  • I'm learning as I try to use Audacity for a project for the very first time. Your video helped me a lot! :) Keep up the great work!

  • Video about noise removal played along with the noise from the mic you are speaking in...

  • @161194 Audacity is for audio only files...it doesn't pull audio out of video to edit. Thanks for the comment.

  • You can´t belive how much this helped me.

  • I never comment on videos, but you sir are a saint. Thank-you very much.

  • Thank you so much, this helped me alot! :D

  • I tried this.. It basically did Remove the Static.. But theres Alot of Static in my Actual Music peice. It didnt Get rid of that. Is there any way of removing The Actual Static so your just Left with a piano peice for example? Awsome Tutorial.

  • Great video. What software do you use to make these tutorials? Thanks

  • Thanks alot...I did it in the 1st time. Juz amazing :X

  • Just wondering if there's any way to clean up distortion guitar so there's not a lot of fuzz but it's still heavy, without a lot of adjustments to the pedal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Thank you !

Had to do it twice with 2 different "noise profiles" but after that it worked perfect :)

  • This software DOES work, however, the biggest issue was trading the background noise with distorted ruffling sound which you can somewhat here in my "Sweet baby james" song on my channel. You sort of have to play around with the levels to get it to the best quality you can possibly get.

  • DOESNT WORK

  • ok cool ty i have adobe audition also i ty i did not know it was like adobe for that part no im learning audacity also soon im do trips on this program and also lmms case im starting to find this 2 are just as good as others you just got to learn the programs

  • Thank You sooo Much!!! I got it to work every time now :)

  • I would not worry about the noise if its gonna effect my track,,,just get a cheap noise gate.

  • A question can i edit mp4 files in this way?

  • thanks alot :)

    it works ! :)

  • Thanks alot. it really helped. you rock to the max XD

  • This is the simple fix i've been looking for, thanks ;D

  • Thanks. I was Using a way more complicated method.

  • Thank you so much man it completely disappeared i made the mistake you said i selected the whole track then it didn´t work but now it does THANKS MATE

  • Hey i got the free prog.. but doesn't have any effects on it.. how do i get the effects

    please help.. thank you!!!

  • You are a life-saver!

  • Parksart TY, very clear "tut", you are sharp... I have a big problem: after noise removal whole audio is so low it cannot be heard anymore... please help ! I even moved cursor to solo (louder) before starting the noise removal...

  • thanks!

  • Thanks heaps

  • thanks!

  • thanks i thought my mic sucked

  • When I remove the noise it plays back really quiet, and when i tturn the volume up, the noise is still there

  • thanks a lot, man, really nice

  • Thanks a lot, I allways selected the entire track... and it didnt work :(. but now it does!

  • lol how do i add noise?

  • Comment removed

  • EPIC STUFF MAN THANKS

  • thanks man.

  • Is it possible to lower the volumn of a symbol while editing. The orchastra is great and the choir is great but a bashing symbol is to loud

  • @LancastercaACT maybe if you can tell it what a cymbal sounds like, you can just remove it?

  • Fucking thank you!!!1

  • Hey can i send u a song by email and if you can remove the noise for me and send it back ... Thanks for the video but id really appreciate it if you could help me do it

  • Does the audacity can remove a noise but its joined at the song? I mean the noise + the song was combine but i want to remove the noise does audacity can do it?

  • good tool but for me it leaves paper noise

  • btw instea dof noise removal u can use generate silent

  • how do i remove the noise that you make when you're too close to the mic?

  • thanks man this really helped

  • This works, but leaves the track having a weird tinny and echoey distortion, and no matter how much I turn the effect down you can still hear it.

  • @Swejster Well, it always depends on the particular track and how much noise you have. it's not magic. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Afterall, you are removing a part of the sound from the track and parts of your voice/instrument are in that range too.

  • tanks brother very good

  • Thanks man helped me a lot

  • I feel so stupid for doing it wrong xD thanks for uploading it!!

