  • 22 people are tone deaf.

  • You guys are making me feel nostalgic! My first DMB show was in 1994 in some bar in Raleigh NC (can't even remember the name!) I'm not one to say if they are one of the greatest for I'm biased (I've been a fan for 15 years) but one thing is for sure, live they are awesome!!

  • Sometimes I forget how fuckin heavy acoustic music can be. Now I remember!

  • Probably one the greatest songs ever written and performed. Period.

  • this guy has the greatest voice and btw if you didnt know but he plays in movies

  • @plz343 Yeah! Did you know he plays a gay clothing designer in I Now Pronounce You chuck And Larry? lol I laughed SO HARD

  • @BigG063 thats great

  • Anyone who doesn't like this they need to get their ears checked...this is orgasmic.

  • DMB is so good! I like a lot!!

  • no see guys, anyone that says DMB all sounds the same obvoiusly doesnt listen to words, and those people dont love music anyway, so ignore them so they just crawl back under the rocks they live under in the shadows of blind and bland music..... NEXT DAVE MATTHEWS BAND is the best of our centry... bar none, in his class.

  • dave has taken over my life!!!

  • dave' singing is a testament to his vocal prowess. Those who refuse to understand that simple fact can go listen to the testosterone driven nonsense that passes for music now. dave has wonderful soulful lyrics and puts emotion into his material which is more than you can say for just about any artist today

  • @ThePunkrockdisaster AMEN!!!!

  • heard them play this and cornbread at bethel woods this summer!! it was awesome!

  • And how homophobic can you possibly be?

  • I just saw them at PNC park in Pittsburgh and they played this song...blew my mind!!!

  • DANG i thought dmb was free from haters

    UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    @steviey2493 UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • your all a bunch of nuthugging faggots...listen to this queer.... EHHHH HEEEEE literally every 15 seconds...real good...dig this old faggots grave you faggots for listening 2 him

  • @steviey2493 lol dude what do you listen to?

  • @wayhi people that don't sound like a feminine pussbag with all songs sounding the same

  • @steviey2493 Dave Matthews has to be one of the most creative musicians out there. NONE of his songs sound the same. Why dont you go actually LISTEN to some DMB before you come on here trying to bring him down? Thanks .... pussbag? Seriously? lol

  • @BigG063 i love dave matthews and all his music and nobody should be talking shit but i do have to disagree with you about the none of his songs sounding the same because i play guitar and his songs have a lot of the same chords . a lot of his songs are the same chords in different order and progression. but that doesnt mean that he isnt a musical legend. just for instance gray street and dancing billies are pretty much all the same chords in different order and progression. he still is crazy

  • @mrdonniedarko18 I play guitar too and now I see what your saying now that I have actually went back and listened to those songs... but... did you mean dancing nacies? Or tripping billies? lol but I see what you are trying to say, and thanks for replying in a non-jackass way. i appreciate it (and I am not trying to be sarcastic)

  • @steviey2493 ohhhh bug off :)

  • DMB is fucking incredible

  • There are 22 highly troubled people on youtube who dislike this video.

  • Snaredrummer, theres a reason there as successful as they are. Im glad you like them...check out NY storytellers doing dont drink the water, i think youd like that one if you like this one. or listen to the PBS solo version of stone.

  • I love Dave Matthews but I never know WHAT THE HELL he is saying at his concerts...

  • "When really we're just a collection of cells, overrating ourselves" This song may be one of his best lyrical works.

  • the order of my favorite artists:

  • @snaredrummer107 Every generation has an amazing band and for me this is it. Dave is a fantastic perfomer, even more so live!!! which says alot about him and his groups/friends talents

  • @snaredrummer107 coldplay? WHY!? great you stepped over to the good side. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @snaredrummer107 jack johnson is a hack compared to dmb

  • @snaredrummer107 went to a dave matthews concert few days ago! hes the best!

  • @snaredrummer107 Welcome to the addiction! Its a beautiful place to be!

  • My teacher is loco with Dave Matthews but we know Africa

  • good use of words, nice twist on it just like a lot of his songs. The new album "Big Whiskey" is nothing less of perfect, dmb has so many different sounds and styles just shows how talented they really are.

  • is this Radio City?

