The look on Massa's dads face put a nice finishing touch to my season as an F1 fan.

His rift with Massa during the 2011 season was stupid and Hamilton allowed it to get to him and thus his performances suffered. I think Jenson Button is a better driver at the moment and he is Vettel's main rival.
Looking forward to a good close championship in 2012 with a few drivers fighting for the title.

But looking at track conditions, you can really see Lewis slipping and sliding maintaining his cool. There was no way Timo Glock could get grip on dry tires. I'm Belgian, so I was watching Belgian television. They didn't notice the pass on Glock, so even after the line they believed Massa was champion just like the Ferrari team. I really felt the same way as them, most dramatic ending to an F1 season ever. Massa deserved that so badly and he proved himself a sportsman like no other, compare what Massa did on the podium to what Alonso did last year in Abu Dhabi.
Amazing how many Hamilton fans are in here saying Massa had all the luck. Forgetting a fair few reliability issues then are we? Singapore 2008 wasn't his fault either.

Of course not, therefore he gained an advantage by cutting the corner. Whether the penalty, or having to wait a turn to attempt and re-overtake is right or not doesnt matter in this case, this was the second occurence (at least) in 3 years of it, both were treated the same.

@mysticusa The first corner was to avoid his teamate, the other occasions were probably during the rain chaos at the end, nothing wrong with going wide on dry tires on a soaking wet track.

@mysticusa The penalty was for 'gaining an advantage from cutting the corner'. If Hamilton had backed out of the move completely - as he could have - he wouldnt have cut the corner BUT, most importantly, wouldnt have been in a position to pass Raikkonen into La Source.
Besides, Alonso did the same to Klien at Suzuka 2005, and was told to let him back past, and I belive the FIA clarified their position on it after the race, so it was not made up after Spa 2008.

Lewis was the champion, but how big was his score does matter when you are writting about how much better he was. By one tiny point. The numbers say it clear...

To be honest, both men fought hard that year. Both of them drove their hearts out in the rain or in the dry. I felt sorry for Felipe, I really did and still do. Lewis did get lucky in this race, but so did Felipe in Belgium that year, it all balanced out in the end. Everybody blames the singapore pitstop that cost felipe the championship, but if he would have won it, everybody would be angry at the stewards for Hamilton's penalty. In the end, you dont DESERVE a championship,you WIN a championshp

@VettelFanaticF1 2008 fuji start penalty, though they dont impose many rules at start, but for hamilton make exceptions as usual, also massa crash for hamilton cost him dear points, spa penalty for ham (seriously spa was the worst penalty of all times as for a rule that didnt exist until after 1week of the penalty. rule was simply to yield which he did) didnt do anything wrong) if it was penalty it should be given for next race as it was near last laps) u can deserve a Champ s and WIN, ultimate!

@mysticusa Alonso pulled a simmilar move to Spa 2008 in Suzuka 2005 and was told to give the place back. Right or wrong, at least it is consistent.

@mysticusa Answer this, if Hamilton had not cut the corner and instead backed out of the move altogether, do you really think he would have got past into La Source? Of course not, therefore he gained an advantage by cutting the corner. Whether the penalty, or having to wait a turn to attempt and re-overtake is right or not doesnt matter in this case, this was the second occurence (at least) in 3 years of it, both were treated the same.

@MetaKnightsKirby he was right in his ass, and raikonen was driving erratic! have u actually seen the race? and knew about the rules? rule said if u gained advantage, u give ur place back! which he did, the rule only changed after 1 week of the penalty, to read as after giving the position back, u have to wait for 1-2 corners? before the penalty, it was read give the position back! tell me now?also raikonen showed his pace running around the track and not going back to track, crashing on his own

in three occasions, rai run outside the track with no intention to go back to track, he went wheel to wheel with hamilton and even pushed him off track again in another corner! and he crashed on his own with no help from hamilton, how is that justified? also as far as i remember they were not giving penalties for the last 5 laps, but a race later? bcoz this dumb thing happened in the last lap,and usually they investigate a few laps later, but decision made in light speed, lol, read 16.1 f1 rules

@mysticusa The first corner was to avoid his teamate, the other occasions were probably during the rain chaos at the end, nothing wrong with going wide on dry tires on a soaking wet track.
As for the thing about penalties, I dont have a clue what you are meaning.

@MetaKnightsKirby rai left no room for ham so he did evasive action to avoid crash, which gained him advantage, and rule said if u gain advantage, u give the position back but it didnt say after giving position back, u have to wait 2 corners! sentence was added2the rules 1 week later!there was ntg wrong with ham's actions! he didnt crash noone, cut corner due to avoiding action, and give the position back. there are no ifs or buts in racing, rule made up after 1 week to justify stupid penalty!

@mysticusa The penalty was for 'gaining an advantage from cutting the corner'. If Hamilton had backed out of the move completely - as he could have - he wouldnt have cut the corner BUT, most importantly, wouldnt have been in a position to pass Raikkonen into La Source.
Besides, Alonso did the same to Klien at Suzuka 2005, and was told to let him back past, and I belive the FIA clarified their position on it after the race, so it was not made up after Spa 2008.

@MetaKnightsKirby maybe u r missing the point, and not reading rules on penalties! rule read as if u gain advantage cutting corner, u give the position back! if not penalty! 1 week after the penalty given, rule has been changed to read to stg like to wait 2 corners after giving the position back! stewards said he didnt wait for the next corner and took advantage again over the slipstream bla bla bla, not justified! even one senior FIA members commented during the race that ham did the right thg!

@MetalHead1993666 and you can't understand that when you are talking about how much was someone better, in F1 you can see it by looking at points. I understand that Lewis is your guy, he is a very good driver, likes to overtake, but telling that he was WAY BETTER then Massa in that fight for title when he won it by ONE point is absurd. And you can be sure that you can take title by luck (not like all points are lucky, but here and there, something gone wrong for rival...)

@MetalHead1993666 Schumacher won the title in 2004 with 4GP left. This year will be Vettel champion very soon with some GP to go, but Lewis won it in LAST GP and in LAST turn. Schumacher in 2004 was WAY better, Vettel is WAY better now... Raikkonen and Hamilton were just lucky just a bit... Lewis was the champion, but how big was his score does matter when you are writting about how much better he was. By one tiny point. The numbers say it clear...