  • Woody sent me here :)

  • Hey Man,

Just Curiously Wondering If It's Possible To Remove Melody So You Purely Have The Lyrics, Which I Could Use In Remixes/Hardstyle/Dubstep, Etc. ;D

    Let Me Know;

    Thanks Man.

  • @xXB3RNiEXx I would guess that would be asking alot out of this little free program. It also greatly depends on the particular song and how easily a certain sound is distinguished. I'm going to predict no though.

  • @Parksart Damn. But i do see your point (:

    Thank you anyways mate (Y)

  • @xXB3RNiEXx to remove the lyrics you need both the original song and the original off-vocals or else it won't work :0

  • Thanks for the tip, I'll find this very useful!

  • Thank you!!!! :)

  • nice tutorial!

quick, simple, straight to the point!

  • thanks for this tutorial, but I have one problem. I'm recording a song with many tracks. In many of them I wait a few moments before a certain part comes in and I start playing. I know I can select and delete the unwanted parts in the beginning of each track, but I dont want whats left of it to move all the way to the beginning. How can I edit without the track going to the beginning?

  • very, VERY nice vid!! 5star!

  • and here comes the irony; if the recording is above the threshold and the noise is below then the noise would automatically become inaudible because of psychoacoustic masking, and no noise reduction processing is needed,

and if the recording is below the noise floor then the noise along with the recording material is eliminated, so in all probalities noise reduction results in poor sound quality..

  • Thanks alot dude, nice and easy. But actually when you were saying things, it wasnt like "cheap Logitech mic" ;p

  • thank u this helped me alot

  • Does audacity work for video file voice editing?

  • DO U NEED A MIC PLZ TELL ME

  • @zorgozilla If you want to record your voice, then yes.. you will need some sort of mic. If you are playing a guitar that has a pickup in it, then you can often times plug that into the line in port of your computer. You will most likely need an adapter to take the guitar cord down to a headphone jack size.

  • Thank you great video ...........one Question though....... My static is gone but know i have this electronic sound like something you'd here from an alien movie am i able to get rid of that too?

  • Hi there just a quick question. When i select the piece i want to delete i dont get the line in the middle like in your vid i just end up deleting more of the sample i have. Im i doing anything wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • @munch340 I'm not sure what you are wanting to do. I deleted the very beginning of the track, but on the rest I was removing noise which makes the noise go down and the track looks more like a line when no guitar is being played.

  • @Parksart what i mean is when i delete the part at the start with the static or noise i end up with no middle line being left just a shorter sample. not sure what im doing wrong

  • can I use my webcam in this program?

  • @96crizz To my knowledge, audacity is only for editing audio.

  • @munch340 you have to high light the sample in between (of the noise you want to remove), then go to effects, noise removal and get noise. Then go back to project and highlight the whole track, then go back to effects - noise remove, but this time just select remove noise. Should be sorted now :)

  • Hi there just a quick question. When i select the piece i want to delete i dont get the line in the middle like in your vid i just end up deleting more of the sample i have. Im i doing anything wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • @Parksart yeah that is what i mean. thanks for the help. i posted the video that i was trying to upload at the time as a video response

  • I have been searching for months for a way to remove noise without having to mess with a million computer features or take a class in electronics. You sir have won yourself an internet high five

  • @RyanEdge Thanks, man!

  • how do you remove audio from wmm projects

  • @MegaJet66 I'm not sure what you mean. You can't edit audio from a wmm file inside audacity. You might somehow convert the audio to a wav or mp3 and pull it into audacity..edit it.. then re-import it and put it back in place.

  • How do you remove with live songs?

    So you block out cheering?

  • @xxtasha10xx That may be asking too much for audacity. It really is good at removing a consistent fuzz or hiss.

  • thank u so much sir

  • You could just hit the silence clip button when you highlight the static

  • @DylanKingOfTheOzone that would only remove the noise from the area with no sound. The noise removal takes the room noise from the whole clip.

  • @Parksart Yeah. I know what youre saying, i was just saying for the beginning clip that had the static where there wasnt any music.

  • @lilnis321 That's how it normally sounds.

  • Thanks for the video.

