My point was that they did not do this as Ibaadah, which is an act of worship, and that the kissing of the "shaykh's" hand? Are they expecting to receive some sort of blessing from this? If there was only the duff and this was an Eid party, or a Walimah, and they were just singing songs and not chanting, then this would be perfectly acceptable and Allah knows best

Imam Nawawi said in commentary of hadith of Asiha ra in sahih Muslim that is The meaning is RAQS by Scholars is that it means Jumping with weapons and Playing with Spears that is near the Kafiyah of RAQS, So in many narrations there Playing of spears is mentioned so commentary of this word should be done with other narrations.(end quote)
For, the playing of the Ethiopians was for the purpose of practicing for war. So, one cannot use this hadeeth as proof for the permissibility of dancing for entertainment purposes.And Allah knows best.

al Hafidh Ibn Hajar al Asqalani rahimahu Allah said:And some Sufis used the hadeeth of this chapter as proof for the permissibility of dancing and listening to musical instruments. However, the majority of scholars criticized this (deduction), because the two matters have different purposes.
Ibn Majah narrated that Anas, the son of Malik said that: “the Prophet of Allah once as he was walking in the Madinah some young ladies were beating the Tambourine (Duff) and chanting: “We are young women from the tribe of An-Najjar and how great it is to have a neighbour like Prophet Muhammad”. Prophet Muhammad replied what means: “Allah knows that I love you”. In his book Misbahuz-Zujajah the Hafiz Al-Busiri has confirmed the Hadith and classified it as Sahih.
Also Al-Bazzar (another narrator) narrated in his book that the people from Ethiopia danced (in this context dancing refers to jumping on their legs) and chanted in front of Prophet Muhammad and said: “Abal Qasim (referring to Prophet Muhammad) is a good man”, affirmed by Hafith Ibn AlQattan.
Prophet Muhammad did not object to them for combining dancing with chanting.. Who are you all to object even Our prophet didnt object n say anyting???