  • Yessir

  • yes it is

  • praise god who has many names, but the devil have many more, with the love that my mother gave me, im going to drop the devil to the floor... great song

  • The version of Eh Hee from DMB Live at Mile High Festival is brilliant!

    But this is awesome too.

  • probably one of the best acoustic guitar players tim reynolds

  • I've heard a lot of people rant about how awesome Tim Reynolds is, I'll have to check out some solo stuff. I mean people talkin like this guy is the fawkin man w/ a guitar etc.

  • you obviously havent seen enough of Timmy if you dont think he's the man. Check out stream by him, and if your looking for something with him and dave, lie in out graves is pretty good, as well as many others

  • Tim was with him on lot of the tour this summer (2009) I saw them at Vanderbilt , the crowd went NUTS when Tims face first flashed on the big screen. They knew they were about to witness a STELLAR guitar preformance along with a world class band. It was an amazing show.

  • Amanaya doesn't have a meaning. Many of the words in this song as well as other rifs that Dave likes to tangent off into at times do not have a meaning. Rather these come from the ancient songs of San people of South Africa. The songs of the San people are said to have no "meaning" in their words because they are songs that have been sung since before people had words."

  • what does 'amanaya' mean?..as in the context of Crazy Dave's world...

  • there's another version of this song on youtube somewhere it's 9:59 minutes long but it explains everything lol you should check it out it's like a five minute speech.. a typical dave speech

  • Quite well said sir, you are very well informed on things...

  • i must thank you deeply from the bottom of my heart

  • is tim reynolds regularly in the band?

  • its on and off. sometimes hell tour with them

  • nah just a long time friend of dave

  • my friend went to a dmb concery 3 weeks ago in camden nj n said tim was playing with them... so i dunno

  • hes not an original member of the band but he does tour with them now

  • not really but lately he has been touring with them a lot and he also helped on Big Whiskey & The Groogrux King

  • awesome song! When a band can make a song thats just so different and creative, they will never die :]

  • "Be wary of those who believe in a neat little world, cause its just fucking crazy".

I love that line and I love this song!

  • To TexasRattleSnake88: Are you thinking of Crush? cuz Timmy does a great slidesolo there and he's definitely past the fret board!

    Great video!

  • its bartender i believe,

watch him fill in the beginning, he slides way up

  • also tim does a great job in ants marching. he plays lerois sax part and rips it up

  • SOMEBODY'S GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD!

  • What a great hook.. I am totally back on with DMB

  • this song is so old bro, this concert was 2 years ago. great song tho. you sohuld check out seven or shake me like a monkey off his new album

  • Anybody that thinks Dave can't write a great rock song is out of their mind.

  • agreed

  • "Walking along in this haze of confusion, sometimes I can laugh. But sometimes it takes all of my strength just to take the next step, step but i will, but i will, til i do."

"Strange evolution how people have come to believe that we are its greatest achievement, when really we're just a collection of cells, overrating ourselves..."

  • but you forgot the last, most important part:

"Hello God, I'm avoiding the truth"

  • This song is so quotable, freaking amazing:

"Praise God who has many names, but the devil has many more. With the love that my mother gave me, I'm gonna knock the devil to the floor."

"Always there's someone who'll try to convince you that they know the answer no matter the question. Be wary of those who believe in a neat little world, cause it's just f'*'ing crazy, you know that it is."

  • really??????you had never herd of DM??!!??!!

  • keep listening. hes unbelievable.

  • like.... really?

  • this song is so badass

  • agreed!

  • this song sounds soooo much better with just d&tthan with the whole band.

  • Awesome song with some great lyrics.

"Be wary of those who believe in a neat little world, because its just fucking crazy"

    So true.

  • yeah. this is my first time hearing this song, it was wierd because I have never heard dave curse before.

  • He swears very often in his songs.

  • like what?

  • He doesn't curse very often in his studio stuff, but he does, sometimes. Live though, he curses quite a bit, for instance, in the studio version of the new song "Time Bomb" he says "No one would believe it, except the fucking nut jobs", and live he adds curse words in at random points, like in "You might die trying" He says "Do what a monkey does, stay in your fucking tree".

  • Oh alright.

  • Oops, I said that was in "You might die trying" but it was in "Big Eyed Fish". Oof.