  • amazing! Thankyou, that's exactly what I was looking for, thanks, gonna try it out soon, and let u know how it forked for me ;)

  • Thanks now i finally can hae a chance of being a YouTube Partner. Hehe ...

  • @HawtSpike You're welcome! I think!

  • @Parksart Lol ;p

  • dude if i do this my guitar sounds like shit even if i use it just a bit....sucks????

  • @samvanderveen There's always a risk of losing quality. Make sure you only sample the dead noise and not your guitar work.. Then select the whole track and remove the noise. If your guitar is using alot of distortion effect or something it may be removing some of that too. It's not magic or anything. I mostly use it to mildly remove hiss from the computer equipment and stuff.

  • Thanks! It will help with my commentaries!

  • Thank you! You helped a lot!

  • for some reason mines not going to step 2..... what the heck?

  • I dont have that 'remove noise option' under effects, were is it?

  • this is da answer im lo0kin for...thanx

  • I no speak englisk Im from brazil

  • Nice Thanks

  • Thank you very much! :)

  • If I have a a song with music then get a mp3 of just the music can i use this to get the song without the music?

  • Really nice and understandeble tutorial. Thank you! :)

  • hey nice vid !, im wondering, i do tutorials recording on camstudio with voice, i´ve used realteck to reduce noise from the microphone, but now i get a small weird echo after i talk, even with the noice and echo canceled, is there a way to remove that from the audio directly from the recorded audio on the vid? or do i have to record the audio separetly? thx again ando sorry for my bad english :D

  • dogg you a fuckin genuis thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • that was very helpful... thank you...

  • Hey Parksart, nice vid. Quick question, what about removing noise from an audio clip that I recorded using a phone in a club? I kno i can't get everything off but at least fade out the background noise and to hear the singer on mic more clearly. I tried with audacity and it seems to be removing everything! lol! Help?

  • @chaosdimension24 Well, you'll have to sample a segment with only the crowd noise. Then try to remove it from the rest... I'm not sure it will work on something like this situation though... but worth a try I guess.

  • @chaosdimension24 im trying to do the same thing... did you have any luck?

  • @springfeildshopper Sorry for replying so late. I got some luck but did not remove all the noise. I had to amplify the speech part a lot and try to reduce the background. It came out "ok" in the end but i'm sure it have some program out there that can do much better.

  • How do you do it for the newer version of Audacity?

  • what if its music mixed in with a sound effect and you just want the sound effect how can i remove the music?

  • I succeeded in removing the noise alright but the sound changed and it now makes some weird bleepy-spacecraft noise. Is this because I accidentally included the track sound into the noise profile?

  • @Brayzyfoo Or you tried to remove too much... like by moving the slider too far. Also, it won't always remove ALL the noise. So, you may have to only remove some of the unwanted noise and live with a little.

  • what if there is no usable sample, the noise plays at the same time as the music??

  • @ericsimaginaryfriend You'll just have to experiment.. but if the music is on every single spot of the track audacity will be trying to remove the music as well.

  • can i remove noise from the recorded files by phone?

  • @Yukizatsu just get the files from the phone to the computer.

  • Thank you SO much for this! I just joined a small online chorus with a few people I know and my mic always gives off this annoying loud hissing noise that I thought would throw off our whole project but you really helped me out :3 Now I don't have to necessarily buy a new mic! ouo

  • Thank you a million times and then once again ...you helped a lot!!!!!

  • @Bluetorez

What the hell are you talking about?

  • @Bluetorez Snitches get stitches.

  • Excellent video... clear instructions and straight to the point good stuff !!!

  • Got a legal matter involving a death threat in an alleyway a threat involving a firearm. Got all 50mins. on audio. A crystal clear recording except for one very crucial segment. Thing is at exact the moment the threat was issued a garbage truck was on its route. It proceeded to go through the motion of emptying the dumpster which created a super high volume of BACKGROUND noise. You cannot hear us talking due to the dumpster & garbage truck. Can Audacity remove & eliminate the background noise?

  • It depends on whether or not you can find a section of ONLY garbage truck sound to sample it then select the area where the truck noise is and try to filter it out.

