Did I imagine it or did they misspell License with Licence in their title sequence? The song is catchy but man was that movie forgettable. Damn fine portrayal of Bond from Timothy Dalton jammed with a crummy story that reeks of mediocrity.
@theprowler18 Misspell license? Yes and no. American spelling is License. British is Licence. Bond = British = Licence (I wondered the same thing when I first saw it and looked it up at the time :-)
Most of you are talking about the different Bonds and who was greater, I agree with many of you because I was a 90's kid and I grew up with Pierce and I just find him to be extremely attractive...but Tina Turner...best Bond song ever! It was written by Bono and The Edge and sung by Tina! What more do you want?!
GoldenEye came out when I was teenager, so I loved Brosnan in that. But the later movies became silly, though not at all because of him. Mostly the plots made zero sense.
Then I saw Dalton later (on cable and whatnot). Dalton is the closest to novels and makes the most sense within Fleming's world. Honestly, I think Dalton's "darker" Bond was just too ahead of the times. Now we accept darker Daniel Craig (he's been awesome). I think Craig said he's based a lot of his Bond on Dalton.
Timothy Dalton was awesome as Bond. He really was. If he had the chance to play that role now, as he did then, he'd have been a smash hit.
You're probably right about him being too ahead of the times, he was a darker more "bad ass" Bond for sure. In my opinion, he's one of the best to have ever played the role, top 3 for sure.
I was intuitively put off by Craig during promotion of his first Bond. Now I may have to give them a chance too. Did you only appreciate the Dalton/Craig preformances or would you recommend the entire movies as some of the best Bonds?
Dalton was the best Bond. Sorry to all the Connery lovers but Timothy Dalton brought more to the role of 007 than any of the other guys. Each guy had his own style, but Dalton was everything that is great about Bond all in one guy. Everybody has their own opinion on which films were the best, but I'd say License to Kill was about as cool as it gets. Robert Davi and Benicio Del Toro as villians that feed people to sharks? That's fuckin classic right there. LTK=the best film. Dalton=best Bond.
my best bonds were dalton and brosnan!.. dalton was best in license to kill and brosnan i liekd in goldeneye! .. theres my opinion anyways thumbs up :)_
Personally Connery's the best hands down. I find it hard to watch Daltons films despite being a Bond movie. Connery's were just more classic and set the standard for the rest.
so you give me a thumbs down because you disagree with me? that's silly. I don't care if you disagree with me you have the right to. I'm impressed you've actually seen Dalton's stuff and not just Brosnan and Craig like most people. Personally, my favorite Bond is Roger Moore
Roger Moore is good in a couple of movies - but Timothy Dalton IS the best of ALL the Bonds. If he had succesed RM back in 1980 ... you would't disagree!
They should have used Swan Lee song for Tomorrow never dies intro...

Goldeneye; Pierce's best Bond movie in my opinion.

Product placement right there in the opening titles, filling the whole screen - wonder how much Olympus had to pay for that!

Sean Conery: The classy James Bond.
George Lazenby: The emotional James Bond.
Roger Moore: The light hearted and funny James Bond.
Timmothy Dalton: The dark, more serious James Bond.
Peirce Brosnan: The charming James Bond.
Daniel Craig: The anti hero James Bond.
Thats my view on the actors who protrayed James Bond. Open for discussion.

Interesting comment. You got me intrigued.
Now I really want to see the Dalton movies.
