very nice! My wife and I are moving to Tokyo in 2 weeks. Our company has called us to work there for a couple of years. So, it was really nice to learn a little about how the city and people are going to treat us there.

thank you for this post. We were in Japan a month after the earthquake, visiting Ishikawa Prefecture for our son's wedding and southern Honshu. Like you we found very few western visitors, especially in Kyoto and Tokyo. We also found restaurants and shops were most welcoming and glad to see us.Of course there were many collection boxes for disaster relief, but where we were, there had been no effect, and we had a wonderful trip. By the way, highly recommend Tokyo Free Guide.

A wonderful report! I imagine, yes, that local residents are very appreciative of your being there. There are still a lot of us looking forward to our 1st trip to Japan.

I had a trip planned out for Japan. The earthquake happened a week before the trip was scheduled to go, so I was really upset that I couldn't go, but luckily, with the timing and everything, I went to New Zealand as a 2nd option. But Japan is still calling my name, and I know in my heart of hearts, that I will have a grand adventure there. But I'm glad, from your advice, that tourists are coming back in small amounts.