  • @AcuteAnalogy

Maybe you shouldn't piss people off. It would be safer. Also, you're clearly a fucking rat. Everyone hates a rat. Recording conversations is dangerous for people like you. Maybe you should have been shot.

  • makes me sound like an alein O_O help?

  • Make sure you have the slider almost all the way to the left. If it's ALOT of room noise, it just may not be able to do it. It's good for small hisses and stuff like that, but it doesn't always work.

  • The noise removal feature in Audacity has really changed since this video. Now there are THREE sliders that you have to juggle instead of 1. More powerful but a lot more complex.

  • You are right. I haven't messed with the newer version that much yet.

  • My voice sounds like a broken bicycle after I remove the noise...

  • @lilnis321 mine too how do you fix that?

  • @lilnis321

by principle noise reduction processors are an abomination...

a noise reductions software identifies noise by a threshold value, which is called the noise floor, it eliminates sound below the threshold, so in the process it also eliminates quite a lot of recording materials...

  • i thought the first time you recorded was pretty cool

  • thanks - once you have removed the noise, it seems to take some of the richness out of the guitar??

  • Well, you are removing some of the sound when you take out the room noise. It's a give and take thing. That's why the slider is there. You have to decide where the sweet spot between noise and richness. Obviously, I'm not a professional musician. I'm sure there are ways to make it better.

  • thanks for your upload

  • hey when you played that was there any delay between you playing and it on the comp coming out of the speakers?? because when i record there is a 1 1/2 sec delay do u no how to fix this?

  • There isn't a delay for me. How are you inputting your guitar into the computer? I ran mine through the mic jack of my soundcard. Is your machine very old? It could be a cheapo soundcard as well.

  • thanks im jealous of ur talent!

  • okay so the noise removal worked but after that was done there was a slight echo and i dont know if that is from the chords im using or from the piano but im having that trouble

if anyone has advice plz let me know as soon as you can

  • exactly what i was looking for thanks!

  • pennyroyal tea :0

  • hi sir

boy this helps so much..i was "pullimn my hair

    out"...thanks much..nice to meet u.

    lenny

  • Thanks.. I appreciate that!

  • Sorry I think I accidentally deleted your other question about the newer version of audacity... I haven't been doing much with audacity lately so I am not familiar with the latest version.. 3 sliders? I may have to check it out!

  • I used audacity to remove the noise, seemed to work in preview, the imported it back into final cut and the noise was there again.

  • I figured it out, no problem.

  • Great! It helps!

  • thanks man, very helpful!

  • Thanks, this was very helpful.

  • THANKS YOU SO MUCH

  • when i select my noise sample area and then go to effect, all the options are grayed out! help!

  • I tried to recreate the issue you are having... but I could not. If you have highlighted a section of sound the noise removal should be usable.

  • i think you press s then go into effects

  • Very helpful!

  • my audacity shuts down when i get the sample

  • Are you using the beta version of Audacity? You may try going back to their site and downloading the stable version. Just a thought.

  • yes i do use the stable version buh it shuts down

    thanks any way

  • After I did this it gave me a very bad elctronic garble sound in the bvackground...I don't know whats worse the electronic garble or the static.

  • You may be trying to remove too much noise... slide almost all the way to the left...

Also.. it's not a miracle machine or anything either... it may just be TOO much noise....

  • I tried everything. I think my mic is just too sensitive. Thanks anyway though!

  • Thank you SOOO much man!

  • tHanK u beCause teCh mE...(^_^)

  • OMG! Thank You, thank you thank you for this info! I have the Audacity turntable and I just started uploading all my old 45's. Records have alot of hiss and I couldn't get rid of it. I figured out how to get rid of pops, but not the hiss. After watching this, I cleaned up my songs quite well!

  • after taking off the noise...is there a feature to make it like cd quality?

  • Hey thanks! I had known this before I didi my remix hehe :)

  • Thanks.

  • i tried doing it but after i do it i cant do another noise removal nor can i save

also my sounds has two tracks and i dont know y

  • You have two tracks because you are probably recording in stereo. You can change that to mono in the settings.
