  • Whether the bridge is too low or too high obviously depends on perspective here...

    ;-)

  • titanic!

  • the bridge hit... the bridge!!

  • all was nice and smooth 00:34 but sudenly the firw comes up :P

  • well... look at it at the good side... plenty of water to put the fire out -_-

  • The bridges isn't too low..... The boat is too high!

  • Cargo ship vs. lift bridge - bridge wins. Nice job bridge tender.

  • Nice convertible!

  • duck a you head, lowala bridge

  • lol holland LMAO

  • Operator is not to blame: He blocked the waterway, not the side street.

  • is that the guy from "cast away" running back and forth?

  • ai ai ai. I hope the people on the bridge were gone!!

  • DO NOT BLOCK THE SIDE STREET and DO NOT SMASH YOUR SHIP INTO THE BRIDGE

  • That's along the reliant cannel in niagara Ontario.

  • Titanic music will must be appropiate

  • 0:05 Holland Road...

  • volles Rohr für volle Bürger ^^

  • What the heck, the bridge operator needs sorting out or did the ship's captain get fair warning???

  • What is this music?

  • "Boat come in, put bridge up

Boat go thru, put bridge down

Boat come in, put bridge up

Boat go thru, put bridge down

Boat come in, put bridge down...I mean, up! Darn!"

    -New bridge tender

  • but will it blend?

  • You fucking went and blocked the sidestreet.

  • Looks like the bridge operator has some "splainin" to do!!

  • omg if anyone says it's the boat's fault then they are a dumbass the bridge is coming down

  • shame in your flash piece of shit

  • bridge 1,boat 0...

  • OK PEOPLE IT LOOKS LIKE WE NEED THE PEDDLES !!!!

  • @elnogga and @ronansher sorry I'm not some kind of boat expert ;)

  • That's stupidity to the limit he dosnt even attempt to stop the boat

  • @MrAwsomedude231 lol you call him stupid? do you know how long it takes to stop a boat, he was supposed to be going under the bridge, it was the bridge operator at fault, not the boat captain

  • @MrAwsomedude231 it's actually the bridge controllers fault. and a ship that size doesn't stop that fast mate

  • Thts stupidity tenth limit he dsnt evn attempt 2 stop

  • wow that was creepy

  • This was not the boats falt it was the draw bridge operator who screwed up

  • A ships hearcut

  • he kept his job, cuz the seaway called him in to work knowing he was at a bbq that day and was working a double shift overtime. my uncle works on the same bridge and my father is a foreman there. he was drunk, but before authorities got thier his supervisor took him to a bar and when they said he will need a urine test his supervior said well hes drunk now he was so upset i had to take him out for a drink to calm down. so the seaway didnt want to admit they overworked the guy

  • sorry, my microwave oven "plinged"

  • loool..it says: DO NOT BLOCK SIDE STREET....

  • Now they have a convertible ship!

  • @CrazyMan15218 Nobody died.

  • it's my first day... sorry...

  • loll

  • Nobody died.. Thats crazy....

  • Ya, Because lifting the bridge up after the boat is completely ruined will fix everything.

  • Lol i d like to see the skippers face by now!!!

  • This happened on the welland canal in St.Caithrines Ontario, Canada back in the late 1980's

  • "Uh, dude, does this thing stop fast?" 'Fuck, I don't know, why? "Cause it looks like that bridge is kinda low." 'HOLY SHIT!"...CRUUUNCH. 'Whoa, that was awesome dude." 'Awesome? Awesome?? Fuck! The captain's gonna kill me.' "Maybe we can kind of fix it up, huh?" 'Are you fuckin' crazy - fix it up??' "Hey dude, chill - just an idea." 'Well shit, at least the worst is over. I mean, it's not like we're on fire or anything.' "Uh, dude...

  • "Umm... ...OOPS!"

  • Bridge doesn't move. Water too high.

  • @jamlip no the guy that control the brige is fucking retarded and started to bring down the brige before the boat left

  • @1221kx125 Oh yeah... I didn't see that. I like the way it starts going up again only after smashing the top of the boat to pieces. Ha!

  • @1221kx125

ya he was drunk and working double shift. even kept his job!!! my family works on the seaway, he was always drinking at work. now he just ties boats lol

  • I always wondered what happened to Grizzly Adams.

  • women = kitchen

  • The bridge operator was the captain's wife who just found out he was on the boat with his girlfriend...

  • Bridge operator was in the middle of getting a nice BJ when this happened...

  • Bridge operator lowered the bridge too soon

  • @Leo92053

    gee really?

  • Bridge: 1

    Boat: 0

  • "will we hit it??" " I have no idea but if we hit it we will know."

  • quite paradox this situation: the bridge is too high AND the bridge is too low

  • @r2d2rx lol, that's too clever use of words for youtube!

  • I have a new Youtube rule: comments with spelling mistakes cannot be rated.

  • @HuasoPodrido why?are you another grammar nazi that thinks spelling mistakes on the internet is somehow damaging your day to day life?

  • @sextonqpr , If you use the word Nazi as a proper name it must be capitalized!

  • @HuasoPodrido :p im fairly sure that you're joking about that right?!

  • @sextonqpr , Yup! :-)

  • @HuasoPodrido good :)

  • Hey you scratched my anchor!

  • I bet the captain was from fyrom.....

  • ayyyy caramba!

  • whose fault was it?