  • No, he does not swear often at all

  • Are you serious? He swears a lot.

  • well its not to the point of where its a problem...

  • Of course not.

  • flame waaaaaaar

  • i love this song, doesn't it just make you feel so alive!!!?? Alive and strong. Ah ha, I'm a man...well, a part of mankind...somebody's gonna change the world! Brothers ...Sisters!

    peace

  • Fighting over the internet is hella lame.

Just listen to the music, or don't.

    Dave is a genius

  • His voice is seriously so amazingly good. He has got to be one of the best out there!

  • I think that Dave Matthews is really talented.Just like Leroi was. Dave Matthews plays those crazy guitar parts while singing like crazy. Then Leroi was just a beast. They both helped the band a shit ton.Awesome song

  • Alright that works for you.I just like the music that they play. I think that they are all talented. Why are you listening to this song?It doesn't have either Leroi or Carter.(I do agree that they are both badass.Dave is too.)

  • dont be talking garbage about them just because they may have been jerks to you. they are ALL very talented, there is no denying that. you're just being childish. you think that by you saying that they treated you poorly on the internet, that they are gonna see it and be like "oh, darn. we really made that guy mad. we're sorry Mr. Muddetector sir!" just quit whining and enjoy their musicianship instead of getting ill for nothing. grow up.

  • It's called an opinion. Now would be time to keep it to yourself.

  • well, i understand that it sucks when the band you open for is disrespectful, but the music is pretty good. besides, that was then, at this point, im sure dave couldnt care less about the first band upstaging them, hes probably mellowed out. if not, then my opinion of dave fell a few points.

  • i understand too, i've been in and around music my whole life. i've been in bands that have gotten disrespect from other bands because we "upstaged" them. but if you're in music to get famous or look/ sound better than other people, you have the wrong attitude. playing music is about passion and the love of music, not appearance or having the best stage presence or whatever. if other people are disrespecting you like that, just brush it off. who cares? ya know.

  • upstaged = taking attention of people on purpose. its an acting term.

  • Dave is amazing...

  • the song is in F and that's what he pretty much strums the whole time. When ever he switches it up he plays G, then Bb to A

  • hes fuckin crazy amazing

  • the first line he says is amazing.

  • such a beautiful performance!

  • So what's the deal with this song?

The Wikipedia for the new album says its not on the track listing so what are they doing with it?

  • dave has been known to sit on a song and not put it on an album for years before he thinks it's good enough... and he's already recorded this song... look it up really weird video for it.

  • that's what I meant, it's recorded but not appearing on the new album.

  • HAHA i know its like super weird!!

But his live performance is like way better for the song!!

  • its a song inspired by his time in africa. he came up with it while his kid was on his shoulders taping on his head. the african tribe he stayed with have been singing these songs without words before there was words. i guess he just squeezed some of his own verses. music is so much more than words. we forget this. amazing!!!!

  • yeah this song is sick!

  • This song is so friggin sweet!

    Check me out!

  • Hire me, Dave!!! :)

  • legendary

  • lol crazy dave and his crazy songs

  • does anyone know where i can find the tabs??? or even better, a tutorial video??? i just want to know the main part, what dave was playing. it seems like hes just playing an F bar chord the whole time basically lol

  • think you hit that right on the nose....pretty sure he just plays an F chord and let's timmy take it away.. cause everytime you see dave playing something it's an F chord. so i think it's a mix of timmy being fucking amazing and dave's voice taking the rest of the song away.......

  • But after the first verse and before the chorus, he's doing different barre chords...

I havn't tried playing it on guitar yet, but it looks like it goes, C, G, F...?

  • does anyone notice the strange "speaking of tounges"?

  • lol:) that's just dave

  • It's not in this video, but there's a longer one where he tells a story about a time he and his wife were in Africa or somewhere, and after a long day of hiking they were all around a fire, and the native people were all singing in tongues, Dave asked what they were saying and he was told they weren't words, but rather just sounds of the song that had been passed down for thousands of years. He tells a pretty funny story...

  • you knwo of anywhere where i could find that?

  • yeah it's on youtube. Just search Eh Hee and it will be about 9:20 seconds or so I think.

  • Do you mean, "was anybody listening to the song?"
