took a peek, watched the interview, saw Larry and Adam talk while Bono glanced over... I was watching for signs of friction and dischord, and found none. Adam's comment seems to sum it up. Bono's activism in on our behalf. U2 has always been involved in politics and sending a message. Bono also has said "what's the point of being in a band... what's the point of making music if you don't have a meaningful message?" So if Bono wasn't out getting involved, U2 would be less itself.
The point of being in a band is to entertain! I saw a real akwardness when the question was asked, and you should ask yourself, why did the presenter asked the question? Its obvious to me, we shall have to remain at odds on this one :)
The purpose of any rock band -- as you say -- is to entertain. The purpose of U2 was much more than that, as confirmed by the testimony of each band member. I love Bono, don't get me wrong. I'm pretty sure he believes in what he says, and I think that it's great that he does things for his causes, but I jsu think it's kind of a lost cause. I wish I had more faith that we could really change this world.

Actually you can see that he really believes in what he's saying. He is using his popularity to make our world a better place. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. He is already a rockstar and a part of one of the most successful rockbands ever. He is rich and does not need to do it for money. I believe him and I support his actions. Amen.

Bono has already given to charity, as well as all members of U2, and many other performers. They don't need to give it all. People who receive the help say "thank you" not "give me more".

Until multi-millionaire Bono gives away his money, anything he says about starvation in Africa will be hypocritical.
Anyway, his views are utopian feelgood nonsense, because unless we have effective population and ecological control, the more we feed the more who will starve...and YOU, whoever you are, know that that is true.

Listen. He may sometimes come across as a bit of an eejit, but at the end of the day, he's a brilliant and ultra successful frontman of one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) rock bands in the world and he helps charities and spends a lot of time attempting to help the poor. If he didn't bother his arse at all, you wouldn't even be criticising him, you just wouldn't think about i...so why have a go at him. he's clearly a decent bloke who does and says these things for all the right reasons.

So you must not know how bad the job market's been lately. And you underestimate how much people my age know about the world.