  • @SiLorenzKo the bridge operators

  • @SiLorenzKo it was the seaways fault for callin the guy into work for overtime knowing he was at a bbq drinking

  • LOW BRIDGE EVERYBODY DOWN, LOW BRIDGE WERE COMIN TO A TOWN!!!!

  • bridge to low, or boat to high? or operator was baked? get it together

  • @b3

If you watch closely, the bridge is actually coming down when it happened...

WOW the bridge operator will have to move to a new planet to get this out of his life

  • @skylane807

he kept his job, cuz the seaway called him in to work knowing he was at a bbq that day and was working a double shift overtime. my uncle works on the same bridge and my father is a foreman there. he was drunk, but before authorities got thier his supervisor took him to a bar and when they said he will need a urine test his supervior said well hes drunk now he was so upset i had to take him out for a drink to calm down. so the seaway didnt want to admit they overworked the guy

  • Heh, that bridge operator just lost his job.

  • @Polybun , nope, crazy enough he kept his job cuz the seaway didnt wanna admit they made him work a double shift on call knowing that he was coming from a bbq and drinking, he no longer does the bridge, he ties boats now. my family works on the seaway as well

  • did de guys in the ship survive?

  • @eindhovengorecity , yes they did.

  • If you watch teh video you will see the bridge is lowering while the ship is going under it. A malfunction of the bridge equipment caused this. Can never see what is coming in the future so we that workk offshore must do everything we can to avoid accidents. This one though was unavoidable.

  • not a malfunction, the bridge was operated by a man working ontop of the bridge and lowers/raises it maually. he was called in to work a double shift , and he told them he was at a bbq and had few drinks, was tired and hes an alcholic. he lowered it on the boat, even called the main office saying he cant get the bridge down, kept his job cuz of the union, seaway didnt wanna admit they knew he was coming in drunk so they covered it up. he ties boats now. my family works there so i know its true.

  • driver die ?

  • Who is to blame?

  • hum is the bridge to low or the boat to high? on thing i can say for sure: The captain are to stupid.

  • @22greve Thanks a millions! Good to get the whole story behind it. And I would say he is a Captain among captains! "Hiscock, concerned the boat would drift out of control if he left the wheel, dropped to the floor as the vessel's pilothouse and the bridge span collided with the shriek of ripping steel."

  • Link to news report please? The people on the command bridge can't have survived that? And why is the bridge being lowered down? All these questions and no answers. Help me internets!

perhaps benny hill would work, too :)

  • awwwwwww i wanted the bridge to collapse :(

  • Horrific!!!

  • your P45 is in the post

  • BOAT HEAD?

  • Windoc was sailing northbound in the Welland Canal. Around 9:30pm she approached the Alanburg bridge and proceeded under the span which had been lifted in advance of her arrival. As she was moving northwards under the road bridge though, the span apparently began coming down before the ships wheelhouse (pilot house) had passed by the bridge structure. The helmsman (steering the freighter) stayed until the last seconds as the wheelhouse was about to crash into the lift bridge.

  • Well, at least that shows the guys who designed the bridge built it good enough :)

  • Did he died?

  • "no im nt bsy only drvin this ship lol"

  • The bridge wasn't too low. The boat was too tall :)

  • Have you caught a fish yet? The fires lit!

  • lol

  • did the beardy guy survive?

  • Boat pilots should not be given learners permits!

  • im makeing a big complaint the bridge operater scrached my ship

  • @destroyeroflight1 scratched may be a bit of an understatement there...lol...

  • the boat driver takes the game limbo a bit too far

  • @tsmasterwilliam ..... Once you make a boat go fast the only break is no gas...

  • Wow, I'm no sailor, but evn I know boats don't have brakes LMAO

  • This was the Windoc which was owned by Patterson note the large P on the stack.. anyway.. it was August 11, 2001 and the windoc was making its way down the welland canal. and the Bridge Operator was drunk and had taken pain killers. However an Amber light on the bridge showed the Captain of the Windoc , Captain Kent Strong that it was ok to pass under.. However, it was not so. When they asked the bridge operator why the bridge went down prematurely, he simply replied "I thought it had passed

  • I can't believe how many people are saying this is fake. I crossed that bridge about an 2 hours before it happened. I had to take the Welland Tunnel to get to work for about 2 to 3 weeks after this.

  • is the bridge okay?

  • @CliffordVII Lets just say it had kind of a big dent in it. Slightly buckled along the side beams. Pavement heaved up a bit. That's all I could see when I checked it out the next day. Closest I could get was a little under a hundred yards.

  • so did the captain go down with his ship?

  • What a genious

  • @fr3ds4t "genius". oh the irony.

  • I think this accident happened on the Welland Canal, Canada, not many years ago. It was due to a novice bridge operator, who saw the bows of the laker come through his bridge and then started to lower it. One can see that it is descending as the ship passes through. Unfortunately the bridge driver did not realise that the navigation bridge, superstructure and funnel of the laker were at the after end, so they struck the bridge and fire started. This is memory of a google report.

  • Good captain..:)):)) BLind??:)))

  • He was texting

  • Bridge 1 - Boat 0

  • Bridge*

  • THIS is no fake this is in Canada in the welland cannal the fridge operator was not paying attention to the ship apparently the captin hit the deck to just miss getting hit

  • what a dickhead

  • Im sick of twats on youtube that comment 'fake' on every clip they watch.
