ones' hands on the desk and looking forward - the screen could show your hands super-imposed *semi-transparent* so you can still see whats going on under them

Yeah thats a really cool idea to implement! however one of the main goals was to bring the sensing system and the display on to one surface. I remember checking out a similar project with "semi-transparent" hand images.

another fringe idea - you know the snazzy OLED keyboard? imagine an augmented reality workalike. but i guess 2 hands one one surface is going to be more usefull in the longrun.. make the KB obselete eventually.

I'm impressed. Good job on the project.
